Item#: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedure: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in room RM-15 (Research and Maintenance Wing) at Site 52. It is to be placed on top of a lead cuboid in the middle of the room and all observation must be done through a one-sided glass window.
Personnel studying SCP-XXXX must always be wary of any structural damage to the chamber walls or observation windows.
In the interest of safety, C-Class personnel or above are not advised to enter the chamber. It is suggested to use a D-Class personnel to perform any experiments on SCP-XXXX.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a small black cuboid container roughly the size of a shoebox. The words "State of Normality" is written on one side of the box.
The main anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX can be found when opening the container. Upon opening the container, the chamber darkens and the inside of the chamber becomes unobservable as all light in the room is seemingly absorbed by SCP-XXXX. After a period of 5 minutes, the chamber returns to normal and all matter that wasn't there before the placement of the box is removed by SCP-XXXX.
Placing SCP-XXXX in an enclosed space causes the box to emit a low-frequency noise, before returning to its regular dormant state after a period of 3 minutes.
Most sentient beings are drawn to SCP-XXXX upon making direct eye contact and feel an intense desire to open the box, going so far as to use their own body parts in order to pick the lock of SCP-XXXX in the instance that it is remotely outfitted by a lock (using robotic help).
In the instance that SCP-XXXX is not opened within a period of 3 days, the box will open by itself (destroying any restraining tools), exhibiting similar (if not the same) behavior as if it was opened manually.
Interestingly, if a person manually places the box down and opens it, the person will not be
Addendum-XXXX-01: Acquisition:
SCP-XXXX was found by the foundation in an old secret abandoned military compound near Denver, Colorado. It was brought to light to the foundation after an investigation was launched upon the discovery that over 57 people have been reported as missing after visiting a nature trail close to the discovery site.
Our first contact with the SCP-XXXX resulted in the disappearance of an entire team of the recovery team due to the anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX. It was then brought to site 22 before being moved to site 52 after an incident resulting in the death of 8 researchers and 4 D-Class personnel.
