Item #: SCP-5017 ; The Shapeshifter

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-5017 must be contained in a room measuring 5x5 meters and 2,5 meters tall. The walls must be covered in acid-proof metal plates, as research has shown that the entity is able to use acid as a (possibly lethal) weapon.

Description:
SCP-5017 appears to be a droplet of black goo, roughly measuring 15x10x10 cm although the size differs depending on the state of SCP-5017.
SCP-5017 was originally found in the UFO-crash in [DATA EXPUNGED], ██/██/████. Scientists believe that the object is of Extraterrestrial origin, but it is, for now, impossible to confirm, as it is also possible that the Object was created by a chemical reaction. See Addendum #1.

SCP-5017 has multiple states.

  1. "Resting State"; In this state, SCP-5017 appears to be the aforementioned droplet. The object is neutral in this state, but avoidance is recommended after the "Absorbtion" of ██/██/████. See Addendum #2
  2. "Absorbing State"; In this state, the Object is able to absorb and dissolve nearly everything. It does this by making use of acid, which is plausibly made by the lower abdominal glands. This is the reason that the Containment Zone needs to be covered in Acid Proof-plates. See Addendum #3 for further information.
  3. "Transforming State"; In this state, SCP-5017 is able to transform ("Shapeshift") in any creature that is in direct eyesight of the Object. This does not mean that it will, as the Creature itself decides when it needs/wants to transform.

ADDENDUM #1:

ADDENDUM #2: After the "Absorbtion" of ██/██/████, Foundation Personel has made Containment Access only available with Access Level 4 or above.

ADDENDUM #3: The acid appears to be a combination of Hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, calcium carbonate, sodium chloride and water. Foundation Scientists have tried recreating this acid, but all attempts so far have failed. The Scientists theorize this has to do with an unknown element that exists inside SCP-5017.

ADDENDUM #4:The tests that were taken on ██/██/████ by Dr. [REDACTED] have shown the result that SCP-5017 is in fact able to remember previous "Shapeshifts" and retransform in any previous form.
