Dr Reinhart Idea #3

Seeking Greenlights: Yes

Page Type: SCP Article

Genre: Horror, Mystery

Page Layout: I would likely use the standard format, along with a recovery log and a text block for the journal entries discovered.

Elevator Pitch:

SCP XXXX is a copy of Lewis Carroll's Alice In Wonderland in the form of a pop up book. Finishing the book will summon SCP XXXX-A in the coming days. People will report in the days following a pair of yellow eyes watching them in an unusually dark corner of their room at night, paired with a low purring sound. Some instances have also been seen smiling, with a tail sometimes poking out of the darkness. If the book is revisited upon manifestation of SCP XXXX-A, all text written previously will read as "JOIN THE RABBIT DOWN THE HOLE", with the pictures depicting the current area of manifestation. The book will undergo a process or constant rewriting upon a subject entering SCP XXXX-A. The title will begin to change the name from Alice to that of the subject's name, and detail the journey of said subject throughout Wonderland, generating infinite pages if actions have exceeded the set of pages present. If multiple people have entered, they will not be mentioned unless they interact with the "protagonist". The book ends with the death or escape of the subject, and will return to its normal format after.

SCP XXXX-A is a hole that appears on a nearby suitable surface 2-3 days after reading the book. The hole stays indefinitely until a person has entered, which will then close within a 6-10 hour period. A distant ticking noise can be heard from inside the hole, and when entered, will lead the subject falling down an abyss littered with clocks and watches with synchronized ticking. Subjects crash into a large pocket watch at the bottom, who become unconscious on impact. Upon wake, subjects find themselves in a dark distorted landscape similar to that of Wonderland, which is also inhabited by entities described in the book. Time functions normally, but is elapsed at the surface. A door will randomly surface among the trees within Wonderland that requires a key, and will change positions at the start of every day. All attempts to damage or break the door have failed. The door will lead back into the normal world upon entry, and is the only known way to escape.

Central Narrative: SCP XXXX was discovered after a police investigation into a missing person revealed an identical figure described and illustrated within the pages of SCP-XXXX. When the book was brought back for evidence storage, the contents changed, describing the victim's death, in which the book returned to normal after a day. Enter the SCPF, and further testing revealed more of its anomalous traits. During an expedition within SCP XXXX-A, a recon rover recovers the journal from the former victim, which details her interactions with the entities and encounters within the landscape. As the journal continues, it describes how she slowly became one with the madness of Wonderland.

Hook/Attention-Grabber: The madness that consumed the victim didn't come out of nowhere, and may have been the cause of downfall for its other victims.

Additional Notes: The only reason this is on here is because this would considered "too long" to be on the Idea Critique forum, going over the 400 word limit by 96 words.
