Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4413 is to be kept in a locked container, to be unlocked only at the request of O5-█.

Description: SCP-4413 is a spiral notebook with blue covers, xx cm tall and xx cm wide. It contains eighty wide-ruled sheets, all of these save one blank. At the top of page twenty-seven, handwritten in a black ink ballpoint pen, is the following phrase: "So, what's the deal with that SCP Foundation thing?"

Any subject who reads this directly from the notebook (or who reads the original handwriting through other means, either via photograph or video) will instantly believe that the SCP Foundation is a collaborative website wherein a group of authors around the world provide their fictitious entries to arbitrarily-numbered SCPs. In short, they believe that the Foundation, and all cataloged SCPs, are fictional and nothing to worry about.

After long-term observation of a group of subjects who was directly exposed to SCP-4413, it was found that the subject will be quickly struck with a ravenous curiosity for SCP material, and will conduct as much research on the Foundation as possible, desperately attempting to find out more about the world he or she believes is fictional. This was retroactively termed the Research Stage after the conclusion of the observations.

Following the Research Stage, the subject will enter the Conspiracy Stage after obtaining an amount of knowledge which is difficult to quantify. However, it is estimated that the subject will enter the Conspiracy Stage between three and five days after direct exposure to the text in SCP-4413. The Conspiracy Stage finds the subject suddenly believing that the Foundation is, in fact, real, that the previously-thought fictitious SCP entries are legitimate sources, and that the collaborative website is but a facade behind which the Foundation hides its reality.

The Conspiracy Stage is not, however, a regression to the subject's state prior to reading SCP-4413(assuming that the subject originally had any knowledge of the Foundation). During the Conspiracy Stage, the subject's curiosity increases in intensity until it reaches an obsession, which leads the subject to attempt to find proof of the Foundation's existence. If no proof is found by the subject, he or she will enter the third and final stage, the Insanity Stage.

During the Insanity Stage, the subject is reduced to babbling and reciting words from the SCPs which he or she has read. This stage culminates in a final desperate attempt to end the obsession: suicide. If suicide is prevented, the subject will continue the attempts until he or she is successful or until presumably he or she undergoes surgery to incapacitate the subject to a vegetative state.
