SCP-4904 (DR PETERSON)

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4904 is to be kept under constant video and human surveillance. Security viewing stations located at least a 100-meter radius from SCP-4904 for personnel safety. These stations will rotate personnel every 5 hours to prevent mental destabilization. Stations are to be fully manned at all times with a border consisting of an armed guard every 15 meters. Any research personnel wishing to enter this border or SCP-4904 must be given permission and forms related to this permission by a minimum of two administrators with level 04 clearance or one administrator with level 05 clearance. The research personnel must then be accompanied by 2 armed security guards. All personnel entering must wear lead coated class A hazmat precautions and be equipped with wired communications equipment to check in with security station B every 5 minutes of exposure. Maximum time allowed inside is 20 minutes. Any civilians attempting to enter the border will be contained or, if resistance continues, terminated on location. Unauthorized personnel will be given amnesiac and facility access will be terminated after a private hearing. ALL PERSONNEL ON THE BORDER OR CLOSER TO SCP-4904 MUST BE EQUIPPED WITH ONE (1) SELF DOSE OF CLASS 3 AMNESIAC AND A WIRELESS BRAINWAVE MONITOR.
Description: SCP-4904 appears to be a typical abandoned house in a forest just north of █████, New Jersey. Occasionally at night a faint glow, nuclear in appearance, can be seen from all windows. Strange effects occur just outside of the 100-meter radius border. One researcher, Dr. █████, reported hearing extremely faint whispers coming from SCP-4904’s direction. Dr. █████ reported ignoring the whisper, until he eventually got annoyed with it and attempted to drown it out with music. All attempts to mute the whispering failed. At first the whispering was gibberish, but around 4 minutes later they became somewhat coherent, reportedly saying, “Come, this place will be the end of the pain.” According to multiple reports, all the comments made in the whispers seemed to cater to something in the past or something currently happening. For instance, Dr. █████ as mentioned earlier, had recently lost his wife and daughter in a fire, which appears to be the same fire that SCP-069 was discovered in. Regarding the inside of SCP-4904, upon entering, all radio wave communications are silenced, hence the requirement for wired equipment. The subject uses a foreign type of microwave composed of photons and electrons to telepathically induce the schizophrenic whispering. The whispers are different for each person, indicating sentience and some method of reading the brainwaves from every person. Lead coated class A hazmat suits are required inside SCP-4904 due to the atomic structure and toxicity of the gas present within the building. The gas, under analysis, appears to be made of plutonium oxide, Sulfuric acid, and chlorine, all of which are saturated with a foreign number of neutrons. Upon contact with organic material, the gas begins to glow and emit waves of gamma and beta radiation. Despite the presence of highly concentrated sulfuric acid, it displays no properties of this substance. The lead in the hazmat suit absorbs much of any radiation, but the rest is converted to heat. The radiation causes highly abnormal side effects in some cases (see incident-4904-01 or experiment-4904-03). According to scientists that have entered SCP-4904, the interior consists of a wide plain, with no defined walls. The atmosphere is vivid white and despite the total lack of light (except for the glow around organic materials). This appears to only appear when the door has been closed behind the exploration crew. The wire to the communications equipment seems to disappear where the door is, despite the door visually disappearing upon closure. At seemingly random intervals, a door will open and then close exactly 5 minutes after it opens.
History: SCP-4904 was discovered when a civilian in the area had been reportedly missing for two weeks when he suddenly appeared again at the doorstep of his neighbor’s house in a state of advanced hysteria and distress. The last words he said before dying of [REDACTED] were, “The house! I… Everything…. It’s getting darker… God help you all.” SCP was called in by the police when the neighbor in question called to report the incident. MTF units swept the surrounding area when some of the teams heard the whispers. Further investigations revealed the subject in question. Many people know about the house in the region from urban legend. When questioned, none of them could ever identify when the house had been constructed, nor where it is.
Experiment-4904-01:
Subject D-5400 was sent into SCP-4904 at 17:00 hours with a piece of ham for observation on organic materials. D-5400 died five minutes after entry due to massive radiation dose of [REDACTED]. One radio transmission was received, it only said: “Jesus Christ its hot in here. The whole air is glowing and my whole body feels like it does when your leg falls asleep.” Small particles such as leaves seem to have very little to no effect, causing emission of <5 RAD.
Experiment-4904-02:
Subject D-6781 entered SCP-4904 at 08:00 hours. Subject was wearing a class-A lead lined hazmat suit and a tracker. Subject entered a door before it closed, to which all radio signal ceased. Tracker was activated at 08:03 and the subject was located in an abandoned wood lined bunker south of [DATA EXPUNGED] near Nashville, Tennessee. Mobile Task Force Unit Mask-12 arrived and re-contained D-6781, who put up no resistance. At the site, there were also the remains of approximately 50 hunters, several common people from the 1600’s to present, and even a few civil war soldiers. The sight was excavated, and the artifacts examined by SCP Foundation personnel before being handed to a nearby museum. The site has been blocked off to prevent accidental discovery of the area.
Experiment-4904-03:
Subject D-4892 entered SCP-4904 at 09:00 hours without any standard safety equipment. Radio transmission received broken screams at 09:01 which persisted for several minutes until the subject was pulled from SCP-4904. During this time all Foundation personnel in the area experienced harsh, screaming whispers in their minds and a burning sensation all over their bodies. Capt. █████████, visiting the sight to oversee containment operations (shortly before his retirement) collapsed into a PTSD attack from the screaming he encountered with SCP-096, as the vocalizations were similar in nature. D-4982, upon removal of SCP-4904, appeared to be half melted with minimal skeletal features left. D-4982 was missing both his legs and much of his torso, with his head seeming to have been reduced to only skull and melted, yellow flesh. Despite this, the subject remained animate, pulling himself towards the guards with inhuman strength. After an attempt to kill an on-site guard, Mobile Task Force Unit Delta-01 was called in and the subject was shot repeatedly until movement ceased (notably more effort was taken to kill the subject than it should have taken to subdue a human). D-4982’s last words were, “[incomprehensible] you fucking bastards [subject paused for a few seconds, presumably to take in a breath] why?” The remaining corpse was transferred to the nearest facility and incinerated.
Addenum-01:
All tests were canceled after this, as they were deemed too risky and too inhumane even for the foundation to continue.
Addenum-02:
SCP-4904 has been moved to Euclid from its previous Keter standing as it is not an immediate threat, and for now the containment of the main object is fairly reliable. The only reason that this subject has not been moved to safe is due to our current lack of understanding on how it works, its active cognitohazard, and that we do not currently know the extent of its abilities or if it can bring things back to it as well as send them out.
Incident-4904-01:
Unknown civilian attempted to cross 100-meter radius. Guard asked subject to stop and take a different rout. The civilian ignored the order and proceeded to pass the barrier. The guard terminated the subject promptly. *Future tip to MTF, don’t try to do things non-lethally, just get it done. Mercy on that level is going to result in a containment breach. If you want to be that way, go be a mall cop or something.*
Incident-4904-02:
Dr. ███████ abandoned his station at 12:18, heading towards SCP-4904. MTF intercepted him, but he threatened to have their whole unit fired if they didn’t stand down. MTF obeyed the orders and retreated to their posts. Ten minutes past before the Scientist was spotted again, right next to the building. MTF approached the scientist who appeared to be holding a handful of dirt. Upon arrival, MTF immediately arrested Dr. ███████. According to one member of the MTF squad, Dr. ███████ had somehow obtained a block of C4 and was attempting to detonate SCP-4904, despite its seemingly indestructible nature. The bomb was diffused and Dr. ███████ was administered a class 3 amnesiac. No further incidents have been reported.
