Special containment procedures: SCP-5027 is to be kept in a 6 m x 6 m x 12 m airtight room with four (4) adjustable sprinklers located at the top of the room. SCP-5027 is kept in a 2 m x 2 m flatbed of potting soil. The room is to be kept between 29 c to 40.5 c. One (1) blast door is located on either side of the containment cell. Under no circumstances are any personnel allowed within the containment cell between the dates of April 24th to June 21st. Access to the containment cell requires level 3 clearance or higher; however, this does not apply to on-site cooking staff, however, they are to be monitored at all times while in the containment cells. Five (5) gallons of water and eight (8) hours of artificial sunlight are to be supplied to SCP-5027 daily.
Description: SCP-5027 appears to be an ordinary Carica Papaya (Papaya Tree) measuring at 7.6 m tall. The leaves appear to be drooping heavily. Twenty seven (27) ripe papaya fruit grow on SCP-5027; and when one fruit is plucked off, an identical fruit appears in its place near instantaneously. This fruit is reported to be “very sweet and delicious” and does not appear to spoil. Between the dates of April 24th and June 21st is when the anomalous properties of the SCP appear. Anyone standing on soil, detritus, or a similar material within 10 m of SCP-5027 will be entangled by the plant’s roots and will be slowly pulled underground, the victim (now classified as SCP-5027-1) will sink completely no matter the thickness of the soil. this affect is not limited to just human beings either, and is known to target all animals. After the consumption of a living being,the leaves will cease drooping, and the fruit of SCP-5027 obtains a blood red coloring and it’s iron content skyrockets for weeks afterward, however the consumption of the fruit is still completely safe. SCP-5027 was retrieved in ████ outside of ██████, Guatemala after local people reported a disturbing number of disappearances of people around ██████ ████████ farms. Upon investigation, it was found that SCP-5027 had blood red juice dripping from its fruit. it was uprooted and transferred to site ██.
