Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5465 is to be kept in a locked item box in Site-73. SCP-5465, as well as SCP-5465-1, are accessible to all personnel. The anomaly is to be replaced in its containment box after each interrogation/experiment and conversations between SCP-5465-1 and researchers are be documented. During breaches SPC-5465 is to be transported back to its locker to avoid breaching containment itself. Increased containment measures of SCP-5465 have been deemed necessary. To access the interview and test logs, as well as the handling procedures, personnel must enter a password. SCP-5465 is to kept in its 5m x 5m x 5m fabric coated containment room at Site-██ while not under interrogation, examination, or experimentation. SCP-5465 is only to be accessed to authorized researchers. In the event of a containment breach SCP-5465 must be returned to its containment room. Interrogations between select personnel and SCP-5465-1 are to be documented. Interactions between SCP-5465-1 and designated research transporters are to be recorded as well.

HANDLING PROCEDURES: FOLLOW EXACTLY. DO NOT ALTER.

Retrieval and Description: SCP-5465 is an 1888 vintage Peacock Pettibone Magic Lantern Projector with slight rust, chipped paint, a broken photograph, and color disfiguration. The anomaly was kept in an antique exhibit at the Museum of █████ in █████ Ohio, USA. No unusual behavior of the projector had been recorded before, but the unanswered death of the museums night janitor had caught the ear of a foundation employee. It was decided to bring the projector into the Foundation to check for anomalous activity. A field task force agent was sent to retrieve the anomaly on 7/12/20██. Upon reaching Site-73 the projector's photo wheel began to rotate on it's own. The agent who had retrieved the anomaly reported being greeted by the projector during transportation.

During the first examination of SCP-5465 the object activated itself and showed signs of sentience (see examination Log-1). The projector displayed a black and white image of a 16th century Renaissance noble. The figure is clad with a jerkin, a white shirt underneath, dark colored breeches, white stockings, and polished black shoes. The figure possesses dark hair and a clean shaven face. The projection speaks in many tribal tongues indigenous to Sub-Saharan Africa and the Americas although some of the specific tongues are hard to pinpoint. SCP-5465-1 also has shown signs of fluent Spanish, Arabic, Germanic languages (West and North), French, Mandarin, Japanese, and Russian. Some of SCP-5465-1's speech is outdated, suggesting it hasn't traveled the world in the past few centuries. The projection has luminous white eyes void of pupils. It is docile unless provoked (See examination Log-4).

During an exchange between Dr. Grigori and SCP-5465-1 the anomaly referred to itself as "limbo". SCP-5465-1 possesses the capability of creating bringing forward souls of the deceased (see examination Log-3). There are strict rules (refer to Log-1-Foootnote) that SCP-5465-1 refuses to break while bringing forward the dead. SCP-5465-1 will become unpredictable if more than one host is speaking/listening to it at a given time, and the projection might refuse to communicate. Therefore, all experiments regarding SCP-5465-1 should be conducted alone unless authorization is given to do a multi-person test.
