Item #: SCP-5096
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5096 must be kept in the chemical storage wing of Site 19, and due to the nature of SCP-5096 it must be contained in a sealed level IV chemical storage unit in a standard non-humanoid containment cell with a magnetically sealing door connected to no less than two (2) backup generators to prevent accidental staff exposure to SCP-5096.
Description: SCP-5096 is a gaseous substance with a yellowed tint not unlike Sulfur Mustard, commonly known as mustard gas contained in a German 42 cm shell for the "Marinekanone 14 L/12". SCP-5096 came into foundation interest after the Great War battle of ████████████████, wherein the french contingent of the Entente forces was completely wiped out, consistent with Sulfur Mustard Gas exposure. However, when the trench was retaken by a British contingent with embedded Agent ███████ it was discovered that the deceased French soldiers had not died from Sulfur Mustard exposure as initially thought, due to the gas masks that the soldiers had worn being totally ineffective against the gas, while the expired German soldiers in the trench that had fought these frenchmen had not worn any sort of protective gear. After this discovery, Agent ███████'s unit was told by theological agent McCardy that it was a collective vision from God, explaining what would happen to their comrades if they stopped fighting.
After this possible anomalous sighting at the battle of ████████████████, MTF Beta-7 "Maz Hatters" was called in to raid the German Empire's Chemical Weapons factory in [REDACTED], during the raid a stray bullet cracked a canister suspected of housing SCP-5096, and all of MTF Beta-7's operators were killed within ten (10) seconds of SCP-5096 exposure, however Private Hans █████, who is the sole member of MTF Beta-7 with German Nationality, who was left unaffected by the gaseous SCP-5096. Private █████ continued his duty and brought the remaining gas inside the canister to the Foundation Mobile Chemical Transport Unit. Private █████ was checked by onsite medical personel, and was cleared with no lasting effects except shell-shock and a marked increase in the recital of German nationalist propaganda. Private █████ later self terminated, however this is assumed to be due to the loss of his team and the capitulation of the German Empire, rather than any direct effect of SCP-5096.
After the containment of SCP-5096, there has been no more cases of SCP-5096, leading researchers to believe that only two shells were created containing this anomalous version of Sulfur Mustard, one being used at the battle of ████████████████ and the other one currently possessed by the Foundation.
Addendum: Maintenance of the shell containing SCP-5096 must be done by D-Class of German nationality at least one (1) time per calendar year, as to prevent tarnish of the shell, and the possible staff exposure of SCP-5096. Dr. Dimitri Kozlov has been assigned to the containment of SCP-5096 due to his history with Chemical Weapons in the Soviet Union, all requests for testing with SCP-5096 must be approved by Dr. Kozlov or two (2) level 3 researchers.
