Item #: SCP-5101
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: 5101 is contained within a 400m radius in [REDACTED] National Park and should be monitored at all times. The radius stated may be subject to change as the population is expected to grow exponentially. Civilian access is to be denied employing an “unpredictable geological event” cover story. Observation post #147 has been set up along with a supply route to the containment zone which supply’s SCP-5101 with 20 sheets of paper, a 3’x3’ sheet of aluminum, and various seeds at SCP-5101’s request.
All personnel entering the containment zone are required to wear level C hazardous materials protection, due to the presence of highly radioactive substances. Upon departure, a standard decontamination procedure is to be undertaken to prevent the uncontrollable spread of SCP-5101.
Description: SCP-5101 is an organized mass of unknown species of the genus Sphecomyrmodes spanning in a 20”x20” area. Each member is roughly 1.5 cm in length. Individual members have achieved sentience through unknown means and have established a rudimentary economically based system of government resembling that of the 1900’s America. SCP-5101 has built several small structures made out of wood, aluminum, glucose, and a substance resembling concrete however upon observation it is apparent that SCP-5101 has no means of obtaining concrete, further research is ongoing.
SCP-5101 uses tools resembling that of smaller forms of hammers, scythes, axes, and pickaxes to build these structures. Unlike a traditional species of ant, SCP-5101 has no anthill or anything resembling an anthill. In addition to this, they have no known queen or leader, making their means of reproduction a mystery.
Further research has concluded that SCP-5101 uses a language resembling a form of 16th century Japanese and developed a similar writing system they use to communicate with personnel working at Observation Post #147.
SCP-5101 has developed a road system to connect two buildings. The buildings that SCP-5101 has constructed are as follows:
1. Housing
a. Lower Class
b. Upper Class
2. Fully Functional Nuclear Power Plant
3. Schools
4.Factories
It is expected that SCP-5101’s containment zone will be expanded continuously until the 05 Council members 1-7 agree to the inevitable termination of SCP-5101. SCP-5101 has expressed its desire for the members of SCP-5101 to “Manifest Our Destiny.” Instances of SCP-5101’s operation have already occurred(see Addendum-SCP-5101-5), and the growth rate of SCP-5101 may drastically increase within the following years.
Addendum-SCP-5101-6: On █/█/2020 a facility guard was overseeing the communication of SCP-5101 and Dr. ███████ Tanaka as he is the translator for site ██. While the communication was going on, Dr. Tanaka got into an argument with SCP-5101 about politics in 19th-century American literature. SCP-5101 threatened Dr. Tanaka during the verbal discourse, resulting in a large group of SCP-5101 members who began to tie the nearby facility guard around his ankles. The facility guard was attacked and brought away from Dr. Tanaka as members of SCP-5101 began to crawl into the several holes located on his body such as the mouth, ears, nose, and even the ███████.
All personnel were escorted off the site as a squad of MTF was sent into the mass of SCP-5101 in an attempt to locate and rescue the facility guard. However, the attempt was unsuccessful and no bodies, including those of the MTF squad, were recovered.
Addendum-SCP-5101-5: On 1/█/2020 a colony of Formica Pacifica was found approximately 80 yards from the epicenter of SCP-5101. After a brief examination, scientists at Observation Post #147 estimated that it was roughly 8 to 12 years old. Judging by this, the colony of Formica Pacifica was very large, rivaling that of SCP-5101.
The following day at █:██ AM a loud sound resembling that of an explosion woke all scientists, D-Class, and facility guard personnel within 500 ft of the source. A few minutes later a wildfire had broken out in the surrounding forest, however, it quickly burnt out due to a still-unknown cause. Further questioning from SCP-5101 and their “delegates” revealed that the colony of Formica Pacifica was, and I quote “In the way of their expansion.” It was later discovered that SCP-5101’s researchers had been working on a weapon. The weapon is a .22 caliber bullet, presumably from one of the MTF or facility guards weapons, that had been hollowed out and replaced with the machinery required in that of early nuclear weapons.
They then proudly exclaimed that they were the ones who caused the explosion, and for the past few months, had been expanding in that general direction. However, earth samples from the blast site indicate that the nuclear fallout will most likely kill any small creature that stays in the region for more than 5 minutes. Further research will be needed to see if SCP-5101 is immune to ionizing radiation.
