Dr Sillver's Proposal: SCP-4956: The Infinite Monkey Cage

Item #: SCP-4956

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4956 is to be contained inside a 5 m by 5 m by 5 m chamber with 2 cameras monitoring both SCP-4956 and SCP-4956-3. One armed guard must be posted outside SCP-4956's chamber at all times, rotating every 2 hours.

Description: SCP-4956 is a 1.5 m by 1.5 m by 2.5 m steel cage with a single steel bar door which can be likened to that of a square bird cage. Inside of SCP-4956 is a chair, a small desk and SCP-4956-3. SCP-4956-3 is a small, white typewriter with black keys. SCP-4956-3 is capable of producing an infinite amount of paper for the purposes of typing upon. All attempts to remove SCP-4956-3 from the cage have been futile. After SCP-4956-3 has produced 3 meters of written paper, the paper tears at the bottom; the paper must be collected by the guard on duty and stored in the viewing area. The typing is done by an instance of SCP-4956-2.

SCP-4956-2 is a small Pan troglodytes (chimpanzee) with brown colouring on it's fur. SCP-4956-2 will constantly type using SCP-4956-3 with the majority of its text being complete nonsensical writing. However, on occasion, SCP-4956-2 has typed out several works of fiction and non-fiction sentences, paragraphs, chapters and even books that already exist without (to our knowledge) any exposure to said texts. Any attempt to remove an instance of SCP-4956-2 via the cage door results in said instance disappearing and a new instance appearing in the chair, asleep; the instance wakes up within a span of 5 seconds and proceeds to continue typing. SCP-4956-2 does not seem to require food (yet this did not stopped Dr Cartwright from attempting to feed it a banana).

SCP-4956's relatability to the Infinite Monkey Theory has been acknowledged. If anyone has any questions on handling SCP-4956-2, please ask Dr Cartwright███████.

Addendum 4956.1:First written text

SCP-4956-2 was viewed writing nonsense when it started writing Chapter 2 from Equus, a 1973 play by Peter Shaffer. Dr ███████ was viewing Camera 2, the camera which monitors SCP-4956-3, at the time when he started recognising the eligible text. Noticing the text was in script form, he contacted Professor ██████████, the literature expert on site, and read him a few of the lines, Professor ██████████, searched the archive and identified the text. SCP-4956-2 finished writing the chapter and went on to write more nonsensical words.

Addendum 4956.2:File Copy and Replacement

SCP-4956-2 was viewed writing nonsense for 5 hours since it's previously eligible word when it wrote the word SCP. This caught the attention of Dr ███████, who was again monitoring Camera 2. The instance of SCP-4956-2 went on to write the entirety of SCP-████'s File. The discovery of SCP-4956-2's ability to write files from the Foundation led to it being neutralised, which is when SCP-4956-2's self-replacement ability was discovered.
