Update:SCP-XXXX's containment procedures have been altered due to the incident in which all staff that had been in the general area of SCP-XXXX had been affected by SCP-XXXX to varying levels, due to SCP-XXXX breaching containment with the previously unknown ability to travel and spread through other light sources, determined to be a range of 25 meters in recent testing. after addendum: Zeta-9 Exploration, SCP-XXXX is to be turned off when not being tested.
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a class c artifact storage locker,
and is to be kept in a room with no other light sources other than SCP-XXXX at any time, and is not allowed to be closer than 25 meters to any other light source. SCP-XXXX is to be turned off, and further tests are to turn SCP-XXXX on only briefly. SCP-XXXX should only be monitored during tests administered by 2 personnel with the same security clearance of level 3 or higher. in the event of a containment breach, all light sources up to 100 meters away must be shut off immediately. any personnel that see their surroundings as black and white, turn off SCP-XXXX immediately and report to the nearest medical bay for evaluation.
Description: SCP-XXXX,"The Dark Bulb" is a pitch black incandescent light bulb roughly 13 centimeters in length. SCP-XXXX emits darkness instead of light you would see from a typical incandescent light bulb. However, when SCP-XXXX is viewed or captured in a picture by a camera of any kind, the bulb itself won't appear black, although the absence of light around the bulb will still be present in the picture or footage. The side effect of exposure to SCP-XXXX is an effect that will invert the appearance of light around the individual to different states and degrees, and will disappear suddenly when SCP-XXXX is turned off. this effect is often seen as and compared to a black and white effect. there are 5 stages, each having a different effect. the 5th stage is not permanent, as it wears off a week later. see Testing log A for more details. SCP-XXXX has also recently shown the ability to spread through other light sources up to 25 meters away, and turn it's surroundings black and white, which can be canceled by turning SCP-XXXX off.
Addendum: Recovery/Origin Records
The origin of SCP-XXXX is largely unknown, other than the fact that SCP-XXXX was confirmed to have originated from site 21 roughly 2 years ago. How or why SCP-XXXX was created is also unknown. SCP-XXXX was recovered from it's origin, site 21, specifically from artifact storage 2b, and foundation personnel had no recollection of how or why SCP-XXXX had appeared. Further testing is required to determine if this is another side effect of SCP-XXXX.
Addendum Testing Logs:
Testing log A: a D-class subject D-4756 enters SCP-XXXX's containment room and opens SCP-XXXX's locker. 1) 5 minutes of exposure: D-class subject reports that they feel that they're head is "fuzzy".
2) 15 minutes of exposure: D-class subject reports a sight based inversion of light, that dissipates an hour later.
3) 30 minutes of exposure: D-4756 reports the same light inversion, and reports a headache. dissipates after 2 hours. medical staff report a darker color iris than before the subject entered due to an increase of melanin.
4) 45 minutes of exposure: D-4756 reports the sight based inversion disappearing and reappearing in intervals of 5 minutes, and the subject begins to feel anxious. a migraine is also reported. subject reports that when they close their eyes, they have a hallucination where all they see is a black and white neighborhood in which its raining.
5) 1 hour of exposure: D-4756 reports they cant see, and begins to panic and appears flustered, and tries to escape the testing room, running into the door once, and then fell into a coma shortly after.
a week later: D-4756 wakes up, and the blindness has disappeared. and reports that they were in a reality of the same place they had hallucinated in stage 3. the subject reports that the neighborhood was on an island, and that it was always raining. there were no people there. when D-4756 was reintroduced to SCP-XXXX, the subject touched SCP-XXXX, and disappeared. 5 minutes later, D-4756 reappeared in SCP-XXXX's containment chamber, and after being questioned, reported they had been transported to the dimension they had seen in their coma.
Addendum: Zeta-9 Exploration
a squad of MTF Zeta-9(Mole Rats)had gone through SCP-XXXX's stages, and had all gone through SCP-XXXX to the dimension, designated SCP-XXXX-2.
