Item #: SCP-4152
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4152 is to be kept in a 3m x 3m square room facing the entrance wall which is to be made out of glass for easy observation. The left facing wall from the glass wall entrance is to be made entirely out of a window for observation. The other two walls, ceiling and floor are to be made from concrete with no out of the ordinary containment procedures. SCP-4152’s screen must be facing the glass walled entrance at all times with its left side being visible side on through the glass wall
The Door to the chamber is to be locked at all times. Only the Personnel responsible for SCP-4152 are to be allowed keys to the chamber and entrance permissions. Dr. Bennett is no longer responsible for SCP-4152 after SCP-4152 incident-B.
Description: SCP-4152 resembles an ordinary modern day computer system that needs not be plugged into a power supply to run. The monitor screen is always switched on and despite various attempts to do so, no means of turning it off have been successful. The screen seems to be entirely indestructible.
The screen displays a modern looking popular computer game server known as a “battle royale” online Player vs Player game. There appears to be no option to log out of or close the game, leaving it locked on the screen.
SCP-4152 was discovered by Dr. Bennett on 12/██/2018 at Cirencester Deer Park School, England after numerous reports of pupils refusing to stop using the object and eventually throwing themselves back in fear. Numerous teachers who tried to stop the pupils from using the object were either attacked by the pupils or tried to use the SCP themselves. This resulted in one of the highest pupil expulsion rates and teacher replacements that England has ever seen. When Dr. Bennett came to investigate, he noticed that the usual effects of the object did not occur for him while he was looking at the object through glass or any other transparent substance. SCP-4152 was moved to site 17 by field agents with level 12 psychological training and the object did not affect them in any way. After tests conducted with D-Class personnel including SCP-4152 Incident-A, Dr. Bennett concluded that it is safe to view the object through glass or a one way mirror.
Once a person looks upon the screen of the object directly, they will start to feel an urge to play the game and will attempt to harm any individuals who try to stop them from doing so. Once said person starts to play the game, they will be somewhat unable to stop doing so for as long as they can remain conscious. For the first fifteen minutes or so, the person will be playing happily on the game’s server, even if that person is not usually comfortable or confident playing “battle royale” games or just video games in general.
However, after the first fifteen minutes have past, the person playing will start to see images of their loved ones on the bodies of the players they have just killed. The internal graphics of the game will also start to look much more realistic and the screen will even become three dimensional. After this stage, the voices of the non-player characters (NPC’s) and other players will start to resemble that of people in the user’s life whom he or she cares about. It is at this point that all D-Class personnel who have tested SCP-4152 will jump back from the screen in terror and will seem to lose their sense of humanity and moral ambiguity as well as believe they are the character they were just playing as and can do everything they could do in the game. These D-Class personnel are to be labelled as specimens of SCP-4152-A and are to be locked up in level 10 security cells.
All psychological tests that have been conducted on specimens of SCP-4152-A have revealed them to show definite signs of psychopathy.
SCP-4152 INCIDENT-A
SCP-4152 Incident-A is a logged report from a test with a D-Class personnel on SCP-4152.
DR. BENNETT STOOD BEHIND THE CLASS DOORS WITH AN ANONYMOUS RESEARCHER.
DR. CAROLINE STOOD BEHIND THE GLASS WALL TO THE LEFT IN THE OBSERVATION ROOM WITH COMS TO COMMUNICATE WITH BENNETT AND THE OTHER RESEARCHER.
D-CLASS PERSONNEL IN THE CHAMBER DOOR WAY WEARING SPECIAL LENS GLASSES.
DR. BENNETT: “Enter the Chamber”
D-Class personnel enters the chamber and closes the door behind.
DR. CAROLINE THROUGH COMS “So far no particular anomalous behaviour.”
DR. BENNETT: “No signs of anything”
RESEARCHER: “Maybe you were wrong about the effects?”
DR. BENNETT: “Impossible.”
DR. CAROLINE THROUGH COMS: “Have him remove the glasses”
DR. BENNETT: “Remove the glasses”
D-Class personnel removes the glasses and immediately starts to play on the game server.
Dr. Caroline takes notes.
Fifteen minutes pass.
D-Class personnel leaps back from the chair and screams in fear.
Dr. Bennett and the Researcher put on their glasses and remove the D-Class from the Chamber.
DR. BENNETT: “It’s the same effect every time.”
DR. CAROLINE THROUGH COMS: “I’ll take these notes to Dr. [REDACTED]
Dr. Caroline leaves.
Security assists the researcher in removing the D-Class from the area while Dr. Bennett follows Dr. Caroline.
SCP-4152 INCIDENT-B:
During SCP-4152 Incident-B, Dr. Bennett was studying SCP-4152 shortly after SCP-4152 Incident-A. Bennett was wearing glasses with special lenses in order to prevent the usual effect of SCP-4152 from Happening, however, once he got up to leave the chamber, he took them off while facing away from the screen only to realise he left his clipboard at the desk and made the mistake of turning around without putting the glasses back on. Having some levels of psychological training he was able to fight the usual urge long enough to attempt smashing the monitor to bits with his bare hands, but the screen didn’t even fall over, let alone receive a single dent. Security was able to successfully remove Bennett from the chamber without looking upon the screen directly themselves. Dr. Bennett soon then transferred responsibility of SCP-4152 to Dr. Caroline.
