Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained within a Provisional Object Containment Chamber inside Provisional Site-39 within ███████ ████.

As of ██/██/2018, Provisional Site-39 has been under a protracted siege by multiple hostile groups, limiting the material available to active personnel. As such, the use of the following materials are in ration for staff stationed at Provisional Site-39 until further notice:

  • All amnestic supplies
  • Reality anchor devices
  • Conventional ammunition
  • Testing supplies

AMTF Nu-7 is to be on constant standby if a loss of communication is reported with the site during the siege period. If a loss in communication is detected, AMTF Nu-7 will be deployed to the Site with the objective of preventing the loss of possession of SCP-XXXX to any hostile force that may have entered the facility.

These measures are to be maintained until the Foundation is able to permanently relieve the site, or until the SCP has ceased ████ ███████████. At this point, should the site still be under siege, AMTF Nu-7 and will be deployed to retrieve the object from the site and the O5-Council immediately notified.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a size 11 ring consisting of 79% antimonial lead, inscribed with ancient Hebrew symbols that resemble the Seal of Solomon. It has a mass of 9 ounces. Due to damage that the ring has sustained, the inscribed wording along the ring band has been deemed indecipherable until the repair process of the SCP finalises.

SCP-XXXX has two confirmed states of being, an active state and a dormant state.

At the current time, the ring is in a dormant state wherein it's previously mentioned anomalous properties are not active. One anomalous property remains - the ring is self-repairing. Matter is not drawn from any known source as far as can be discerned, but investigations are still ongoing. Testing done on the repair rate indicates that the ring recovers approximately 250 milligrams of mass every year, distributed evenly along the frame of the ring.

In an active state, the SCP's true power comes to fruition. The SCP has the capability to cause a mass memetic shift, altering and removing memories of large groups of people. There is one confirmed use of the ring in history, that being Otto III's mass manipulation of memory to forge the Carolingian era. However, another suspected use is from the biblical figure Noah, as pointed towards by secondary documents that MTF Delta-5 "Front Runners" secured. An upper limit to the ring's capability to alter the memory of humans is not known, however, all uses must have been in the millions at minimum estimates.

Following utilisation, a large portion of SCP-XXXX's mass is destroyed in an █████████ ████████, though the method through which this is accomplished is currently unknown. Records obtained from the Vatican Archives display the ring in a constantly repairing state from the point of last use. Previously mentioned analysis of the repair rate of the ring displays that to recover from a near complete destruction, the ring must repair itself for nearly a millennium. Due to the SCP's near full repair to a standard ring at the current time, we can assume that the SCP requires a total repair for utilisation.

Yet, a large group of ancient civilisations seem to have a flood myth, despite many of them having no connection to each other. Noah utilising SCP-XXXX explains this phenomena and fits into the timeframe of use.
Otto III The last use of SCP-XXXX has been determined to be Otto III's fabrication of the Carolingian period (614AD – 911AD) placing him at the year 1000 AD as Holy Roman Emperor with the intent of giving himself and Pope Gregory eternal fame due to the time of their respective reigns occurring on 1000 AD - a year after Christ's death. This is also known as the 'Phantom Time Hypothesis' - the mass memetic memory insertion being the cause of said 'phantom time'.
