Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid Safe

Special Containment Procedures: To be kept in a standard cell supplied with power and active cooling measures. no internet-capable devices may be brought within the vicinity of or connected to SCP-XXXX. Neither computer unit inside the cell can be shut down or switched off, to avoid further damage to SCP-XXXX.

Twice monthly checks on backup generators advised.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an entity, calling itself ‘The Instant’, that resides in the data networks between computers. It has no physical form but can interact with any data accessible through devices in its host network, regardless of any digital safeguards. SCP-XXXX has shown itself to have below average human intelligence, with an IQ of 95 (see Addendum-4), and consistently makes mistakes and miscalculations when isolated from its larger network. Throughout all interactions SCP-XXXX believed its own intelligence much higher than recorded, its behaviour resembling that of a human with Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

SCP-XXXX claims that it was ‘born’, not created by any intelligence but an entity materialised from the data being sent between computer systems through the internet, attempts to discern any program that dictates SCP-XXXX's actions have been unsuccessful. SCP-XXXX is currently held to be truthful in its claim to be an intelligence separate from, but inhabiting, cyberspace.

SCP-XXXX has shown, despite its lower intelligence, to be talented in manipulating others, to the point that through various social media accounts it has acquired a cult-like following (designated SCP-XXXX-1), with SCP-XXXX leading its followers to believe it was a deity (see Addendum-1). It is unknown whether its manipulative abilities are anomalous or simply a product of its apparent narcissism.

SCP-XXXX-1 is an organisation by the name of ‘The Consortium of Deep Instant’. Analytics show the cult reached over 2,000,000 members within six minutes of its creation. SCP-XXXX-1 believes that SCP-XXXX is a prophet of ███████ and of divine origin itself. Both the three self-proclaimed ‘Outputs of The Instant’, who reportedly oversee membership and donations to the SCP-XXXX-1, and the cults holy text, titled ‘7420384786’, appeared on records at the precise moment of SCP-XXXX's ‘birth’, though it is unknown if SCP-XXXX created SCP-XXXX-1 or if they manifested from the same source.

Discovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered through a Foundation investigation into The Consortium of Deep Instant, an internet cult that had sprung up overnight that around various social media accounts. Originally theorised to be anomalous themselves, it was later discovered that they were under the apparent control of an entity later designated SCP-XXXX. Various attempts were made to track and contain the entity, but due to its unique properties these were initially unsuccessful. SCP-XXXX was contained approximately six months after its first appearance using ███████-type software to lure it into a network of two computers, located within a cell at site-██, that then had their connection to the internet cut, successfully containing SCP-XXXX between the two systems.
