Dr Preserves (The Irksome Door)
rating: 0+x

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is entirely harmless and can be safely stored in any facility but must be kept fairly dry to prevent wood rotting. Ensure it is properly labelled so it is not used in place of a normal door.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an ash wood door with dimensions of 1m x 2m x 35mm, similar to doors found in office buildings, with glass panels in the top and bottom. There is a curved metal handle on each side of the door with blank signs which on a normal door would be labelled "push" and "pull".

When a subject attempts to open SCP-XXXX their first attempt will always fail, regardless of whether they push or pull, but if they try to open it the other way SCP-XXXX will open like any ordinary door. Subjects will always fail to open the door incorrectly no matter how much force they use, to the point where the handle can break or the subject can injure themselves.

SCP-XXXX was was originally a door from Site-██ and, although it is not known how its anomalous properties came about, it is suspected that it was due to long term exposure to other anomalous objects that brought about the properties it now displays. The Foundation is currently investigating if any other ordinary objects in or around containment facilities are developing anomalous properties.

Addendum: Dr. Masino Test Log
Test 1 - ██/04/2018

Subject(s): D-72894
Procedure: D-72894 attempts to open SCP-XXXX in the normal fasion.
Results: D-72894 was unable to open SCP-XXXX on the first try but succeeded after opening differently.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX can only be opened after a failed attempt.

Test 2 - ██/04/2018

Subject(s): D-56271 and D-42199
Procedure: D-56271 pushed on one side of SCP-XXXX and then D-42199 pushed from the other.
Results: SCP-XXXX was not opened.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX is not opened simply by being forced in one direction and then the other.

Test 3 - ██/05/2018

Subject(s): One (1) remote operated claw arm
Procedure: The arm attempted to open SCP-XXXX.
Results: SCP-XXXX was not opened on when the claw pushed the door but was able to when it pulled. A repeat showed the effect worked the other way round.
Analysis: Machines are subject to the same parameters as humans.

Note: SCP-XXXX was mistaken for a normal door and was temporarily installed in Site-██ for five months before being located and relabelled.

Note: If I find the idiot that installed the wrong door in my office I'll feed them to 682! - 05-██

Test 4 - ██/11/2018

Subject(s): One (1) shopping trolley
Procedure: The shopping trolley was propelled towards SCP-XXXX at a momentum estimated to be sufficient to open it.
Results: The trolley pushed the door open and passed through.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX only prevents humans and machines directly operated by humans from opening it normally.

Test 5 - ██/01/2019

Subject(s): D-62831 acting as host to SCP-3483
Procedure: SCP-3483 used D-62831 to try and open SCP-XXXX.
Results: SCP-3483 was unable SCP-XXXX the door at first but when switching direction of force was able to.
Analysis: AIs (or at least SCP-3483) are effected by SCP-XXXX in the same way humans are.

Note: All testing on SCP-XXXX will be postponed until someone can think up a method of opening it which hasn't already been tried.

Note: Submissions from all Foundation personnel accepted. - Dr. Masino

Test 6 - ██/01/2019

Subject(s): D-78229, one (1) sheet of paper
Procedure: SCP-XXXX was opened, and then allowed to close with the sheet of paper slipped between the door and the frame. D-78229 then tried to open SCP-XXXX.
Results: SCP-XXXX could be opened in the usual manner.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX must be completely closed with no items blocking in it for the anomalous properties to have any effect.

Note: I thought that might happen, maybe I could try a smaller object. - Dr. Masino

Test 7 - ██/02/2019

Subject(s): D-88291, fifty (50) sheets ranging from 0.5mm to 0.01mm

Note: Tests 7.1 - 7.34 skipped due to non-anomalous results.

Test 7.35

Procedure: 0.15mm sheet was placed between the door and the frame and then D-88291 attempted to open SCP-XXXX.
Results: SCP-XXXX could not be opened until force was used in the opposite direction.

Note: Tests 7.36 - 7.50 skipped due to expected results.

Analysis: Any object with a width of 0.16mm or more will prevent SCP-XXXX from displaying any anomalous properties when blocking SCP-XXXX from closing.

Note: Ask someone else to test SCP-XXXX next time anyone comes up with an idea for it. I have just spent eleven hours slipping pieces of paper through a door frame and I refuse to spend any longer experimenting with this infernal thing! - Dr. Masino
