SCP-XXXX Acupower pins

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Contain Procedures: When not in use by MTF-++++, all SCP-XXXX instances are to be secured together within a standard issue, plastic, vacuum sealed bag and stored in small anomalous Items locker #79 at Site-XXXX. Only personnel that present and complete form PD-XXXX-344C to, and receive a signed permission slip from Senior Researcher Dr. Heimberger may access SCP-XXXX instances for the time specified in document-XXXX-344C.

**Description:

** SCP-XXXX is a set of two hundred and forty (240) antique acupuncture pins (designated SCP-3287-1 to SCP-3287-240). Instances are primarily composed of unrefined iron with traces of copper and REDACTED present and are each decorated with a single spherical pinhead carved from onyx. When not injected into a host object, SCP-XXXX instances remain at a constant length of 5.8cm.

Instances of SCP-XXXX have been recorded to change in length depending on depth of puncture. When used on humans, lengths conform with pin lengths used in traditional Chinese medicine in such that pins become shorter (2cm) when shallowly embedded in human tissue and longer (9cm) when the puncture is deep. Though Carbon dating of SCP-XXXX has yet been inconclusive, mineral composition of the objects has been traced the REDACTED region in south western Africa.

SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties manifest when injected into any object (both organic and non-organic) that functions as a connected system or part of a connected system, powered by one or multiple energy sources.

Once inserted, SCP-XXXX will increase the power output and efficiency of the area affected by a ratio of 1:2, resulting in a greatly enhanced performance of the area targeted. This effect has been seen to increase as instances of SCP-XXXX are applied to the same area, with output increasing in the same ratio. Removal of an instance of SCP-XXXX from an object result in immediate termination of all anomalous effects.

Studies have revealed the power increasing effects of SCP-XXXX to be mildly addictive. Both animal and human subjects have been noted to suffer from typical symptoms of withdrawal when denied access to SCP-XXXX after extended periods of repeated use. The effect is however weak enough to be suppressed through practice and self-control. Staff actively using SCP-XXXX is still subjected to a bi-weekly addiction screening and a one-week break period after extended use of SCP-XXXX.
