Item #: SCP-4xxx
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: After a containment breach at Site ██, SCP-4xxx's containment procedures have been amended to read: SCP-4xxx is to be contained within a cell the size of an average classroom. An audio feed of a primary school classroom is to be looped continuously through speakers angled towards SCP-4xxx. No sirens may be used within a 10 meter radius of SCP-4xxx.
Description: SCP-4xxx is a standard 4' x 8' green chalk board retrieved from a MC&D Ltd. auction in ███████, Colorado. SCP 4xxx has no visible defining characteristics besides a visible singe on the bottom right hand corner of SCP-4xxx's wooden border. When left alone SCP-4xxx behaves as a normal chalkboard, however, when written upon in chalk SCP-4xxx will attempt to converse telepathically with any nearby humanoids.
Subjects attempting to hold conversation with SCP-4xxx have noted that telepathic communication is only viable from SCP-4xxx to the test subject and not vice versa. Subjects also report that SCP-4xxx does not "speak", but rather evokes meaning through pictures. While it seems that SCP-4xxx is capable of hearing, it does not possess the ability to understand spoken word and may only be spoken to in written form via chalk. Upon responding to subjects SCP-4xxx will seemingly erase itself, all traces of previous messages disappearing, leaving behind no trace of chalk dust. It is currently unknown where this matter goes.
Subjects describe SCP-4xxx as friendly, noting that the object is rather playful. This may be a result of SCP-4xxx's extended time around children.
Addendum SCP-4xxx-1: Dr. ██████ has determined that SCP-4xxx may have a potential case of post traumatic stress disorder related to █████████ incident on ███████. Upon hearing the sound of children crying, gunshots, sirens ( including Foundation security sirens), or motorized engines SCP-4xxx will begin to telepathically emit panicked images hypothesized to be memories of the London Blitz. Containment specialists that survived the containment breach of Site ██ reported feeling immense sadness and grief. All containment specialists within a 10 meter radius of SCP-4xxx during the incident fell unconscious within 3 minutes of the first sirens sounding. Dr. Geoghegan has recommended immediate changes to containment procedures and reclassification of SCP-4xxx to cognitohazard.
Addendum SCP-4xxx-2: Dr. ██████ attempted an interview with SCP-4xxx. As SCP-4xxx cannot physically respond Dr. ██████ took note of the sensations SCP-4xxx evoked. Below is a log of what Dr. ██████ experienced:
Interviewed: SCP-4xxx
Interviewer: Dr. ██████
<Begin Log>
Dr. ██████ writes, "Hello there."
Dr. ██████: "I feel warm. I think it's a greeting."
Dr. ██████ writes, "Do you have a name? Where are you from?"
Dr. ██████: "It's showing me a schoolhouse. I hear children laughing. There's the sound of the teacher. She sounds shaken."
Dr. ██████ writes, "Do you miss it? London?"
Dr. ██████: "It feels sad. I see a boy. Brown hair, blue eyes. He looks about 7. His name is… Billy?"
Dr. ██████ writes, "Do you miss Billy? Did something happen to him?"
Dr. ██████: "Fear. I feel nothing but fear. There's screaming coming from everywhere. I can feel the heat. Oh god, it's so hot. Stop. Stop it! Get out of my head!
<End Log>Closing Statement: Dr. ██████ lost consciousness following SCP-4xxx's last response.
After being rushed to the medical bay Dr. ██████ regained consciousness four hours and six minutes later reporting a throbbing headache and feeling hot. Dr. ██████ requested three glasses of ice cold water. This request was granted.
