SCP - XXXX is to be kept in a 50mm thick steel vault at Site 45 and must be continually monitored by a minimum of 2 guards on a 3-hour rotation.
SCP - XXXX's containment is currently under the supervision of Dr Terry Edmund.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is a collection of 26 small mechanical devices (designated SCP-XXXX-1 through to SCP-XXXX-26) kept within a professionally made oak box lined on the inside with red silk. Both the box and the devices are in immaculate condition, considering the fact that carbon dating has placed the time of creation to 200 or 240 years ago. Its place of origin is currently unknown but is theorised to be located in ██████, Germany.
Each one of these devices is 100mm in diameter with very little deviation from one another, each device has a polished elm base with a glass dome, 30mm in height embedded into the base. Inside the dome is a small brass machine comprising of; 4 pistons, a central flywheel, a small pump and a copper canister connected to the pump via copper piping.
Around the side of the base are 6 small brass ports, that can open or close utilising an ‘iris-like’ motion, not unlike the mechanism of an aperture.
Disassembly of these devices is currently not possible, SCP-XXXX seems to be completely unaffected to any method of deconstruction.
The anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX only manifest when one of these devices is placed on the bare skin of any live human. Once placed down, the device will automatically position itself adjacent to the subject’s heart despite it having no means of locomotion, the device will then open the brass ports and copper pipe will protrude from the openings and proceed to burrow the pipes into the subject’s chest and attempt to attach itself to the subject’s heart.
Surprisingly, during this process, the subject does not show nor claim to feel any pain. It can take from 5 to 8 minutes for the burrowing stage to be completed. Once SCP-XXXX has completed this process, the machine inside will begin to visibly move, the flywheel itself reaching a speed of 45 to 55 rpm.
At this point, the subject will begin to feel a sense of drive and motivation and becomes more active, relative to how the person would typically act before.
Blood analysis shows that these devices are injecting trace amounts of █████████████ into the person's bloodstream, it is still up for debate as to how SCP-XXXX is capable of producing █████████████ as there is no evidence of a power source or adequate equipment for manufacturing of any kind.
Several case studies have demonstrated that the devices are capable of treating or curing conditions that cause or are caused by lethargy and/or lack of concentration. It also enhances the subject’s sense of survival as the augmented subjects have much quicker reaction times in life or death situations.
The devices can be surgically removed, with the subject only showing short term, minor withdrawal symptoms.
