Item #: SCP-5045
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5045 is to be contained in a 20m by 20m airtight steel container on bio-site-██ . This structure is to have air vents cycling fresh air bi-hourly, at which point the gas exiting the cell should be disposed of using procedure Madan 5x. The floor of the cell is to have a layer of soil in the container of at least 1m container an irrigation system that when not in use is closed off from the outside. Under this layer of soil, there is to be 2-inch-thick steel panels. The roof of the cell must be at least 5 inches of reinforced bulletproof glass. The cell must be monitored for damage weekly to prevent any possible breaches, no matter how unlikely.
Description: SCP-5045 appears to be a plant-based mass resembling an angiosperm flower bud. Some of the visual differentiation between its non-anomalous counterpart is that SCP-5045 is a rich hue of red (compared to the typical light pink found in angiosperm flower buds). Further visual differences include SCP-5045 is 4 meters in width at its widest point of the bud, SCP-5045 is now observed to grow 5cm thicker per week. Based on this rapid growth and movement inside of SCP-5045 it appears that something is growing inside of it. When thermal scanning was implement there was a heat signature inside of SCP-5045, likely meaning that it is alive and as such is now categorized as SCP-5045-1.
SCP-5045 is of unknown origin (see interview 56-K and incident log 239-I) and sapience however based on tests conducted on SCP-5045, it is sentient and will attack any hostile threats. These methods of defense have been recorded below:
- Poisonous gas of unknown chemical structure (Anomalous qualities have ranged from incapacitating the targeted individual/s to disintegrating any non-plant life in its vicinity)
- Vine-like appendages that are primarily used as interact with external items, these appendages can grow thick thorns that are coated with the aforementioned poison
- Manipulation, creation and anomalization of any plant life in a radius of 15m
While SCP-5045 does not feed in the traditional sense of plantlife it still obtains nutrients and moisture from the soil, however it primarily feeds by wrapping its appendages around any meat and absorbing the nutrients using its poison as a dissolvent. It has been tested that SCP-5045 prefers cattle or pig but will eat any meat of nutritional value. This being noted SCP-5045 refrains from eating any intelligent life and suprisingly is not immediately hostile to other organisms it has encountered after incident 239-I, SCP-5045 is hostile to any foundation personnel, approach with caution. Note that it still does not become aggressive to other humans or animals unrelated to the foundation, it is however far more defensive then before incident 239-I. How it is able to make this differentiation is unknown.
Addendum 5045-A: Interview log shown below is between the creator of SCP-5045 and Dr. ██████.
Date: May █, 199█
Interviewee: Dr. Lendro
Interviewer: Dr. ██████
Notes: This interview is reviewing the unauthorized experimentation by ex-foundation member Dr. Lendro of SCP-████ in order to create a living weapon to use against the foundation:
Interview Log 56-K:
[Enters Dr. ██████, at which point Dr. Lendro begins to sweat profusely]Dr. Lendro: S-s-sir I told you, that isn't my lab. I didn't have anything to do…
Dr. ██████: Dr. Lendro with all due respect you were found in the lab working on a project that the O5 council decommisioned years ago.
Addendum 5045-B: Footage recovered from site-██ following a large scale containment breach. This event was 4 months into the successful containment of SCP-5045.
basic idea; instead of trimming the petals they tried to dig out the roots and cut them.
