Special Containment Procedure: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a 5x4x3m rectangular titanium-framed glass cube with only two key card accessible doors, each in opposite corners of the containment chamber that are only accessible by personnel with level 5 clearance.
SCP-XXXX's containment chamber should be placed inside a 10x8x7m containment area that is to be no less than 100 meters away from any area accessible to foundation personnel, having changed from 65 meters after incident XXXX-a, see Addendum XXXX-01 for further detail.
SCP-XXXX's containment area should only accessible by a two-way elevator that requires a special key to be activated, in which one of them are to be given to each personnel assigned to SCP-XXXX's containment area.
A titanium seal with a diameter of one meter that is secured by a set of two locks is to completely seal off SCP-XXXX's core. SCP-XXXX's seal should be able to be removed and replaced. The locks on SCP-XXXX's seal are to be thoroughly inspected no less than twice a week for any possible mechanism failures that may occur in the future.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a 1.2 meter tall cylindrical outdoor concrete fire pit with a diameter of approximately 1 meter. SCP-XXXX has an outer 0.5 meter tall severely chipped concrete ring with a diameter of 1.6 meters. Tests have deduced that the material that makes up SCP-XXXX is not concrete as the elements residing inside of it does not contain the atomic structure that of standard concrete, but does display many similar properties.
SCP-XXXX shows signs old age from the chipped and stained skin of its concrete, geologists have determined SCP-XXXX to be approximately 60 years old. SCP-XXXX's core supports a constant flame of an unknown source and fuel that has been noted to reach a temperature of 1,265°C.
SCP-XXXX was discovered in a park in ██████, ███████, in 19██, and recovered by MTF squad Echo-05 of Paradox-12, designated "Exodus Winds".
Whenever material not consisting of titanium comes within an approximate 43.09m radius of SCP-XXXX, regardless of the amount of exposure, it will turn to ash upon entering this radius, this is referred to as SCP-XXXX's kill zone.
SCP-XXXX's kill zone is a sphere of microscopic amber particles that is able to pass through any matter, emitting a luminescent source of light with no distinct color that is not visible to the naked eye, but can be seen at wave lengths of 600 nm to about 900 nm. These amber particles consist of high amounts of condensed pressure that instantly explodes into flame whenever it comes into contact with any other element than titanium.
The containment procedure for SCP-XXXX ensures that it's kill zone is contained inside it's core.
*Addendum XXXX-01: Incident XXXX-a
█/█/████, 04 researcher and senior geologist Dr. Adam Tiag, alongside 03 researcher Dr. Fred Michaels were inspecting the age and possible origin of the material that makes up SCP-XXXX. █ minutes after inspection began, the locks on SCP-XXXX's seal were released by an unknown personnel with the appearance of a male scientist, the subject's face became scrambled when it came into view of the research sector's cameras.
The unknown personnel was seen to have removed SCP-XXXX's seal via an outside network that infiltrated site ███'s security system, after which the unknown personnel immediately vacated the area.
All personnel within a 43.09 meter radius of SCP-XXXX instantly turned to ash, resulting in the deaths of two MTF personnel, an 03 researcher, and an 04 researcher inside SCP-XXXX's containment area. SCP-XXXX's kill zone reached its research center and several other research areas, resulting in the deaths of ██ foundation personnel and one undisclosed SCP.
A Class D Personnel (D-8609) was sent into SCP-XXXX's research area to re-contain SCP-XXXX's kill zone. Upon entering SCP-XXXX's research area using a provided level 4 key card, SCP-XXXX's combustion process initiated and D-8609's body began to melt like wax. D-8609 proceeded to limp towards the lock controls on the other side of the room whilst in a state of constant agony.
D-8609 reached the control panel and activated the unlocking mechanism as instructed. The emergency sprinkler system initiated in the research area after the cooling system had successfully rebooted, extinguishing D-8609.
After SCP-XXXX's kill zone was successfully re-contained, an armed personnel was dispatched to SCP-XXXX's research area to recover D-8609's body, who was found alive screaming in constant anguish. D-8609 was provided with pain killers and was taken to the medical ward where he later died from his severe burn wounds.
The unknown personnel responsible for the incident, who was presumed to have been an accomplice of the Chaos Insurgency, was never found. Cameras within approximately fifty meters of SCP-XXXX's research area were reported to have been temporarily disrupted during the incident after SCP-XXXX's seal was removed.
Memo from head researcher of SCP-XXXX, Dr. Robert Harmer, regarding Incident XXXX-a:
"SCP-XXXX's kill zone has rapidly increased, and is likely to increase further. It has been only one month since the last recorded range of 2 meters. SCP-XXXX's kill zone expansion has been theorized to have happened due to an extreme build up inside SCP-XXXX's core from gases formed by the chemicals in the cooling system fusing with the chemicals contained inside SCP-XXXX's kill zone matter. A request to change SCP-XXXX's object class from Euclid to Keter has been submitted. Request Granted."
SCP-XXXX has been relocated and is to be left sealed off, any request to remove SCP-XXXX's seal will be met with immediate denial, even requests made by 05 personnel. SCP-XXXX's unlocking mechanism has been scheduled to be dismantled. 02 researcher and geologist, Dr. Selena Kay has been reassigned to SCP-XXXX's containment area as a replacement for Dr. Michaels. A replacement for Dr. Tiag is currently pending.
