Special Containment Procedures:
Areas within contamination range should immediately set up weather stations and sirens to go off when a storm is approaching. SCP-2025 can not be contained easily as it will burn through any protective gear like acid. The areas must be evacuated if possible and no one is to come into physical contact with someone infected.
Any and all water sources in the area are to be cut off to stop the spread of SCP-2025 into neighboring areas and those who have entered the DRED state are to be left alone and untouched as they will spread the infection to those in contact.
Description:
SCP-2025 is debated to be either a natural phenomena that can occur when certain extra terrestrial objects enter the earth causing infection in the area otherwise debated to be a chemical attached to the object entering the orbit of earth. The chemical in shape/form is described as a dry and dark dust/powder. This dust, when in contact with H20 will multiply and spread. It is said that any living organism coming in contact with the contaminated water will enter a continuous state of decay and regeneration. In the case of SCP-2025 the decay process is faster than the process of regeneration.
The decay and regeneration process is called the DRED state; Death Regeneration and Eternal Decay.
Within 36 hours the infected will become aware of itchiness on the skin, after 48 hours the infected will go into a sleep state (coma) from which they will never wake up. after 60 hours the skin of the infected will dry up and the infected will shrivel up into a desiccated state. At the 72 hour mark the infected skin will begin to peel off from their body. At 90 hours after infection those infected muscles will slowly start to crumble and turn into dust. The process of total decay will only be finished after approximately 9 years.
As the infected start to decay their body will make an attempt to regenerate and heal their wounds extending the process and prolonging the pain of the sleeping corpses.
Most living creatures react differently towards the effects of SCP-2025. Primates, such as gorillas and chimps do not enter the dream state (coma) and instead become more aggressive due to the pain inflicted by the infection. Birds, when in contact with H20 contaminated with SCP-2025 will melt down into a thick dark fluid of which only some feathers and bones stick out. Approximately 8 hours after the birds have melted they some how regenerate entirely, scientists can not yet explain why birds are affected this way and why they are healed completely without any traces of infection afterwards.
Animals such as felines have been documented to deform and mutate into "zombie" like figures. Still quadruped but with flesh torn off and black liquid oozing from their wounds. Felines act more hostile towards any/all living forms and are also in an agitated state at ll time like the primates. Any/ all recorded aquatic life within the contaminated areas have vanished without any explanation and trace.
Storms are especially dangerous in the areas where SCP-2025 has an effect, as the rain in the area may contain traces of SCP-2025 and instantly infect those who come into contact. Weather patterns are also somehow changed due to the nature of SCP-2025. More storms occur and more prominently during night hours.
Addendum 2025.1:Discovery
SCP-2025 was first discovered by the foundation in, 1957, middle Africa. After many villages stopped trade with neighboring regions and people started to disappear within the area. Stories spread of a rock falling from the heavens, some locals believed it to be the gods that were angry and other thought the people of that area had found riches within the fallen rock and thus stopped trade with neighboring regions, but where too afraid to investigate themselves.1
