Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in an 48 meter tall underground chamber that is 10 meters wide and 10 meters in length. This space is 150 meters below the surface and attached to the surface via elevator. The ceiling of SCP-XXXX's enclosure should regularly be maintained and cleaned. If repairs are needed they should be replaced by any reasonable means. Should the ceiling break, another one should be built 30 meters above the last one. The previous ceiling should be removed and a 10 meter by 10 meter space should be hollowed out to fit the new area.
Any personnel entering SCP-XXXX's containment chamber are expected to be wearing protective gear. Additionally, during the periods of time where the containment space is cleaned by personnel, doctors are expected to be outside containment ready for any incidents. In order to reach the ceiling of SCP-XXXX's space, scaffolding is to be placed until reaching the ceiling, although this poses a serious danger to personnel. There have been 17 instances of serious injury due to scaffolding falling apart or breaking. A new method of ascending to the ceiling is being discussing, however is still in the works.
Description: SCP-XXXX resembles a giraffe whose neck has grown beyond all possible and physical means. SCP-XXXX is apporximately 48 meters tall and has an unknown weight. SCP-XXXX's neck has the anomalous property of growing rapidly until filling the space in which it is contained. This behavior seems to have no limit, and in the instances in which SCP-XXXX has been exposed to the surface it has never been shown to stop. It's neck has rubber like properties and bends if coming into contact with a solid surface that can't contain it.
Appearing to be in an almost catatonic state, SCP-XXXX poses only some threat and danger. Concerning its containment, SCP-XXXX produces an acid from its skin that can degrade and corrode almost all metals, including the ceiling of its enclosure over time. Additionally, SCP-XXXX appears to not need food, nor does it need to produce waste.
SCP-XXXX was originally recovered from an abandoned zoo in 2003 located in [DATA EXPUNGED] after reports of a peculiar creature from local graffiti artists were discovered. It is unknown where it came from, or how it was contained in the first place. After said claims were investigated, SCP staff found SCP-XXXX stuck in a pile of concrete and rubble. It is unknown why the acid wasn't produced during this time period. During transport its neck was able to grow an estimated 14 meters, until being put in a transport vehicle.
Due to a containment breach in 2004, SCP-XXXX grew another 27 meters. This incident led to the discovery of its acid, and subsequent new containment method. SCP-XXXX has yet to grow again since this incident and has posed only some threat to contain.
