Item #: SCP-4033

Object Class: Safe Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4033 is to be kept in a small closet reinforced by lead plating, the closet is to be routinely cleaned and checked for any cracks or structural weaknesses. Personnel are not to be inside the containment unit for any longer than 5 minutes at a time, a timer within the closet automatically closes the door should this time be exceeded. 2 infrared cameras are to be placed within the closet to ensure the object’s presence inside the room at all times. Due to the nature of the entity, a second cell containing at least one class-D subject is to be kept fairly unkempt so that in the event of an aggravation incident, easy recontainment of the entity can be carried out by site personnel.

Description: SCP-4033 is a large cape with an unknown design in the fabric. Through an anomalous force, the cape is able to reorient itself in a standard position ideal for a human to wear the cape. For unknown reasons, the inside of the cape is not perceptible to the human eye, and extended attempts to view the inside of the cape result in slight distress and paranoia of the subject. Attempts to photograph the inside of the cape show a shroud of darkness inside the cape that is not visible when attempting to view the cape in person.

More importantly, should the containment unit of the entity ever reach a certain level of disorder or dust buildup, it will enter an “aggravated” state, and will seek out any living thing in the room, engulfing the entire space with darkness, the entity is always the only being to emerge from this darkness, and any personnel inside the same room upon an aggravation event are found spontaneously dead, with no signs of trauma, internal bleeding, or even brain death. Should the entity enter this state without any living beings to engulf, it will shroud the closest room with living beings in it and emerge from the shroud within the room it moved to. Object was reclassified from safe after Incident 4033-1-A.

The object was found after an incident in which 16 people living near Milan, Italy were found dead with no apparent cause of death. The cape was found inside the room levitating in it’s standard position. How the object is related to these deaths is still unknown, as few events since capture have revealed it’s true nature.

Upon being brought to site-31, SCP-3237 showed signs of distress, thermal images revealing an apparent ‘headache’ within the entity. Little relation has been found between the two entities, but further investigation into SCP-3237’s distress is underway.

Aggravation incident 4033-1-A

F-Dr.Rogers: I’ve said this multiple times, I didn’t see anything within the room, the cameras were just blank, even with the infrared.

Dr.Bright: I understand, are you sure you didn’t hear anything either?

F-Dr.Rogers: I’m positive, if I would’ve seen something I would’ve already told you.

Dr.Bright: Who was inside SCP-4033’s containment at the moment of the event?

F-Dr.Rogers: I believe it was D-9431, nothing special about him.

Dr.Bright: What do you think the cause of the aggravation event was?

F-Dr.Rogers: Beats me, the thing had been in containment since 12/09/2001, it’s too early in it’s containment to know for sure what the damn thing is hiding.

Dr.Bright: Were there any notable differences in the structure or condition of it’s containment?

F-Dr.Rogers: Not really, the room was spotless compared to it’s condition prior to the event, but the structural integrity and cameras were untouched.

Dr.Bright: Your report of the incident stated that the D-class’ corpse was pale, do you have any speculation as to the true nature of the subject’s death?

F-Dr.Rogers: Look, I’m just as clueless as you, I was there that day to oversee D-9431 cleaning the room, at first I thought maybe it was just a freak accident, but once I reviewed the footage prior to and after the incident, I don’t think there’s a way we’ll be able to find out how this thing kills people.

Dr.Bright: Thank you, that is all.

F-Dr.Rogers exits examination room 03

Dr.Bright: After hearing the input of F-Dr.Rogers, I recommend re-evaluation of SCP-4033’s containment procedures and reclassification as Euclid.
