Item #: SCP-4289
Object Class: Euclid Keter
Special Containment Procedures: updated █/██/2009) SCP-4289 is contained within the Armed Containment Facility at Site-19, in Repurposed Earth-Covered Magazine (RECM) D-███. It is housed inside a nine meter (9m) by nine meter (9m) by nine meter (9m) cell erected within the RECM, comprised of concrete 35.56cm in thickness and reinforced with four rows of grid-laid rebar. The inner-face of the walls should be smoothed and all creases filled until seamless. All corners are to be angled at 45º with an anchoring rebar and uniformly smooth with the rest of the cell.
During the Active Period, from the March equinox to the Paschal full moon, the cell is to be inspected for damages indicative of an attempted containment breach. The cell is to be inspected for damages indicative of an attempted containment breach, daily. If such signs are discovered, members of Composite Containment Unit 4289 (CCU 4289; “Bobby’s Builders”), Strategic Response Group 21 (SRG 21; “Deep Shields”), are to immediately conduct repairs. If repairs are estimated to last until after Official Sundown, CCU 4289 engineers are to be changed with assigned D-class personnel to complete remaining repairs. If repairs are complete ten minutes (10min) prior Last Rays, D-class repair crews are to be released from the cell. Otherwise, all D-class personnel are to be considered potentially lost and under no circumstance should SCP-4289's cell be opened until Official Sunup.
D-class that have survived the night are to be debriefed, interviewed, and evaluated for further use to the project. Any D-class that have lost limbs should be reassigned to duties fitting of their newly acquired disability or terminated. Class-B amnestics are to be used for those personnel negatively affected by the Lockdown Incident and reevaluated for repurposing, up to and including Repairs & Construction Retraining by CCU 4289 HaS Co. S3 (Operations) Training Officer, Lt. ██████ █████ ███.
Testing or interaction with SCP-4289 must be approved by lead researcher Dr. ██████ ███████. For the time being, no testing will be conducted during the Active Period. See Incident Report 4289-4 for further details.
Note: Unless rescinded by Dr. ███████ or myself, all efforts devoted to SCP-4289 are to focus on containment rather than research, indefinitely. –O5-██
Description: SCP-4289 appears to be a creature constructed of dead or diseased flesh, muscle, and bone with large parts of its body fused with an as-of-yet discovered species of tree (including tree trunk portions and a “mane” of roots), and bears a grossly oversized European hare (Lepus europaeus) skull fitted with Eurasian elk (Alces alces) antlers. It stands nearly four meters (~4m) tall and walks on four legs—two digitigrade hind legs and a pair of three-joined fore legs with paw-like feet upon which it can grab, maul, or crush with. A pair of fully-functional human arms and hands are attached to narrow shoulders just behind the skull and appear to be blackened with decomposition.
SCP-4289 is aggressive and will attempt containment breach when active, intentionally seeking out human subjects to consume in large bites utilizing its incisors to sever limbs and body parts at general joints and swallowing the pieces whole. It is uncertain whether or not it digests the flesh consumed or stores it for some other purpose. X-ray and CAT scans as well as physical searches SCP-4289’s inanimate remains produces no sign of consumed materials.
When inactive, SCP-4289 appears to be a mound of its components and would easily be overlooked or avoided in its original environment. It emits a general sense of unease, perhaps as a defense mechanism while it regenerates lost parts of its body or heal inflicted wounds. There is also a strong odor associated with decaying flesh that wards off potential human interests; animal testing suggests that neither the sense of dread or decaying smell adversely affect any creatures that are not human.
Procurement: SCP-4289 was recovered on █/██/1982 […]
SCP-4289 now resides at Site-██.
