Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within an airtight 3m x 3m x 3m containment unit made of reinforced concrete with a single, 5cm thick ballistic glass window. The containment unit must also be outfitted with an Ultra-Low Freezing unit. The interior of the unit should be kept at a minimum of -100 degrees Celsius (see addendum). During times that SCP-XXXX is allowed to thaw, it is to be monitored constantly. Should it show signs of hostility, personnel are to activate the Freezing Unit, cooling SCP-XXXX until it is rendered inert. During transport, SCP-XXXX must be secured in a vacuum-sealed, Frozen Mobile Containment Unit and monitored by no fewer than four armed guards at all times.
Description: SCP-XXXX consists of two components: a black frozen mass (SCP-XXXX) and a humanoid entity (SCP-XXXX).
SCP-XXXX is a black, cylindrical frozen mass, approximately 2.4 meters tall and 0.9 meters in radius. SCP-XXXX's surface has been documented to be free of any markings. It is believed that SCP-XXXX is of extra-terrestrial nature, but can no longer be analyzed due to the events of Incident XXXX-A, resulting in the creation of SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX-1 is a humanoid entity 1.75 meters in height and 102.5 kg in weight. It resembles a standard SCP Foundation Security guard in full uniform, but coated in a thick, black, viscous substance, similar in appearance to that of crude oil. Despite the humanoid appearance, X-rays have determined that SCP-XXXX-1 does not possess a human skeletal structure beneath its outer layer. SCP-XXXX-1 appears to be organic in nature, though tests yield inconclusive results. SCP-XXXX-1 comprehends and speaks English, though its voice reverberates while talking, as if in an echo chamber.
SCP-XXXX was discovered frozen inside a resurfaced sheet of ice on ██/██/████ during an expedition out of McMurdo Station, Antarctica. The mass's surface showed signs of organic, undulating, fluid-like behaviour. Foundation agents were notified and dispatched retrieval team Oscar 6-A to secure SCP-XXXX-1 aboard the USS [REDACTED] in order to bring it to Site-██.
During transportation, SCP-XXXX rapidly liquified into a black, viscous substance and seemingly adhered to the only living being in the room, Corp. Norman Icarus, who sealed the door, preventing further containment breach. Icarus’ unit, retrieval team Oscar 6-A, requested to move in and secure Icarus. This request was denied by on-site senior administration.
The containment unit remained locked until it reached Site-██ on ██/██/████. The cell was moved to the site's Biohazard Containment Facility and placed inside a vacuum-sealed quarantine unit. The research team, led by Dr. Rand S██████, remotely opened the cell to find Icarus alive, though his equipment and clothing were coated in the black, viscous substance. SCP-XXXX had seemingly absorbed Icarus, now referred to as SCP-XXXX-1.
After exposure to SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-1 underwent physical changes at the molecular level. Though it persists and maintains its humanoid form, SCP-XXXX-1 has the ability to rapidly shift to a liquid form, similar to that of a non-Newtonian fluid, before changing back. Both breaches of containment have been made this way prior to SCP-XXXX-1’s current containment.
SCP-XXXX-1 has the ability to quickly regenerate damaged and severed limbs within seconds, as well as reform itself after being completely torn apart, as demonstrated during the events of Incident-XXXX-B. Pieces of itself that are unable to reconnect, such as during Incident-XXXX-B where SCP-XXXX-1's lower torso was severed from the rest of its body and locked in a sealed room, repeatedly attempt to reconnect to SCP-XXXX-1. However, after the severed section is fully regenerated, the severed piece of SCP-XXXX-1 dissolves away completely, leaving behind no trace.
Addendum:
A test was conducted to determine what methods are best suited for containing and restraining SCP-XXXX-1. Conventional restraints proved useless and all other methods tried thus far have proven ineffective. Dr. Rand S██████ speculated that perhaps freezing the subject would at least slow it down, if not completely restrain it. At -30 degrees Celsius, SCP-XXXX-1 shows signs of slowing. At -50 degrees Celcius, subject shows signs of solidification, becoming gelatinous. Subject can no longer liquify. At -100 degrees Celsius, SCP-XXXX-1 stops all signs of activity. Freezing SCP-XXXX-1 at a minimum consistent temperature of -100 degrees Celsius seems to be the only way to restrain and incapacitate it without issue.
Due to SCP-XXXX-1's unpredictable nature, Dr. Rand S██████ recommends that SCP-XXXX-1 should be frozen at all times while not under examination.
Audio log from Interview XXXX-08
Interviewer: Dr. Rand S██████
Interviewed: SCP-XXXX-1
Interview is from ██/██/████, two days before Incident-XXXX-B
<Begin Log>
(Dr. Rand S██████ is seated at a table outside of SCP-XXXX-1's Containment Unit)
Dr. Rand S██████: Good morning. How are we today?
SCP-XXXX-1: Is the freezing cold box necessary?
Dr. Rand S██████: I'm afraid it is. Your abilities make you unpredictable, so…
(SCP-XXXX-1 nods)
Dr. Rand S██████: Let’s begin, shall we? Why don't you introduce yourself, SCP-XXXX-1?
SCP-XXXX-1: Corporal Norman Icarus. You already know this.
Dr. Rand S██████: You maintain the belief that you’re human?
SCP-XXXX-1: Yes, of course I’m still human. Stop asking me that!
Dr. Rand S██████: Under the current circumstances it’s no giant leap to say that you've changed, is it?
SCP-XXXX-1: What the [REDACTED] are you trying to tell me? That I don’t know who I am? What I am? I’m not some… [REDACTED] up monster!
Dr. Rand S██████: Please calm down. I meant no offence. How have you been feeling?.
SCP-XXXX-1: (sits down, visibly distressed) Can I see my team?
Dr. Rand S██████: We'll get to that. How have you been feeling? It’s been [REDACTED] since the retrieval incident. Any changes?
SCP-XXXX-1: I… I feel weird. Heavy. Like I’ve gained weight. I don’t sleep. I don’t get tired at all actually. I don’t get hungry, I don’t get thirsty.
Dr. Rand S██████: How do you change shape? Liquify?
SCP-XXXX-1: It’s, sort of a reflex… like when you want to close your fingers. It just happens when I want it to.
Dr. Rand S██████: And your regenerative ability?
SCP-XXXX-1: I don’t know, I don’t control that. It just happens.
Dr. Rand S██████: Hmm… (Dr. Rand notes this)
SCP-XXXX-1: (SCP-XXXX-1 approaches the glass) Doc, please, when can I see my team? I've been kept frozen in a box for [REDACTED] without any visitors.
Dr. Rand S██████: I'm sorry, XXXX-1, but I don't have that information. How did your mergence with SCP-XXXX feel? Was it painful?
SCP-XXXX-1: Yes… It felt like my skin was on fire. Like I was being dissolved in acid.
Dr. Rand S██████: That sounds… awful.
(SCP-XXXX-1 paces around the room. Dr. Rand S██████ jots down notes)
SCP-XXXX-1: Please, just let me see my team. Just once! Do they at least know that I'm alive?
Dr. Rand S██████: Retrieval team Oscar 6-A have not been informed of your condition at present time, no.
SCP-XXXX-1: Could you relay a message to them? Tell them I'm alive and don't blame them for what happened. Could you especially tell A████ that it's not her fault?
Dr. Rand S██████: (nods) I'll see what I can do.
SCP-XXXX-1: Thank you, Dr. S██████. Is there anything else you wanna know?
Dr. Rand S██████: No, I believe that'll be all for today, XXXX-1. (Dr. Rand S██████ gathers his things) I'm sorry to have to put you in the freezer again. I'll be back as soon as I can for another interview.
SCP-XXXX-1: I get it. See you soon, doc.
<End Log>
Incident-XXXX-A After-action report:
██/██/████ Containment breach occurred when SCP-XXXX rapidly liquified into a black, viscous substance. Corporal Norman Icarus, the only guard present inside, sealed the chamber door to prevent contamination spread by SCP-XXXX (now completely liquified). Audio surveillance recorded Icarus' muffled screams lasting a total of three minutes and thirty-two seconds after the door was sealed. SCP-XXXX was contained.
Incident-XXXX-B After-action report:
██/██/████ Containment breach occurred when SCP-XXXX-1 was broken out by retrieval team Oscar 6-A. They were discovered, the alarm sounded, and their escape attempt was unsuccessful. SCP-XXXX-1 was temporarily incapacitated by a door mechanism, giving Foundation personnel ample time to seal SCP-XXXX-1’s head and upper torso inside of an airtight container. SCP-XXXX-1 was returned to its containment unit and refrozen. All members of retrieval team Oscar 6-A were terminated on sight.
