Chapter 1: The Test
The train pulled into the station when Dr. Davis walked down the stairs to where the train sat, and he took a seat. As he entered the train, the door started to shut, fearing his trenchcoat would get caught he strafed forward and went to his seat. He checked the route of the train and looked for Cronton. He ran his finger across the map and then poked the Cronton train station. The train started to move, and Davis brought out his laptop from his messenger bag and pulled out his travel cup filled with tea. He logged onto the SCP:F database and checked for directions to his new facility.
SCPF Site 26 Located at ██████, Cronton, England.
“Alright, easy spot.” Said Davis.
After another 20 minutes, the train arrived at the train station, and Davis got off and walked towards ██████ His phone buzzed, and he checked the picture of the entrance to the site.
“Ah, it’s hidden as a reservoir entrance,”
He looked around, and then the door caught his eye, and he walked over.
“Stiff.” He said, trying to pry the door open.
He took his keycard out of his pocket and placed it on the lock, assuming it to be a scanner. Surprisingly, It worked. He pulled the door open and walked into the lift down to the main facility. Once down, he stood at Gate A, where a member of the security asked for his card. He flashed the card at the worker it read,
Dr, J Davis
Level 3
Scientific Department
The guard said,
“Come on in, Mr. Davis.”
The Gate opened, and Davis stepped inside and glanced around sector 1.
“Now to find my accommodation,” Said Davis.
He walked to room 1-0492 and unlocked the door. In the corner sat a bed nicely made topped with a blanket. In the other corner stood a desk with a pen and paper stacked atop. There was a note on top of that says.
‘Welcome to the Site 26 Scientific Department!!’
Davis smiled and then placed his things atop the bed and collected his stuff and walked towards the cantine for a cup of tea or coffee. He sat down at one of the tables and then looked to his side and saw a young girl attempt to get a coffee from SCP 294. Davis smirked and then continued to eat his croissant and drink his tea while reading up on the SCPs that Site 26 housed.
“173, huh,” Davis muttered, “Must be one of the 63 instances.”
Davis took another sip of his tea; he then winced in pain as he looked down on his pristine white shirt to see a drop of hot tea-stained on the breast pocket. He tried his best to cover the stain with his lab coat, but then the Director of Research walked over and said.
“Davis, first day on the job and your shirt is already dirty,” Said the director swinging slightly back and forth on his feet. The director then scurried off nervously after a good 5 seconds of standing near Doctor Davis.
“What a strange man,” Davis said after the director left. “I wonder why he’s like that?” He wondered.
“Hey,” Said one of the researchers, “I want to say, Davis?”
“Jacob Davis.” Replied Davis, “Pleasure to meet you.”
“Pleasure to meet you too, I’m Dr. White.” The Researcher replied. “If I’m correct you just transferred from Site 102 up in London, am I right on that?” He asked
“Yes, Sadly, Site 102 got shut down recently,” Replied Davis with a sad tone in his eyes.
“Loved that site,” Replied Dr. White.
“Anyway, I’ll see you around,” He said before leaving off to a meeting in the Lab.
A few hours passed before Dr. Davis saw the same girl as he did 3 hours ago in the cantine walking towards the science bay with a tray of coffee. He opened the door for the girl and then continued to the Science Offices to print off a test format before heading to the CDCZ to preform his first test at his new site. There was a slight buzz before the sound of the paper sliding through the printer bit by bit overtook the room. He took the template from the printer, and on his way out, he tripped on a metal bin overflowing with scrunched up balls of paper. Davis took one of the sheets and uncrumpled it. It read
Name: Dr. Jasmine Royals
Rank: Junior Researcher
Reason for a test; Would 049 do prefer or
“Wow, this girl is really bad.” Said Davis throwing the paper back into the bin. “I better get to the CD Containment so I can finally perform my test.”
Davis headed to the CDC to find an empty derelict room filled with what might as well of been cobwebs made of dust. He looked down in despair, and he walked away, frowning when he noticed a sign above the blast door.
“CLASS D CONTAINMENT CURRENTLY DECOMMISSIONED PLEASE PROCEED TO SECTOR 2B FOR TEST SUBJECTS.”
“That Explains a lot, ” Said Davis moving along to the Sector 1 area to have another think about his test.
He heard the clanging of what seemed to be tin cans, and he looked over his right to see a gathering of men all holding beer cans conformed on one singular table. Scanning their suits he deduced that they were a part of the Ethics Committee.
“They must be celebrating a case.” Thought Davis. “Perhaps it’s a gun misfire”
Davis took a sip of his drink and then stood up. He walked back towards the sector 2 airlocks so he could finally perform his test. As he walked past the cantine the sounds of the drunken men faded and the sounds of quite chatting of the CDC came in. Davis walked into a doctor
“Oh sorry,” Said the doctor in an apologetic voice.
“It’s Okay,” replied Davis.
Davis glanced at the doctor, They locked eyes and the doctor ran in the opposite direction from Davis. Davis rolled his eyes and continued on his path to get CD for his test. Davis scanned the keycard and once again entered into Sector 2 and he walked slowly through the corridor when his eye caught a certain room.
“ABANDONED ROOM DO NOT ENTER”
Davis always stuck to rules but this was a different matter. An Abandoned room. In the largest SCP Facility on the west side of England, there weren’t many things that could be in there. Davis walked through the door and peeked his head around the corner. Around 100 metal boxes were stacked around the room.
“Could they be SCPs?” he thought before moving back out of the room.
“Must be nothing,” He said
Davis walked back towards where the CDs were located and entered a briefing room. Over his radio on the testing channel, he spoke.
“Dr. Davis Requesting 1 CD and 2 Security Personnel to the Second Briefing room, Thank you.”
30 seconds later 2 guards entered the room with a cuffed CD.
“Can you brief him?” Said Davis to the guard
“Sure” replied the guard.
The Guard began to a paragraph going along the lines of
“Follow everything the host says and don’t stray from the testing party”
The CD agreed to the terms he was given and they began to walk through the winding corridors towards Sector 2 B where the majority of low-class SCPs where held. They walked into the room with a sign reading “SCP 316”. The Class D sat down and the guards each stood at a door waiting for instructions off Davis.
“Could one of you get 3 cups, 2 filled with water 1 filled with ice, and a piece of paper.” Asked Daivs.
The guard obliged and scurried off out of the room and into the cafeteria. The clock ticked slowly and eventually, the guard came running back through the door holding the cups
“Here sir,” Said the guard passing the cups 1 by 1 to Davis.
“Thank you.” He replied
Davis instructed the CD to enter the room and place down the cups and cover 1 cup with the piece of paper and take a sip of the water without swallowing it. The CD entered doing as he was told and as the door shut Davis flipped the light switch turning on SCP 316. The CD stood still for a moment before realizing he was slowly turning a grey hue. He spat out the water and darted towards the window. Bursting through it. The CD grabbed onto Davis by the hand before the guards shot him dead. Davis’ hand started to turn a grey hue and became rock hard. The 2 guards rushed him to the medical bay while Davis screamed in agony. When he arrived the doctor signaled to head right through. 10 seconds later 3 doctors ran in carrying a large tank of Liquid Nitrogen. Davis was told to submerge his arm in the gas and immediately the stone stopped crawling up Davis’ arm and hardened instantly. Davis let out a sigh of relief and the doctors told him to get some rest and head to his room. He of course obliged and he walked to his room shivering from the temperature of the nitrogen. He sat down on his bed and Layed his arm atop a pillow. He grabbed the small tablet on the bedside table and unlocked it. He opened the service app and requested some food from the cafeteria along with a tray of hot towels. He groaned and turned on his TV opening Netflix and selecting a show to watch while he rested. He sniggered at the TV when he got a knock at the door.
“I have an order for Jacob Davis”
“Come on in” replied Davis.
A foundation personnel member entered the room with a tray of food and the hot towels Davis ordered. They placed them on the table and then left closing the door behind them. Davis placed one of the towels on his hand and started to eat his food. He continued to watch the TV and about an hour later Davis drifted off to sleep.
Chapter 2: A New Friend
Davis awoke and blinked slowly checking the room. He glanced over at his left arm and opened his eyes and let out a small squeal. He then remembered the previous day’s events and how his arm is now made of stone. He threw the quilt off of his bed and be began to move his joints to get rid of the strain he experienced overnight. He stood up and walked to the bathroom and splashed water onto his face before shaking it rapidly. He blinked again and went towards his wardrobe and picked out his uniform. He got dressed and exited the ScD accommodation block. He strolled towards the cafeteria to grab a cup of tea and a croissant. Davis picked up his cup and selected “TEA” on SCP 294. He went and sat down and took a sip of his tea before he heard a loud Beep from his Pager. He spilled his drink over his shirt and muttered angrily.
“NOT AGAIN!!”
He picked up his pager and checked what it said, it read
“Dr. Davis, Could you come to the Narcotics Lab so we can do so examination on your arm.”
Davis walked towards the lab and was greeted by one of his colleagues before being let into the lab where he was met by 5 lab techs all researching heavily into chunks of the CD that Davis tested on the day before. One of the lab techs invited Davis over to their microscope and asked him to place his hand underneath the lens. He obliged and carefully placed his left hand underneath the small lens. The lab tech looked closely at the hand and made a questioning him before saying.
“It looks as though the hand is now made of concrete.” He said
“Wait my hand is concrete!?” Davis said in shock.
“It seems so” Replied the scientist
The scientist examined it more looking into every single crevice of the arm. Every 20 seconds adding another lens until he reached molecules. All the molecules that are in a normal arm were still inside of the stone arm. It seemed as though instead of effecting the substance it merely clumped all the atoms until they formed a concrete-like material. The Scientist ran towards the pile of stone subjects and took a small chuck and lied it under the microscope. He pulled a chemical from under his desk labeled “Atom Separation Chemical” The chunk of stone was dropped slowly into the liquid and Davis moved his eye to the small cup and watched the stone slowly turn into an unrolled piece of skin. He moved back in disgust and also in shock. How could this simple-looking chemical move a piece of skin effected by SCP 316 back to the origin?
“I’m honestly surprised I didn’t try this later,” Said the scientist calling over his colleagues
The scientists gathered around and sighed in awe. Staring at the piece of skin. They talked loudly among each other and Davis left the lab. Heading back towards the accommodation block to rest once again. He strolled down the halls whistling with a swing in his step. Reaching the door entering into the ScD accommodation Davis’ eyes glanced at the storage closet. He hurried over and opened the door, there was a creak. And Davis gasped in awe at the number of shelves and objects that were stacked among the metal shelves. He ran his finger across the small signs each reading what was on the shelve.
“Water”
“Cups”
“Metal Trays”
It went on forever so it seemed. Davis reached where the notebooks and paper were stored and he managed to find a hardcover notebook in which he could write his thoughts down to share them with himself. This way he could cope with the stress of having a job in one of the most dangerous facilities on the face of the planet. Despite knowing that he could easily do this all online with a program such as Microsoft Word Davis decided he would go old school and use a pen. He grabbed the pen out of his pocket and left the storage room still in awe at the sight of the large towering shelves. He read the inscription on his pen.
“Happy 30th Birthday”
It was from his wife. He thought of her and their children. He thought of how he hadn’t seen them in 5 years apart from the occasional text message. What if his wife got remarried while he was gone. What if his kids had forgotten him. They probably had considering the last time he saw them they were only around 3 years old.
“The Document Cabinet!” Davis exclaimed as a rush of thought went through his veins
“I can look through the document cabinet for proof of Personnel’s family members coming to live here”
He darted out of the room almost forgetting the notebook. He backed up, grabbed the notebook, and once again ran out of the room. His repeatably pressed the open button with his thumb and as it opened the image of a woman in her mid-twenties to the early thirties with curly white hair which seemed to be more exposure to chemicals more than stress or age. Her face suggested she was of English-German descent wearing red a black formal business attire topped off with a matching fedora. Davis glanced over at her name tag it read.
“Dr. J, Royals”
“Junior Researcher”
“What were you doing in the supply room” Said Royals looking down at Davis with her fists on her hips
“Erm, I was grabbing a notebook” Replied Davis scoffing
“Boring!” Royals bellowed pushing Davis out of the way “There’s far cooler stuff in that room old man”
“I’m no old ma-” Davis said before realizing he was nearing 40 years of age, “Okay maybe I am but I’m not that old”
Royals grabbed Davis’ hand and pulled him through the shelves until they reached the section which read.
LEVEL 3+ ACCESS ONLY
Royals pulled out a Level 3 keycard and swiped the reader. They entered the Airlock into where more objects were stored and low and behold, Shelves among shelves were piled with patented ideas, Chemicals, Cloning devices. DNA samples, Inflatable beds, Shrink Rays, Everything in a child’s dreams were here. Davis’ jaw dropped as he looked around whilst Royals ran around poking stuff and seeing what it did. She ran so fast from one side of the room to the other she looked as though she was teleporting.
“Royals what are you doing?” Said Davis puzzled at her speed.
“Oh, I got a teleportation device from here” Said Royals still searching through the shelves.
“I don’t think you’re allowed that” Replied Davis in a commanding tone.
“Oh! Well then just make a list of things I can’t do at the foundation” Came back a sarcastic voice.
“Noted” Davis spoke under his breath
Davis began to drag Royals out of the room and back out the storage closet.
“Really Royals,” Davis chimed in, “Put it back.”
Royals dumped the device in the bin and walked off to the science lab grabbing her headphones and plugging them into her phone. Not only was this a violation of the Science Department Guidelines, but It also showed just how much of a slacker Royals was. Davis entering into the document storage unit and took the box of documents saying.
Visitation Documents
Could this be the way that Davis gets his family to Site 26? Possibly so. Davis took the document and copied it before placing it back in the box and placing the box back on the shelve. He left the room full of glee and with a swing in his step. He scanned the keycard to his room and sat down on his desk and with the pen his wife gave him he filled out every part of the document, not only including the injury contract but the amnestics precaution as well (The amnestics precautions are in case 1 individual knows too much about the foundation without working there they should be given Class-A amnestics on the spot regardless of who they are). Davis signed the last box and ran over to the Security Admissions office, document in hand. Once he had reached his destination he slammed down the document on the desk and slid it over through the glass window. The secretary working there checking over the paperwork and brought out a stamp. Davis hoped it didn’t say Denied, luckily, he was right, it didn’t. The secretary slid the paper back over and Davis jumped with happiness. So much happiness he also forgot about how the Lab techs could fix his hand. This of course made him even happier. He ran to the cafeteria and grabbed a cup. And he did something he’d never thought he’d do when on duty. He selected
“BEER”
The alcohol filled the cup leaving a thin layer of froth on top. Davis took a sip and wiped his mouth before heading back to his room to process everything that just happened. Davis’ new life at Site 26 was looking up for the first time and maybe this time around he’d enjoy his life.
Davis’ previous site - Area 27- was attacked by nuclear bombs with caused Davis to have to of course leave the sign and head to this new site.
Chapter 3: The Family.
Davis walked to gate A and was greeted by the security administrator who opened the door and let in Davis' family. His heart raced and he leaped towards his wife hugging her and he whispered into her ear.
"I've missed you so much"
"I've missed you too" Replied Mrs. Davis
Davis' 2 children ran towards him and hugged his legs as they were still quite small compared to him. Davis leads them to where they would be staying. He pulled the key out of his pocket, this was a different key than the one that the Science Department had given him, This was a larger more modern room. They entered slowly taking in the large space. The Children immediately ran towards the large basket of toys in the corner. Davis never remembered asking for a toybox. He walked over to it and picked up a note which read.
"A present from a friend"
He flipped it over and it had a signature scrawled onto the back of it. Davis was surprised that she would give him a gift when they only met a day ago. He thought to himself
"Silly Royals"
He then went to check out the bedroom that they had been provided with. He crossed his fingers hoping it would be as amazing as he imagined. He opened the door slowly and a beam of light went across the carpet and he then walked across the room towards the bed and sat on it, looking at the TV. Mrs. Davis looked at his hand and said.
"Jacob, what happened to your hand!?"
"Oh, it got turned to stone by a lamp. Don't ask because I can't answer." He replied to his wife.
"Elizabeth could you pass the TV remote please?" Davis said to his wife kindly
"Sure." She replied handing him the remote.
Davis turned on the TV and switched over to the comedy channel. The pair sat together for about an hour before turning the channel until they found something better to watch. Davis had scrolled through the entire channel list twice so he stopped and just ended up turning off the TV.
