Item #: SCP-4356
Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: A sample of SCP-4356 is to be contained in a waterproof enclosure at all times when not in use. Prior to experimentation, the atmosphere must contain less than 7.31 g/m3 of water. During experimentation, all staff present must ensure that if SCP-4356 is to dissolve into SCP-4356-1, all of SCP-4356-1 is to be completely immersed in de-ionized water. Due to the highly weaponizable nature of SCP-4356, the knowledge of synthesis of SCP-4356 is restricted to individuals with Level-4 clearance or higher. Any public discovery of the synthesis of SCP-4356 is to be contained from widespread adoption.

SCP-4356 in its solid state

Description: SCP-4356 is a acidic organometallic compound containing approximately fourteen hydroxyl groups, two amino groups, one sulfonic acid group, possibly one nitro group, and up to four Caesium-137 atoms. The exact structure of SCP-4356 is currently unknown and appears to vary between variations of the prior mentioned groups depending on what time the molecule is examined.

The substance can be dissolved without the introduction of water if a researcher begins to add SCP-4356 into an aqueous solution but immediately stops when SCP-4356 begins to turn into SCP-4356-1 and prevents any hydration (See Addendum 4356.2). Under these circumstances, however, SCP-4356-1 is to eventually be hydrated within █ days to prevent another incident. Additionally, the aqueous solution used to convince SCP-4358 to convert to SCP-4356-1 will teleport to its location 1.12 seconds prior to the complete transformation of SCP-4356 regardless of current location, temperature, or contents.

Addendum 4356.1: Discovery
A precursor to SCP-4356 was discovered by Dr. Asimov in 1947 during research of Rosacea karlsbadensis rugo, a shrub native to █████. At the time, Dr. Asimov was experimenting with the organic chemistry of the aforementioned shrub when the addition of Caesium-137 to a natural chemical of the shrub created the first known instance of SCP-4356.

For further information regarding Dr. Asimov's discovery of the precursor of SCP-4356, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thiotimoline

Addendum 4356.2: SCP-4356-1
When exposed with the intent to dissolve SCP-4356 in an aqueous solution, SCP-4356 converts to its dissolved form, SCP-4356-1, exactly 1.12 seconds before theoretical addition into the solution. SCP-4356-1 will then cause water-related weather disasters in an attempt hydrate itself with gradual increasing intensity until SCP-4356 is hydrated.

Addendum 4356.3: 08/02/2005 Incident
During scheduled research of SCP-4356, Dr. ██████ discovered that SCP-4356 can be convinced to dissolve without the actual addition of an aqueous solution. The results of this were unknown at the time and the instance of SCP-4356-1 was stored in a waterproof container, amounting to 0.2 liters of SCP-4356-1.

While the sample was stored in Site-█, Hurricane ███████ struck the facility approximately ██ days after Dr.██████ had created SCP-4356-1. The hurricane's intensity was quickly followed by unprecedented flooding and sudden creation of a tsunami approaching Site-█. After 13 days of water-related severe weather, all weather finally subsided. Foundation personnel searched Site █ afterwards, finding water seals to have failed and all staff and D-Class personnel to have drown and the containment of the SCP-4356-1 to have been breached. All SCP's present at Site-█ who were incapable of survival in an aquatic environment were found dead.

Addendum 4356.4: 09/04/2016 Incident
The synthesis of SCP-4356 was completed at Site-█. After successful dissolving in the absence of moisture, the sample of 0.5 liters of SCP-4356-1 was contained in a waterproof container and placed in a secure location underneath Site-█. No immediate results occurred.

Following similar weather patterns to the 2005 incident, the facility was found again heavily flooded, with all staff and D-Class personnel found dead via drowning. Any evidence that SCP-4356-1 caused the weather was not considered at this time.

Addendum 4356.5: 12/19/2017 Incident
In order to research SCP-4356 in a more suitable environment, the synthesis of SCP-4356 and subsequently SCP-4356-1 was permitted in an arctic facility, Site-██. The volume of SCP-4356-1 totaled 1 liter and was eventually stored in a waterproof container after the conclusion of research.

Shortly after storing SCP-4356-1, Foundation personnel detected a hurricane apparently greater than a category 5 on the Saffir-Simpson scale forming off of the coast of Site-██ as well as an unexpected rainstorm forming seemingly directly above Site-██. Suspicious that SCP-4356-1 may have caused the appearance of such weather, it was immediately hydrated and subsequently dried, returning to SCP-4356. The weather then dissipated over approximately 3.2 hours. Public weather stations monitoring the storm were suppressed and all civilians who have witnessed the storms were administered Class-A amnestics following the cleanup of 35 dead civilians.
