Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4276 is to be contained within a Standard Secure Humanoid Containment Cell within a facility in a large uninhabited area in Svalbard, due to it's anomalous ability no other living scp's are contained in the building. As of incident-4276-C all armed security personnel are to use non lethal firearms. Standard equipment consists of a 100,000 volt taser gun and a 50,000 volt taser stick. 5 Mossburg X12 Shotgun Tasers held in the Armoury of the facility if needed. The Armoury must be locked by two separate six digit codes which change weekly. Writing down of the codes is highly discouraged. Constant surveillance through CCTV is to be kept on subject and pressure sensors are to be set up on each wall. As breaching happens often, staff are trained to deal with an escape attempt and how to react after being shifted.
Description: SCP-4276 changes physical form extremely often due to its anomalous ability, whilst it's body changes, it's personality, thoughts and intelligence seems to stay the same, unless the body moved into has a deformity and/or a heavy injury to the head. If moved into a body with such problems, SCP-4276 will experience the same difficulties the original mind had with thinking and brain speed. However when switched back into a non damaged/deformed brain, these effects are gone and SCP-4276 is able to think as they were able to before.
SCP-4276 has the anomalous ability to switch minds with other humans. It happens at random to any living human within a 136 mile vicinity of the entity. It takes a couple of seconds for the minds to switch from one body to the other, the instant the switch initiates, both bodies freeze in place and then start moving after a couple of seconds once the minds have fully switched. The time of the switch doesn't change from distance or mass between the two subjects, being 2.109 seconds each time. If at a far distance from the entity when switching, the person switched will experience extreme nausea and dizziness, as result of their mind moving such a distance in such a short period of time. If SCP-4276 dies they will instantly shift with another human. SCP-4276 will shift as normal but the mind of the person shifted with is lost as it is unable to enter a dead body. In some rare cases where SCP-4276 has died and been revived, an instance of SCP-4276-1 will be made.
Age, physique and intelligence do not lessen or increase the chances of switching, but SCP-4276 has said that their preferred body is aged from 22 to 37, in good shape, eats a diet of both meat and vegetation and has no disease, illness, abnormalities, deformities or permanent damage. SCP-4276 describes these types of bodies the most comfortable and easiest to use.
It was originally hypothesised that SCP-4276's ability was to switch bodies with somebody at random, but was soon figured out from people experiencing the shift. They all seem to describe the same experience, explaining that they see the world fly past them as they are shifted, if in a close vicinity to the entity they see themselves slowly move into the entities body. More evidence of it being minds shifting is when a switch occurs, there's a straight line of high pressure from SCP-4276's head to the subject that SCP-4276 switches with.
The time in-between shifts has been recorded to be at least 6 minutes and the longest being 2 years. The original body of SCP-4276 is unknown but believed that they originate from Europe due to their earliest memories revolving somewhere in Portugal. Because of SCP-4276 swapping and changing locations constantly, they seem to have good understanding of English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Polish, Italian, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, and Finnish. A basic understanding of Bulgarian, Croatian, Indian, Mandarin, Chinese, Russian, Arabic and Japanese. Which has become very helpful when foreign visitors come to the facility to question or examine SCP-4276.
SCP-4276-1 is made during a rare case of SCP-4276 dying and being revived. There have been 4 recorded cases of this happening, 3 of the cases have been due to heart attacks and 1 from drowning. Although without a mind, they can act on some natural instincts, breathing, blinking, eating, drinking and basic movement. They seem to be capable of learning to an extent. The oldest SCP-4276-1 has been through tests and found to respond to certain sounds and words as well as being able to repeat words when asked.
Addendum
SCP-4276-A: An attempted escape led to the death of 2 members of the Security department. SCP-4276 had switched into a member of the Security Department and gained access to the Armoury, which had still contained lethal firearms. SCP-4276 held a member of the Science department hostage within the armoury and tried to bargain for their freedom. After 2 hours SCP-4276 switched into the body of one of the SD trying to relieve the situation. SCP-4276 immediately shot two other SD's, one in the head and the other 4 times in the side of the rib cage where there was an opening in their vest. Moments after shooting the two, one of the other SD's restrained SCP-4276 by holding their arms from behind and then shooting SCP-4276's hands with his pistol. After this incident the suggestion of non lethal firearms was considered, but was rejected. The security of the armoury was changed to digit codes to open.
SCP-4276-B: During a visit of special personnel, SCP-4276 had switched with Dr Bright's body. Due to Dr Bright already being a subject of a mind type anomaly like SCP-4276, the switch was far different than any seen. Although unknown as to what exactly happened, it's theorised that when SCP-4276 switched minds with Dr Bright's body, Dr Brights mind didn't switch, instead going into the Amulet. SCP-4276's body before shift was completely immobile, under some sort of a coma. All life signs and organs of the body worked fine but it never reached any sort of consciousness without a mind hosting the body. During the time that SCP-4276 was inside Dr Brights body, they had complete control, but said they felt extremely uncomfortable and completely wrong the whole time. SCP-4276 said they felt another presence within the body somewhere, most likely Dr Bright. The Amulet was placed on SCP-4276's body to try and give Dr Bright a body, but failed to work. After 3 days SCP-4276 shifted into another body and Dr Bright returned to his own. Dr Bright then made requests to "Leave this place as soon as [redacted] possible." And "We're leaving right now, I don't give a [redacted] if we're not allowed to."
SCP-4276-C: On December 6th [redacted] SCP-4276 had shifted into a member of the Security personnel once again, SCP-4276 then worked it's way through the facility, shooting and killing every member of staff that they came across. When SCP-4276 came across other members of the Security Department, SCP-4276 would make them self look hurt, once going as far as shooting themselves in the lower abdomen and another in the leg, then giving any other members false information on their own whereabouts. After having confirmed that all members of non-security personnel were dead, SCP-4276 proceeded to shoot them self in the head. Then shifting into another member of security department and shot them self in the head again. SCP-4276 then repeated this until they knew they were no more personnel alive within the facility other than them self. After having killed all staff SCP-4276 stole a disguised facility van. After driving 120 miles to the east, SCP-4276 found and hijacked a boat, killing everyone on board, drove away to Norway and disappeared into society. SCP-4276 had escaped for 4 years before being located in south eastern Serbia, it then took another 3 months until being re-contained back in Svalbard. After being a couple hours of being re-contained SCP-4276 started to act extremely depressed, crying, shouting and punching the floor. It was an extremely unusual sight as SCP-4276 is usually very emotionless.
