Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a standard humanoid containment cell, with insulation to ensure that the cell is soundproof. It is to be fed 1 cup of non-anomalous cat food each day. Its cell is to be cleaned on a weekly basis, and during this cleaning SCP-XXXX is to be moved to another location to have its nails clipped and be checked for health concerns by a qualified Veterinarian. Personnel cleaning SCP-XXXX's cell are to have noise-canceling earplugs in at all times while in the vicinity of the entity. It is to be watched over a video camera by personnel at all times, but no audio devices are to be present in its cell at any time.

Upon discovery, any instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be captured, studied, and then terminated. The bodies of any SCP-XXXX-1 are to be incinerated after testing.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a female cat with a length of 30 centimeters and a weight of 5 kilograms. It has short, dark grey fur and is of the breed British Shorthair. It has bright orange eyes that emit light. It is unknown if the entity has eyes, however, it has shown behavior which would suggest that it can see, and is aware of its containment. The entity is friendly towards staff and allowed staff to hold and pet the entity if so desired before proper procedures were put in place. It is capable of basic vocalizations, such as meowing and hissing.

If a person hears SCP-XXXX's vocalizations, the subject will incur significant negative cognitive effects, eventually causing the subject to become an instance of SCP-XXXX-1, an outcome that has occurred in all test subjects.

The subject will initially exhibit no signs of anomalous effects, apart from the development of a migraine and a perpetual ringing in their ears. 1-2 days after initial exposure, the subject will begin displaying symptoms similar to those of a concussion, including blurred vision, confusion, fatigue, and/or vomiting. The subject will then express a desire to visit SCP-XXXX again, regardless of how they felt about SCP-XXXX prior to exposure. After an additional 2-3 days, the subject will begin exhibiting severe symptoms such as memory lapses, severe confusion, and loss of motor functions. Its desire to be reunited with SCP-XXXX increases drastically at this stage. After only 12 hours of this stage, the subject, now dubbed SCP-XXXX-1 will do whatever possible to deliver a specific item to SCP-XXXX. These items have in the past included food items, weaponry, clothing, and foundation data. In one particular case, an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 attempted to bring SCP-XXXX Dr. ██████, which resulted in the instance's immediate termination.

It is speculated that SCP-XXXX is a hive-mind, however, the mechanisms by which SCP-XXXX integrates and controls SCP-XXXX-1 instances are unknown. An autopsy of one SCP-XXXX-1 instance demonstrated that the areas of the brain responsible for motor control and decision making, as well as the brain stem, had been corroded by high levels of [REDACTED], as well as some substances not yet identified by foundation staff. However, the centers which control higher brain function and awareness remained intact.

No remedy or cure for the effects of SCP-XXXX has been found as of yet, but research into the matter is ongoing.

Test A - 1/30/2006

Subject: A non-anomalous British Shorthair cat unrelated to SCP-XXXX.

Procedure: Exposing the subject to SCP-XXXX for a period of 15 minutes.

Results: While contained together, SCP-XXXX and the subject seemed to get along, meowing at one another and pawing at each other. After the exposure period, the subject was placed in a standard humanoid containment cell for observation. It was provided with a litter box and 1 cup of cat food each day of its quarantine. For approximately the first 36 hours of its containment, the subject displayed no unusual behavior.
