SCP-XXXX
"The traveller"
Classification: Euclid
Containment procedures:
SCP-XXXX should be kept in a lead-lined cage surrounded by reinforced concrete. Personnel are prohibited from entering the cell, unless for maintenance or testing. SCP-XXXX is to be kept in the centre of a standard reinforced lead-lined containment room. SCP-XXXX is to be surrounded by a magnetic field at all times. No less than 5 electromagnets emitting a strength of 400,000 Gauss. If the magnetic field fails, a containment breach of SCP-XXXX will occur. During a containment breach of SCP-XXXX, all members of staff are to find a safe place to hide and seek shelter. All members of staff are to report any patterns not previously recorded to the site supervisor directly.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a sphere of black, shifting liquid 1m in diameter floating approximately 3m off the ground. The liquid is thick and opaque. The object has been seen to periodically pulse and shift as if it were alive. As the object shifts, it starts to become more active, sometimes changing its size and/or shape. SCP-XXXX will attempt to release a destructive concussive blast and teleport after an unknown amount of time. The blast causes some damage to its surroundings but main cause for concern is the damage can cause to brain function. The changes in brain function are thought to be permanent. It was first noted to teleport on 12.3.■■■■. When SCP-XXXX was first found and contained, an incident occurred (see incident log SCP-XXXX-ARK01 for details on impact to brain function).
When touched, SCP-XXXX appears to show the user visions of their fabled afterlife. Most testing with D-class personnel has ended up with no fatalities, but their mental health seems affected. Many have attempted suicide after contact with SCP-XXXX. After testing, 5% of D class subjects entered a conscious but vegetative state, seemingly paralyzed with the exception of the subjects' eyes and eyelids. It is theorized that these subject had committed such heinous crimes that they were not "worthy" of being shown their afterlife, though no tangible evidence exists.
Many subjects after having made contact with the object, claim that it attempted to "speak" to them using varying sounds similar to a musical score, but with random notes being played. Dr. ■■■■ suggested one of his researchers make contact with the object to try and make sense, and to see if its method of communication could be translated into a language we can understand. Testing with researchers is currently awaiting approval from site director at site ■■.
Incident log SCP-XXXX-ARK02:
Date: 12.3.■■■■
9.45am: The object was spotted by locals in a town in northern Arkansas. A man by the name of John Mostyn approached the object which began to pulse as he got closer. After discovering the large black object, Mr Mostyn contacted the local police department.
10.00am: The foundation was then alerted through deep cover agents within the town police. Containment teams were mobilised to collect the object.
11.15am: Object was successfully loaded onto transport after a brief monitoring period.
12.30pm: Object inbound to site[REDACTED]
12.45pm: Strange electrical problems with transport vehicle occurred. Radio static between vehicles in the convoy made communication problematic.
1.00pm: Seemingly without cause 2 vehicles out of the convoy flipped. Containment vehicle swerved out of the way and came to a stop.
1.01pm: A high pitched ringing could be heard for around ten seconds after which, the sides of the truck seemed to buckle and crunch with jagged metal breaking. The top of the vehicle was completely destroyed.
1.02pm: Object released a concussive blast which completely destroyed the trailer of the containment vehicle, killing the driver after which Object disappeared. Personnel who survived the blast had severe brain damage which impaired cognitive functionality.
1.10pm: Transportation failure reported to foundation.
17.53pm: Foundation notified of an object matching the description of the one found in Arkansas. Object spotted in a known highly magnetic field outside of [REDACTED].
18.13pm: Foundation staff arrived onsite at the anomaly. Preliminary site ARK01 was set up to monitor the object.
21.00pm: Readings of the object seem to match those of the surrounding magnetic field. Containment procedures drafted to include a magnetic field in both transport and in containment cell. Funding approved for transportation using a magnetic field generator in a standard issue foundation truck.
