Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to locked in a standard Foundation locked safe, and placed in a 3x3x3 meter containment chamber. No access to SCP-XXXX is to be permitted without expressed permission of Dr. Nicholas Rose and Dr. Jack Young. Personnel must have no lower than Level 3 authorization before request. Testing of SCP-XXXX must be requested from O5-█
No testing of SCP-XXXX is to be permitted under any circumstances. The risk to search for a relation to SCP-217 is too high. -O5-█
Description: SCP-XXXX is a mechanical pencil of standard make, with a semi-transparent body. SCP-XXXX is bright blue in colour, and made of plastic, with only the lead, eraser and pen-guard being made out of the appropriate materials. SCP-XXXX's lead is made of graphite and an unknown material, found to be similar to gold. SCP-XXXX's lead is indestructible by all known means, and does not degrade with use. Spare leads found with SCP-XXXX, with a total of 2██, have the same properties.
SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects take shape when the lead interacts with any substance that can easily written upon via pen, pencil or marker. After contact, the substance or object, henceforth referred to as SCP-XXXX-2, will begin to become mechanical. When contact is made, SCP-XXXX's lead will begin to auto-write, drawing a series of gears, sprockets and bolts, in similar deposition to a clock, in exemplary detail. Once auto-writing has been completed, the SCP-XXXX-2's drawings will begin to protrude and materialize, changing size and width and styling while doing so.
Once the mechanical art has taken form, it will begin to work like a clock, spinning and producing steam from an unknown location. SCP-XXXX-2 will begin to transform, folding on itself and adjusting it's size to make an empty gap, revealed to be the same or similar size to the previously unchanged object. This process may take between 3 hours to 6 months, depending on material and size.
Once SCP-XXXX-2 has finished transforming, the original material will appear in the gap, having been almost printed out from the bottom of SCP-XXXX-2. When examined, no feature to allow this has been noticed. Once material is created, it can be used in the same fashion as before contact. However, SCP-XXXX is the only way to mark the material, and does so in the appropriate way; Marker for a whiteboard, pencil for paper etc etc
Once SCP-XXXX-2 is used up, no other effect occurs, and is safe to handle with direct skin contact.
Addendum SCP-XXXX.1: SCP-XXXX may have an effect on biological sources, such as flesh or plant matter. Testing is currently underway to search for a connection.
Addendum SCP-XXXX.2: With the unfortunate incident relating to SCP-217, it is believed that SCP-XXXX could be related to SCP-217. Testing is advised to search for a connection.
I don't want to have a possible contagion as a result of SCP-XXXX. There are enough SCP related staff issues, Dr Bright mainly, as it is. -Dr Nicholas Rose
