Special Containment Procedures: Current containment procedures consist of securing a 2000 m² perimeter around Scp-XYZQ. The perimeter must secured by no less than eight(8) field agents at all times. Entry into the surrounding area of Scp-XYZQ is to be denied under the false pretense of "Military training." Due to the nature of SCP-XYZQ, permanent on-site containment is not considered important, nor feasible at the moment, for Scp-XYZQ can disappear and manifest somewhere else if threatened with fire, ████ or certain tools. Translocating seems to be possible only to within natural range Betula pendula.

Description:Scp-XYZQ is a birch tree of the genus Betula with unremarkable physical appearance, structure and consistency [when not in the process of a XYZQ-K or XYZQ-M event]. The trunk of SCP-XYZQ is approximately 16 meters tall and 70 cm wide. As of writing this document, it is located on an edge of a field in ████ North Karelia, Finland. Previous locations of Scp-XYZQ's manifestations include: ████ Åland, ██████ Sweden,██ Norway, ███████Western Russia, and █████, Poland.

Scp-XYZQ follows the normal biological functions of a birch, such as going through photosynthesis, producing pollen in spring, growing leaves in summer and dropping said leaves in accordance with the normal annual cycle of a birch in its surrounding environment. Scp-XYZQ's anomalous effect will take place when a person who has experienced severe trauma, loss, guilt or even ██████ in roughly the last year enters within 10 meters of Scp-XYZQ. After this one of two events, XYZQ-K or XYZQ-M will occure. The event is determined by the amount, severity and reason for the subjects guild, trauma or grief.

Event XYZQ-M
If the subject is considered "innocent", event XYZQ-M will be initiated. [The methods with which
Scp-XYZQ determines ones guilt or innocence are as of yet, unknown.] After a few seconds of standing near Scp-XYZQ subjects will express clear emotional distress. After two(2) to three (3) minutes of crying has passed, the subject will calm down and walk to Scp-XYZQ with the intent to rest. If achieved, the subject will enter a catatonic state, and either fall down in front of Scp-XYZQ or fall on their knees. This catatonic state will usually last for about 20 hours, but times exceeding 50 hours have been recorded. Upon a subject reaching this state, Scp-XYZQ will seemingly bend the top of its leaves in a way to cover the subject. Additionally, a message will appear carved on the bark. The recorded messages include: "I miss you", "Move on", "I love you" and "██████ ███" After awakening and seeing the carved message the subject will usually feel cathartic, relaxed and renewed to an extent.

Event XYZQ-K
If the subject is considered "guilty" event XYZQ-K will be initiated. Immediately after entering the
10-meter radius around Scp-XYZQ subjects will show intense terror, shock, and will start crying uncontrollably. It is of note, that the crying and certain vocalizations will not stop even after the subject expires. After expressing intense terror for twenty(20) to thirty(30) minutes, the subject will attempt to terminate themselves by rupturing their organs or eyes, or suffocating themselves with a stick. Two(2) subjects have also self-terminated by ████████. A message will appear on the bark just as the subject expires, seemingly with the blood of known murder victims linked to "guilty" subjects. The messages are accusing and hateful in tone. Recorded messages include: "Why", "I hate you", "Suffer as I did" and "What happened to████ ██?"

Test XYZQ-1

Subject: D-29517, female, 28. No physical characteristics of note. Sentenced to death for aggravated assault and manslaughter.

Result: Immediately after [unwillingly] entering the 10-meter radius of SCP-XYZQ, subject expressed terror via vocalizing, covering their eyes, and ██████ themself. After 27 minutes, subject ripped off a branch from Scp-XYZQ and proceeded to stab themself in the upper half of their abdomen several times. Subject expired 2 minutes and 57 seconds from initial entrance of XYZQ's radius. Vocalization stopped █ hours after expiration.

Note: Because of subjects un-cooperative behavior, they had to be pushed to the radius of effect. This did not seem to have an immediate effect on the results, but should not be reenacted.

Test XYZQ-2

Subject: D-26913, male, 43. Slightly overweight. Sentenced to death for killing and ████████ his daughter.

Result: Subject expressed grief, disgust and began crying while screaming their daughters name. After 20 minutes of hysteric crying, vomiting and yelling, subject proceeded to ██████ █████████ ███████████. Subject expired 34 minutes and 6 seconds after entering the radius of XYZQ. Vocalizations seized ██ hours after subjects expiration. [Message: Father? Remember me?]

Test XYZQ-3

Subject: D-94873, male, 39 previously know as Dr.█████. Demoted to D-class by 05-council for neglect of his duties to protect civilian lives, resulting in over ██ deaths.

Result: Subject began to weep and seemed to "caress" something- or someone. Then began to yell "NO NO NO, NOT YOU, NOT YOUU!" and suffocated themself via over █ kilograms of Scp-XYZQ leaves. Subject expired 1 hour and 41 minutes after entry into the radius of effect. Vocalizations, although muffled, seized 2 days and 14 hours after subjects expiration. [Message: How could you?]

Test XYZQ-4

Subject: D-66512, female, 24, claiming to be wrongly accused of murder.

Result: Subject entered the radius of effect with no resistance, being told it was a normal tree. After entry, the subject froze in place and afterwards broke down sobbing, and fell to their knees. After 2 minutes and 18 seconds, subject walked toward Scp-XYZQ and assumed a resting position. As the subject laid down, the highest branches of Scp-XYZQ formed a dome over the subject for 21 hours and 44 minutes. After witch, the subject stayed unresponsive for 40 minutes. Subject expressed feelings of serenity and newfound confidence. Subsequent testing with the same subject gave no results, even after ███ ███████. [Message found "Hello ███,██████, forgive"]

Test XYZQ-5

Subject: Dr.██████, 58, lost his family in a plane accident seven months ago. Uses anti-depressants regularly.

Result: Subject willingly entered the radius of Scp-XYZQ, upon witch, he fell into a state akin to a trance. He slumbered to Scp-XYZQ, sat down against it and fell into a catatonic state. The branches formed a dome, and Dr.██████ awoke after 38 hours, and described his feelings as "Rejuvenated and closer to my family" He has not consumed anti-depressants since test XYZQ-5.
