Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5724 is not to be within a radius that is reachable between the base and top of the stem with an additional metre to avoid the top, for instance if the length of the stem is 5 metres then no personnel is authorized within a 6 metre radius without authorisation from the current monitoring team researching SCP-5724. The SCP must be contained in a glass cell filled with a liquid (the recommended liquid is chlorinated water however the SCP does not react with other liquids including water-based SCP's). The SCP must be provided with a live subject to 'consume' (proper classification currently pending) every 14 years to maintain a specific family line as certain families of SCP-5724 can provide certain properties when under experimentation, it is recommended that the subject for SCP-5724 groups not going under testing is the sperm whale so that the brain will be at its most visible.
Description: SCP-5724 is hybrid of the Fungi, Plantae and Animalia kingdoms. the appearance of the SCP is that of a kelp plant with a series of leaves in a flower-like pattern presenting the brain of a previously 'consumed' creature (Typically a species of fish or occasional human). When SCP-5724 wast brought up to surface level it quickly dried up and was classified as deceased. An underwater surgery was performed to analyse SCP-5724 where it was discovered that despite it's plant shell the inside was composed of similar flesh to the cordyceps fungi. When SCP-5724 is within reach of a living host it will attempt to wrap itself around the hosts body and will try its best to force itself inside the host via any orifices it can locate , from there the host is terminated and the body excretes the previous brain and the host's brain becomes a replacement, nutrients are removed from the body and SCP-5274 will attempt to exit the body.
