Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard secure locker, and removed for Mobile Task Force operations, Field Agent use, and testing on Class-D personnel.
Use of SCP-XXXX must be approved by 2 or more Level-3 personnel or above.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a pair of silver ring-shaped earrings with no engravings or marks. Once worn, the earrings solidify, and the wearer will be designated as SCP-XXXX-A. Forcibly removing SCP-XXXX(i.e. tearing the earrings off or surgical operations) off of SCP-XXXX-A will stop all anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX on SCP-XXXX-A. After removing SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX will revert back to its original form and will be able to be worn by its next user.
While wearing the earring, users gain the ability to perceive all thoughts of organisms within a 50 meter radius. Organisms with higher brain functions will be perceived as “louder”, while organisms with lower or no brain functions are perceived as “silent”(i.e.- a human’s thoughts can be perceived clearly while a bird might be simple “whispers”).
Addendum-XXXX-1: SCP-XXXX was discovered when an 18 year old high school student Claire Vermeer started becoming unstable and gained the ability to read the thoughts of all of the people in her school and life. The anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX led Claire to isolate and hide herself from others. When interviewed by Foundation personnel (at Site 64), subject reportedly obtained SCP-XXXX from an auction, and was able to describe the properties of SCP-XXXX, as well as her inability to remove SCP-XXXX without tearing/damaging her earlobes.
Addendum-XXXX-2: Claire was trained as a field agent by order of Director Holman. Claire was to investigate reported cases of anomalous activity with assistance of the earrings. Claire was reportedly successful in determining and finding anomalous activities, until Claire overheard the thoughts of dying people in an construction accident(gas leak explosion). Claire was very disturbed by the event, and requested surgical removal of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX was then surgically removed from Claire's ears upon Claire's request, after which the SCP-XXXX returned to a wearable state. Claire continues to work as a field agent for the Foundation.
