Item #: SCP-5868

Object Class: Euclid, Thaumiel, Neutralized

Special Containment Procedures:

Description: SCP-5868 is a Caucasian male between eighteen (18) and twenty-five (25) years of age and is approximately 1.86 meters in height and 78.47 kg in weight. Strange markings can be found all over its body.

SCP-5868 insists on being called "Jo" rather than being labeled as SCP-5868 but due to protocol, it will continue to be referenced as SCP-5868 throughout this document.
In regards to its anomalous characteristic, SCP-5868 has the ability to materialize objects of infinite design and capabilities using a mysterious energy. The source of this energy is unknown. See Addendum 5868-1
After much testing and questioning, key limitations have been noted below:

  • If SCP-5868 materializes an object using a combination of particular motions (e.g. hand gestures, body movements, eye twitches, etc.), it cannot make an entirely different object using the same combination of bodily motions.
  • Even if each bodily motion is repeated correctly, SCP-5868 cannot materialize an object unless it can visualize that object in full clarity and detail.
  • As SCP-5868 materializes objects, the markings on its body disappear. When no markings remain, SCP-5868 cannot materialize until the full reappearance of said markings.
  • Overall, SCP-5868's biggest limitation is its own imagination.

Through much conversation, SCP-5868 claims to have arrived from another dimension and that its looking for more beings with similar anomalous characteristics, but has had no luck in its mission thus far. See Addendum 5868-2.

Dr. ████████: This is Dr. ████████. The date is June 11, 20██ This is the first interview with SCP-5868.

SCP-5868: You can call me Jo. That is my name after all. At least I'm fairly certain it is anyway. My memory isn't what it used to be. . .probably. I'm not sure it's all a bit fuzzy rea-

Dr. ████████: What are you?

SCP-5868: Excuse me?

Dr. ████████: What are you? Human? Extraterrestrial? An android? What?

SCP-5868: Um, human I guess, I-

Dr. ████████: You guess? You don't know?

SCP-5868: What? No I do. I mean I am human it's just I'm a bit confused as to what's going on. I mean I wake up in some metallic room unsure on how I got there, only to be dragged here and bound to this table with these contraptions. (SCP-5868 rattles the handcuffs chained atop the table.)

Dr. ████████: All right. . . All right then. How about we slow things down a bit. You said your name is Jo? Is that correct?

SCP-5868: Yes.

Dr. ████████: All right Jo, I am Dr. ████████. I've been assigned Head Researcher of SCP-5868. You. To keep this interview professional I will be addressing you as such. Do you understand?

SCP-5868: Not really but continue. Actually, just out of curiosity doctor. . .am I in trouble for something? Is crossing between dimensions like, outlawed? Because if it is I swear I had absolutely no idea. I was just looking for someone and my search led me here.

Dr. ████████: I'm sorry. You arrived here from another dimension?

SCP-5868: Is it outlawed? Because if it is I'd rather not admit to it. Actually I guess I kind of already did. Woops.

Dr. ████████: Honestly, I wouldn't know. Dimensional travel isn't exactly something we have general access to.

SCP-5868: Oh thank Gods. I thought I'd be in real trouble for it. See none of my companions had ever done it before so we had no idea whether or not there would be any kinds of consequences you know? Phew. . . So if I'm not in trouble, then what's going on?

Dr. ████████: Well, because you used your (clears throat) abilities in public, we had to capture and detain you I'm afraid.

SCP-5868: So I am in trouble? But I don't understand. I was trying to help. That child would be. . .would be gone if I hadn't stopped that horseless carriage. Are you saying that I shouldn't have saved the child?

Dr. ████████: Despite the good you did, you risked- No, you revealed to the public that the supernatural is real. We had to send multiple taskforces to give each and every witness amnestics before the media got a hold of it. It could very well have led to the Foundation's exposure.

SCP-5868: The Foundation? Is that a group? Is that where we are right now?

Dr. ████████: Yes and more or less. We are currently in one facility out of many across the world.

SCP-5868: So what exactly does the Foundation do? If it's okay to ask that. You made it pretty clear that this group is very top secret and doesn't want outsiders knowing of its existence.

Dr. ████████: Well we- (pauses)

Silence for approximately five (5) seconds.

Dr. ████████: I'll tell you what. If you answer my questions, I'll answer yours. Keep in mind there may be questions I cannot answer or answer fully due to confidentiality. So do we have a deal?

SCP-5868: Sounds fair to me. So long as you keep the same thing in mind with me. There are things I won't be able to tell you and things I simply won't tell you. Otherwise I'll try and be as open of a book as I can.

Note: Due to the extensiveness of the interview, it has been cut short as to not clutter the document. To see the entirety of the interview open file: Addendum 5868-1

[BEGIN LOG]

Dr. ████████: This is Dr. ████████. The date is June 15, 20██ This is the second interview with SCP-5868.

SCP-5868: Hello again doctor.

Dr. ████████: Hello 5868. You seem in better sorts than last time. How are you adjusting in your assigned quarters?

SCP-5868: It's fine. It was a little cramped and depressing so I made it feel more like home. I know what we discussed last time but I figured it would be fine. I mean it's not like anyone else is going to be staying in there. I assume.

Dr. ████████: No you won't need to worry about any of that. However, I will have to take a look and let the higher-ups know about it. But I don't see that being any real problem so it should be fine.

SCP-5868: So what was it you wanted to discuss more about again?

Dr. ████████: (Shuffles through notes) Last time you mentioned you had arrived here from another dimension. I was hoping we could discuss that further.

SCP-5868: Yeah sure no problem. What exactly did you want to know?

Dr. ████████: What was it like? Was it similar to this one? Was it different?

SCP-5868: It was. . .it is, beautiful. It's nothing like this world that's for sure. It's pretty obvious there's no. . .almost, no magic here. Where I come from, magic comes from nature. It's apparent that it's not the case for this world I'm sad to say.

Dr. ████████: What do you mean, "there's almost no magic here"?

SCP-5868: Though I've never actually possessed magic myself, I've somehow always been able to sense its presence. That's how I know there's something. It's small and quiet, too quiet for people to fully notice it, but it's there. How lonely it must be.

Dr. ████████: I'm sorry?

SCP-5868: How lonely it must be. To never be seen or heard from. Constantly trying to make your presence known, when those around you are all blind, deaf, and feel nothing. It's a sad existence.

Silence for approximately ten (10) seconds.

Dr. ████████: (Clears throat) So you mentioned last time (shuffles through notes) that you were looking for someone and that your search led you here. Were able to find them before your capture?

SCP-5868: Unfortunately no.

Dr. ████████: Speaking of which, I have to ask.

SCP-5868: Ask what doctor?

Dr. ████████: You don't seem to be agitated or annoyed at the very least. It would be perfectly reasonable for you to feel as such considering we put your search to a halt, and yet you've been nothing but compliant with us. I suppose what I'm asking is, why?

SCP-5868: Huh. I guess your right. I should be feeling as if my quest has been halted by the biggest of inconveniences. But a good friend of mine once told me, "Everything that happens, happens for a reason."
