Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Since SCP-XXXX itself cannot be contained, statues as well as daily offerings are to be stored in a 1.8m by 1m shelf. The self itself is to be placed in a room with a fireplace. Food is to be burned at least three times a day at said fireplace. Animals found in SCP-XXXX’s room are to be fed and to be interacted with should they approach.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a female humanoid. It’s appearance varies depending on the observer but always seems to mimic ancient statues of the goddess Hecate. SCP-XXXX itself speaks of itself as said goddess. First contact with SCP-XXXX was made during the exploration of SCP-2731. SCP-XXXX was spotted in what appeared to be a room, lit by only a torch. SCP-XXXX appears to be always carrying said torch. SCP-XXXX is not visible on pictures or video-footage of any kind. Even though SCP-XXXX seems to prefer dimly lit rooms, the entity shows some kind of hostility against shadows of any kind.
Addendum #XXXX-1: “SCP-XXXX, collectively named ‘Hecate’ after the entity’s own request, appears in the form of three Caucasian women to me. Other staff members reported to observe SCP-XXXX in different forms too, but three Caucasian women seem to be the entity’s preferred appearance.
When photographed, SCP-XXXX is not to be seen present on the picture but is instead replaced by either the objects behind SCP-XXXX during the recording or, although rather rarely, by a beam of light. If said recordings and pictures are used with facial recognition technology, the programs will state the presence of a person.
Pictures shown to SCP-343 immediately catch fire though SCP-343 claims to be able to see SCP-XXXX clearly on each footage. Further contact between SCP-343 and SCP-XXXX wasn’t yet possible due to SCP-XXXX’s own request.
Staff members that engage in conversation with SCP-XXXX will receive advice regarding all decisions said staff members will have to face within the next 30 days if appropriate sacrifices are made to SCP-XXXX. After consulting SCP-XXXX myself twice, the entity’s advice regarding the lottery’s next winning numbers was correct the first time. However, when I did not sacrifice valuables to the entity the second time the numbers I received were wrong. Sacrifices are to be made by burning valuables, food, clothing etc. in the entity’s containment room which SCP-XXXX itself refers to as ‘shrine’. Further testing on this is currently prioritized.” - Dr. ████████
Addendum #XXXX-2: “After the death of Dr. ████████ through SCP-XXXX, full control over all projects regarding the entity was transferred to me. Documentation shows that Dr. ████████ did not take SCP-XXXX’s advice even after sacrificing a golden key which the entity took as a huge insult thus setting him ablaze.
After engaging in conversation with SCP-XXXX myself it seems that the entity’s ability’s and behavior fit the goddess Hecate’s ancient descriptions.
When surveying the entity’s containment cell, the image will turn black from time to time though no malfunctions are reported. As soon as the image returns to normal, animals or objects can be observed in the room that were not there a few seconds before.
Staff members trying to remove animals were instantly set ablaze and will burn to death with no way of putting out the fire.
When D-478 fed the animals there were a few seconds during which we couldn’t survey him. That night, he disappeared from his cell with no trace. When we questioned SCP-XXXX, the entity stated that D-478 had received some kind of blessing and was free to use it as he wished.
While trying to examine SCP-XXXX’s cell, we noticed how any light that is brought into the entity’s cell, with exception of the fireplace, that is not by a torch will not work as long as it is within the boundaries of the containment cell. When SCP-XXXX entered the cell as requested by us, all torches died out. The entity itself confirms that: ‘It is more easy to work magic in darkness’. The entity’s statement seems to explain SCP-XXXX’s residence inside of SCP-2731.
Furthermore, when asked about necromancy, SCP-XXXX will state that all it requires is a sacrifice to the entity. This will have to be inspected further” - Dr. █ █ █████
Addendum #XXXX-3: “SCP-XXXX was asked not to stay inside the site for long periods of time due to the change of behavior in other entitys. SCP-049 as well as multiple instances of SCP-049-2 were observed to be more hostile when SCP-XXXX was near. Humans infected with SCP-008 showed similar behavior.
SCP-XXXX itself has not stated anything regarding this change of behavior though seemed to be quite aware of it.
After the discover of SCP-XXXX’s necromancy abilities, a guard locked himself in the entity’s containment cell and started placing bowls filled with various fruits on the floor. I decided not to interfere when he started bowing to the entity’s statue. The room was filled by a bright flash of light and the guard was found dead on the floor, a woman standing over his dead body , the offerings gone. The woman which was documented as SCP-XXXX-1 appeared to be the guard’s recently deceased wife.
Due to SCP-XXXX’s necromancy abilities and it’s apparent immortality, cross-testing between SCP-XXXX and SCP-2935 is to be encouraged.” - Dr. █ █ █████
