Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4284 is to be contained at site-[DATA REDACTED] in a 5 cm thick zirconium cylinder with a radius of 40 m and height of 30 m at all times. The cylinder is to be filled with dilute hydrochloric acid up to a height of 25 m. Oxygen is to be ventilated into SCP-4284's containment chamber via a vent located at the top of the containment chamber. SCP-4284 is to be fed at least 3 kilograms of either rainbow trout, deer, haddock, owl, salmon,or ox meat daily. Subject is known to prefer human flesh over other food items. Any other food items will be rejected by SCP-4284.
Other potential food types are currently being tested in order to conserve Foundation resources.
Description: SCP-4284 is a marine creature with 2 layers of skin similar in size and form to an average tiger shark when submerged in hydrochloric acid. However, when SCP-4284 is not submerged in hydrochloric acid, it can grow up to 25 m in length. SCP-4284's outer skin is devoid of pigmentation, and is estimated to be 2-6 cm thick, and has been shown to be resistant to any known substance, except hydrochloric acid. Samples of SCP-4284's outer skin shows that it is composed of an unknown material, unlike any living organism found on this Earth. SCP-4284's inner layer of skin is assumed to be impenetrable. Between the 2 layers of skin is found to be a highly resistant variation of muscle, similar in composition to that of a Great White Shark. It is observed that SCP-4284 is capable of regenerating the muscle between it's inner and outer layer of skin, as well as it's outer layer of skin when damaged, however, is unable to do so in hydrochloric acid. This is presumed to be the reason of SCP-4284's small size in hydrochloric acid.
Subject was found in the Mediterranean, after the mysterious disappearance of the USS Scorpion, in 1968. Foundation personnel were alerted when the US Navy found the wreckage of the USS Scorpion scattered across the ocean floor in October of the same year. MTF teams Gamma-6 and Beta-7 were dispatched and after[DATA REDACTED], SCP-4284 was recovered.
SCP-4284 is usually docile, except when a human enters it's immediate vicinity of 5 m, where it becomes aggressive and will attempt to breach containment and hunt said human, normally failing to do so due to it unable to breach containment and giving up. SCP-4284 seems to kill by biting off the head of it's prey, followed by an immediate consumption of said prey. SCP-4284 is presumed to be deaf, as sound does not affect it, and seems to sense SCP-4284 via electrolysis, a method that sharks use to find their prey. Tests revealed that this is only effective when there is at least 50 W present in the body of SCP-4284-1. Further research is needed to find out more about SCP-4284, to anyone reading this, feel free to suggest experiments.
