Object Class: Euclid
Special containment procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be kept on a table in its containment chamber, caution should be taken when touching or moving SCP-XXXX to prevent accidental injury. Screws that are embedded in any site personnel are to be removed immediately to stop infection.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is a wooden handled screwdriver of an unknown make. After analysis the wood has been identified as birch.
SCP-XXXX was found in 20██ at an abandoned workshop in [REDACTED] Germany after an article was found telling of a series of incidents involving screw related injuries that occurred there.
SCP-XXXX is now contained in site-█.
When the metal end of SCP-XXXX is pressed against anything, no matter if organic or inorganic, a metal screw will be embedded into it, this includes humans. It has been noted that SCP-XXXX can be used for recreational use, but due to the high rate of accidents that SCP-XXXX has been responsible for, it's been decided that it should stay in its chamber.
It takes a considerable amount of pressure for SCP-XXXX to dispense screws, this makes handling it much more easier. The screws that it does dispense vary in material and length, ranging from short copper to long steel screws. The latter of which can be a pain to remove from subjects.
When a living being does press SCP-XXXX against their own flesh, a screw will materialize and injure said being. Injuries include the breaking of skin and veins resulting in blood loss; there have been examples of screws breaking through bone, however this is rare as there have only been a few recorded incidents of it happening.
Experiment log:
SCP-XXXX-A
(15 Aug 07)
Subject: D-8841
(What follows is the log of an experiment involving D-8841 and SCP-XXXX)
START LOG [Time: 10:48 AM]
Procedure: D-8841 is placed inside SCP-XXXX's containment chamber, his instructor is a Dr. ███
Dr. ███: D-8841, please pick up the object in front of you.
(D-8841 equips SCP-XXXX)
D-8841: I have it! What now?
Dr. ███: Please press SCP-XXXX against the table in front of you.
(D-8841 does so. As soon as it's pressed against the table a small screw is visible embedded inside of it.)
(D-8841 stumbles back in surprise)
Dr. ███: That's enough, guards take D-8841 back to his-
(Dr. ███ is cut off by a pained yell and then loud cursing coming from inside the containment chamber)
D-8841: Ah ████! What the hell?!
Dr. ███: Oh for the love of god. Guards, take D-8841 to the medical bay.
END LOG [Time 10:59 AM]
Results:
D-8841 was taken to the medical bay where a short screw was extracted from his palm. D-8841 was treated for minor blood loss and taken back to his cell.
Analysis:
Yet another example of SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties.
Overall, it's safe to say that while it is kept in this foundation there will be no more or at least less incidents involving SCP-XXXX.
ADDENDUM - SCP-XXXX-1
On May 17 2010 a curious change in the nature of SCP-XXXX's screws was noted after an experiment at site-██ where one of them was left in a D-Class's palm for an extended period of time. A few hours after contact with SCP-XXXX the D-Class began to report a mild itch coming from the affected area that seemed to get worse as time went on, even getting to a point where the D had to be physically restrained from scratching their skin off and/ or pulling the screw out of themselves.
A few days after the initial experiment; the D-Class subject who, after the time spent with the screw stuck in their palm, was found to have a strange substance around the affected area. The substance (identified shortly after as a mix of metal and human flesh) seemed to grow outwards from the initial wound at a rate of 0.1cm per hour, it should also be noted that the substance seemed more metallic at and around the impact point. The subject, at this point, was thrashing around and screaming incoherent words and expletives all the while trying to break free of their restraints.
Over several months the D-Class subject was surveyed by site staff, slowly being converted from human to metal while slowly becoming more and more unresponsive. Subject was eventually found slumped over in the test chamber, completely converted into pure metal. After it was confirmed that no life signs were coming from the D-Class two guards went into the chamber to retrieve the body. When the guards touched the corpse, however, screws quickly lodged themselves into their gloves and skin. The retrieval was aborted and the screws were removed. From then on, the corpse of the D-Class subject was referred to as SCP-XXXX-1.
