Item #: SCP-5014
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5014 cannot be relocated to an SCP Facility, but has been quarantined off in the ███████ Mall in ███████. No personnel below a Level 3 keycard are permitted to interact with SCP-5014. Those who do escape SCP-5014's anomalous effects must first go through intense psychotherapeutic testing.
Description: SCP-5014 is an anomalous effect that began in ███████, Australia. It involves an entity that loops through a series of actions before they revert to the first action that they performed, which repeats endlessly. The entity trapped within this loop is not aware that it's looping until someone tells the entity to do something out of its initial loop. When that happens, the original entity that looped will break the loop, but the entity/s that warned them about it will now be the new entity/s that loops. Other actions have been performed to attempt to stop the loop, but nothing has worked thus far.
Many attempts to destroy the looping individual/s have met with failure, as even killing the looping individuals has caused some of our brightest personnel to loop instead.
On the 06/11/1982, over 25 Mobile Task Force Operatives, sent by Dr. Amelia Ront, were sent to Neutralize SCP-5014. When they attempted to neutralize the anomaly (which was, at the time, a common housecat) the entire Task Force was stuck in a constant loop, and they remain there to this day in fear of the anomaly spreading more. The housecat, after being released from the anomaly, walked off. Our hypothesis this that SCP-5014 is somewhat sentient, and was able to understand that the 25+ operatives were there to end its existence. Later called "Operation: Looper", this unfortunate day has led many individuals to come up with solutions on getting their partners back from the anomaly.
Many conversations have been made, demanding that we use D-Class Personnel on the 25+ members of the initial Operation, to allow them to understand and live a happy life. From our past experiments, we have concluded that it isn't right for us to do so because they will realize how long it's been, and will most likely try to end their lives. The Foundation has decided against the idea.
Entities that have escaped the loop have an over-alarming fear of patterns and repeating information. If they witness anything repeating after they have escaped the loop, they will attempt to mutilate themselves. Some cases show individuals stabbing themselves in the eyes and throat, or even committing suicide to "stop the patterns".
