Item #: SCP-4XXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4XXX is to be kept in a secure chest behind lock and key at all times. At absolutely no time is SCP-4XXX to be looked at by any members of the foundation unless otherwise stated for further testing.
Description: SCP-4XXX is a rolled-up paper poster of "Garrev", a fictitious pop star. When unraveled, it reveals the charming pop star in front of a blue and pink tinted background. The star's stage name, "Garrev", appears in big gold letters at the top of the poster.
SCP-4XXX was originally discovered in a suburban home outside of Omaha, NE. It had seemingly led to mental breakdowns of five teenage girls shortly after unraveling it and was brought to the foundation for further study. It comes from an unknown origin, although a local artisan is suspected to have originally designed it [See: Document 4XXX-I-2].
Subjects who view the poster become susceptible to a rapid decline in mental state and stability. While at first humored and befuddled, subjects will start to stare hypnotically at the poster if looked at longer than ten seconds. After 15 minutes of looking at SCP-4XXX, subjects will start to hum and dance to a melody that is not actually occurring. After 32 minutes of staring at the poster and mindlessly dancing, subjects will start whispering "Garrev Garrev Garrev Garrev" underneath their breath. This whispering will build incrementally until the subject is screaming the incantation directly to the poster.
If left unchecked, the subject will be put into a panicked state as they desperately apologize to SCP-4XXX for not being "a better fan". At this point, the subject may exhibit any number of hysterical actions, including bursting into tears, running around the room, pulling their hair out, vomiting or rolling up into a fetal position. This hysterical state will persist until the subject is removed from the poster's vicinity and locked into a detoxification chamber for no less than three days.
