The console of SCP-4244-A
Item #: SCP-4244
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4244-A is to be contained in a temperature controlled room maintained between 20-22 degrees Celsius. Humidity is to be monitored and maintained at a level between 40% and 50%.
SCP-4244-B is to be contained within a temperature controlled case kept at room temperature and 35% relative humidity nearby SCP-4244-A.
Testing is to be done only with D-class personnel (save for the player of SCP-4244-A) wearing cameras for documentation.
Description: SCP-4244 is a collective designation to two related anomalies.
SCP-4244-A is a pipe organ measuring 8 meters across, 2 meters wide, and 4 meters high. The console of SCP-4244-A has four manuals of 61 keys each, totaling 244, with 32 pedal keys.
SCP-4244-B is a copy of The Lutheran Hymnal published by Concordia Publishing House in 1941 in St. Louis, MO, USA. There are multiple missing pages, seemingly ripped out. When compared with a clean copy of the Hymnal the pages missing appear to be all the pages containing the Liturgical Rites and several of the hymns.
The anomalous effects of SCP-4244-A will not manifest unless SCP-4244-B is open to the hymn being played.
SCP-4244-A and SCP-4244-B were recovered from ███████, MN, USA in 1993.
SCP-4244-A's anomalous effects manifest when a hymn is played from SCP-4244-B. SCP-4244-A will bring to life the imagery portrayed by the hymn from SCP-4244-B (upon further study, the hymns removed from SCP-4244-B contain very little or no imagery within them).
SCP-4244-A, as long as the hymn is being played on it, will change the room and environment around it based on the imagery of the hymn from SCP-4244-B, stanza by stanza. The imagery will cease to be reality upon playing the hymn's last stanza, or if the organist simply stops playing the hymn.
SCP-4244-A's ability to change the room around it appears to have no limits, as long as SCP-4244-A is within an enclosed room the anomalous effects will change the room to whatever imagery is displayed.
The Imagery that SCP-4244-A creates is capable of harming those within. Any injuries or fatalities caused by SCP-4244-A will be retained after the hymn has ceased.
SCP-4244-B was found with several notes written in the margins of the hymnal, written by the Hymnal's owner, M█████ A███████.
M█████ A███████ was missing at the time of recovery of SCP-4244
The inside cover of the Hymnal contains an illustration of [DATA REDACTED]
HYMN TEST LOG
Test 4244-B-648
Hymn: TLH 648 I Am Jesus' Little Lamb
1 I am Jesus' little lamb,
[D-class personnel are transformed into lambs]
Ever glad at heart I am;
For my Shepherd gently guides me,
[A Shepherd appears resembling the visage of Jesus Christ as portrayed by The Last Supper]
Knows my need, and well provides me,
Loves me ev'ry day the same,
Even calls me by my name.
[The Shepherd pets one of the lambs in an affectionate manner]
2 Day by day, at home, away,
Jesus is my Staff and Stay.
[The Shepherd guides the D-class lambs with his staff]
When I hunger, Jesus feeds me,
Into pleasant pastures leads me;
[The room forms into a sprawling, peaceful pasture. The Shepherd leads the lambs. D-class lambs begin eating the grass]
When I thirst, He bids me go
Where the quiet waters flow.
[The Shepherd leads the lambs to a quiet stream]
3 Who so happy as I am,
Even now the Shepherd's lamb?
[One of the D-class lambs makes an affectionate rub on the Shepherd's leg]
And when my short life is ended,
By His angel host attended,
He shall fold me to His breast,
There within His arms to rest.
[The Shepherd takes on of the D-class lambs in his arms]
[The Hymn ends and the D-class personnel are returned to normal]
Test 4244-B-262
Hymn: TLH 262 A Mighty Fortress Is Our God
1 A mighty Fortress is our God,
[The room reforms into a sprawling medieval style castle with impressive fortifications]
A trusty Shield and Weapon;
[All D-class personnel are armed with swords and shields]
He helps us free from ev'ry need
That hath us now o'ertaken.
The old bitter Foe
Now means deadly woe:
Deep guile and great might
Are his dread arms in fight;
On earth is not his equal.
[The fortress begins to quake and tremble, as though under attack from siege weaponry]
2 With might of ours can naught be done,
Soon were our loss effected;
[The fortress is breached; a humanoid in dark armor steps in]
But for us fights the Valiant One,
Whom God Himself elected.
[An armored knight appears with a golden glow and a halo. He charges the armored foe]
Ask ye, Who is this?—
Jesus Christ it is,
[DATA EXPUNGED]
Of Sabaoth, Lord,
And there's none other God,
He holds the field forever.
[The knight expels the foe from the fortress]
3 Tho' devils all the world should fill,
All eager to devour us,
[Upon viewing through one of the windows, the castle is surrounded by various demonic-appearing entities]
We tremble not, we fear no ill,
They cannot overpow'r us.
[No attempt made by the demons breaches the fortress]]
This world's prince may still
Scowl fierce as he will,
He can harm us none,
He's judged; the deed is done;
One little word can fell him.
[The Knight utters the phrase, [DATA REDACTED]; the enemy army is destroyed by fire raining from the skies]
4 The Word they still shall let remain,
Nor any thank have for it;,
He's by our side upon the plain
With His good gifts and Spirit.
[D-class personnel are armed and sent out to stand against the reformed enemy army]
And take they our life,
Goods, fame, child, and wife,
[Several D-class personnel are killed by the enemy army]
Let these all be gone,
They yet have nothing won:
The Kingdom ours remaineth.
[The Hymn ends; the room reverts to normal]
Test 4244-B-613
Hymn: TLH 613 Jerusalem the Golden
1 Jerusalem the golden,
with milk and honey blest,
beneath your contemplation
sink heart and voice oppressed;
I know not, O I know not
what joys await us there,
what radiancy of glory,
what bliss beyond compare!
[D-class personnel report seeing a bright light some couldn't quite see. All cameras worn by D-class personnel begin malfunctioning. Several D-class ended up blind after this test.]
2 They stand, those halls of Zion,
all jubilant with song,
and bright with many an angel,
and all the martyr throng;
the Prince is ever in them,
the daylight is serene;
the pastures of the blessed
are decked in glorious sheen.
[Several D-class personnel are incinerated by the intense light. According to the remaining personnel, only those who prostrated themselves on the ground, covering their eyes survived.]
3 There is the throne of David;
and there, from care released,
the shout of them that triumph,
the song of them that feast;
and they, who with their Leader
have conquered in the fight,
forever and forever
are clad in robes of white.
[D-class report near-deafening sounds of merriment and celebration.]
4 O sweet and blessed country,
the home of God's elect!
O sweet and blessed country
that eager hearts expect!
In mercy, Jesus, bring us
to that dear land of rest,
who are, with God the Father
and Spirit, ever blest.

Test 4244-B-413
Hymn: TLH 413 I Walk in Danger All the Way
1 I walk in danger all the way;
The tho't shall never leave me
[The room transforms into a dangerous medieval-style gauntlet]
That Satan, who has marked his prey,
Is plotting to deceive me.
[A mark resembling [DATA REDACTED] appears on the D-class personnel]
This Foe with hidden snares
May seize me unawares
[Several D-class personnel are caught up in hidden traps]
If e'er I fail to watch and pray.
// I walk in danger all the way.//
2 I pass thro' trials all the way,
With sin and ills contending;
[Several D-class personnel are afflicted with various diseases]
In patience I must bear each day
The cross of God's own sending.
[All D-class personnel have a heavy load of various materials tied to their backs]
Oft in adversity
I know not where to flee;
[The gauntlet rearranges itself into a maze]
When storms of woe my soul dismay,
[Thunder begins to echo through the gauntlet]
I pass thro' trials all the way.
3 Death doth pursue me all the way,
Nowhere I rest securely;
He comes by night, he comes by day,
And takes his prey most surely.
[A creature resembling The Grim Reaper begins pursuing the D-class personnel]
A failing breath, and I
In death's strong grasp may lie
To face eternity for aye.
Death doth pursue me all the way.
4 I walk with angels all the way;
They shield me and befriend me.
All Satan's pow'r is held at bay
When heav'nly hosts attend me;
They are my sure defense,
All fear and sorrow, hence!
Unharmed by foes, do what they may,
I walk with angels all the way.
[Several luminescent winged humanoids clad in armor begin surrounding the D-class personnel, protecting them from all dangers within the gauntlet]
5 I walk with Jesus all the way,
His guidance never fails me.
Within His wounds I find a stay
When Satan's power assails me;
And by His footsteps led,
My path I safely tread.
In spite of ills that threaten may,
I walk with Jesus all the way.
[DATA EXPUNGED]
6 My walk is heavenward all the way;
Await my soul, the morrow,
When thou shalt find release for aye
From all thy sin and sorrow.
[The gauntlet begins to shut down. A singular path forms to a bright hallway D-class personell follow as the Angelic beings guide them through.]
All worldly pomp, begone!
To heaven I now press on.
For all the world I would not stay;
My walk is heavenward all the way.
[Upon reaching the end of the hymn, the room reverts to normal. D-class personnel are missing, no trace is found.]
M.A. Margin Notes
I almost can't believe what I saw. I prayed to the Lord that he'd give me guidance on how to solve the problems of our shrinking congregations, but I didn't think he'd answer me so directly. I tried to illustrate what I saw, but it was just indescribable.
I've done as instructed and ripped out the hymns that don't work with the organ. It seems there's at least got to be something for it to latch onto to create.
I've gotten at least a few people to come and observe, but that's all I need. They'll see the miracle they claim are so necessary to believe.

Hymns of the justification theme seem to convert others quite well. Our little country church will not die off.
Hymns based on ministry seem to have the best success with motivating folk from apathy to action
It almost seemed to good to be true. A while ago, I thought I'd never save this church. To think that I'd be so blessed to receive such a gift.
Music has been my life. I agree with Luther. Next to the Word of God, music deserves the highest praise. And from what I've seen now, I'd say God agrees.
If only I could use another Hymnal, or other songs. What I would give to hear my own Hymn and see what imagery it would invoke! I'm a musician, and a composer, it's almost torture! I'd best be careful, though. I've already been given a blessing I don't deserve, and never even expected.
There's one thing I'd like to know. I'm near the end of my life. I want to see where I'm going soon. There's one hymn that will show me. I only hope I can truly comprehend it.
