Special Containment Procedures: Due to the nature of SCP-5767 containment is currently not possible therefore a misinformation campaign is instead to be deployed. SCP agents within NASA are to take extensive measures to ensure that all missions towards Saturn are cancelled or delayed. If attempts to delay any missions to Saturn have failed agents are authorized to sabotage launch, fatalities are to be avoided but containment is the priority. All existing recordings are not to leave site 19 and Nasa systems are to be monitored to ensure that no more recordings surface. All online forms of media are to be monitored for any mentions of SCP-5767 or Saturn’s rings in general. If a breach of containment is found, all associated individuals and readers are to be questioned on their source and given Class C Amnesics.

Description: SCP-5767 is a 35-kilometre squared anomalous region within Saturn’s ring, in which sound can be heard despite the lack of an atmosphere. This region was discovered following its exploration by NASA’s Cassini spacecraft in which recordings were captured detailing an anomalous sound now known as SCP-5767-1. Agents within NASA quickly moved to cover the story by recovering all iterations, destroying all NASA equipment around Saturn, and anesthetized the staff who listened to it.

SCP-5767-1 is the primary sound that can be heard within the anomalous region, dominating all other sounds. SCP-5767-1 is a screaming sound similar to that of a humanoid or humanoid like entity. The sound is also distant in the original recordings, so exploration has been approved to attempt to capture more recordings, or even establish a permanent listening network.

Test-1 2017/10/4
Subject: D-5767-1
Procedure: D-class placed within testing chamber and the original audio recording is played in full.
Results: The subject reports feeling “dread” and “helplessness” wash over them as they listen to the recording, they also refer to the scream as “ghostly” and question if the room is getting colder. Once the recording finishes the subject reports that the feelings of dread and helplessness have receded.

Test-2 2017/10/5
Subject: D-5767-2
Procedure: D-class is placed within the testing chamber and a lopped version of the recording is to be played. At the end of each loop the subject is asked to rate out of ten the intensity of emotions the recording elicits.
Results: The subject reported feeling “creeped out” and “drained” whilst listening to the recording, when prompted by researchers they agreed that “helplessness” and “dread” are better descriptors. The following shows at which loop their ratings changed:

Test-5 2017/10/18

Procedure:** The subject used in Test5767-1 had begun to show curious behaviors, following this they were interviewed and then played the recording again.
Results: after interviewing the subject it seemed as though they had begun to suffer from acute depression and anxiety. Furthermore, they reported feeling like they were being watched. When asked by who they simply pointed, It was later confirmed that they pointed in the direction of SCP-5767. When researchers attempted to play the recording the subject began to become extremely distressed, crawling into the corner and screaming. It took 4 personnel to restrain D-5767-1 and return them to their cell.

Addendum-1
Measures are to be taken to ensure that no further personnel are exposed to SCP5767-1 and all staff previously exposed are to be placed under observation.

Addendum-2
SCP-5767-1 is to be reclassified to a Cognition hazard and the new priority is to find a potential cure for its effects. As of 2017/10/19 73 staff members have been confirmed to have listened to the recording, 43 of which are currently showing symptoms.

Procedure: The subject was given Class C Amnestic’s
Results: Mental deterioration persisted, adverse reaction to recording persisted.

Addendum-3
Description: All individuals exposed to the recording of SCP5767-1 suffer from a deterioration in mental health including depression, anxiety, paranoia and psychosis all of which inevitably leads to the subject committing suicide. Currently 110 have died including 14 NASA scientists.

Procedure: The subject uses is given a course of SSRI's.
Results: Brain scans and interviews show no change in symptoms.

Addendum-4
Following confirmation that site director [REDACTED] has both listened to the recording and is now showing symptoms, tests looking for a cure are to become site 19 primary goal.

Subject: Dr Swales
Procedure: SCP-999 enters the temporary cell where Dr Swales is held
Results: Dr Swales comes out of the fetal position as soon as SCP-999 enters the room. SCP-999 approaches the Dr, rubbing up against his leg, resulting in the Dr smiling. Various tests show that Dr Swales is no longer under the effects of SCP-5767-1.
Notes: Request for permanent transfer of SCP-999 to site 19 pending O5 approval.

Exploration log-1 2017/12/05
Synopsis: A drone with video and audio capturing hardware was sent to SCP-5767. Upon entering the region SCP-5767-1 was picked up however, all research personnel monitored its EM waves rather than listening to it, avoiding a breach. As the noise became louder and the drone neared the source, the video began to malfunction. Contact with the drone was lost.
Notes: Researchers believe that the anomalous region seems to be larger than their initial projections.

Exploration log-2 2018/02/12
Synopsis: A drone with video and audio capturing hardware was sent to SCP-5767. The drone entered the anomalous region much sooner than predicted, upon entering it instantly malfunctioned. contact with the drone was lost.
Notes: Researchers confirm that the anomalous region is expanding, predicted to now be approximately 130 Kilometers squared.

Addendum-6
Containment protocols: Currently containment is impossible and no way of slowing down the expansion is known. The expansion is instead to be monitored using stationary drones within and without the region, these devices should be equipped with video and audio recording hardware.

Addendum-7
Monitoring protocols confirm that the noise is slowly increasing in volume throughout the region as it increases in size.

Doctor: I am so, so sorry I…
O5-█: Dr I did not ask for an apology, I asked for you to walk me through the incident, now please, proceed.
Doctor: Well… monitoring of SCP-5767-1 found that the rate at which its volume was increasing skyrocketed so we…. I decided that a test was in order to ensure that there was no change in its effects.
O5-█ Go on
Doctor: We followed the correct procedures, the procedures that worked Every Other Time…. But one of the researchers. He miscalculated just how loud the live feed was.
O5-█ Was he off by a significant margin?
Doctor: a factor of 10, [begins to raise his voice in anger} I mean how could he make such a stupid fucking mistake!
O5-█ Well it is your responsibility to ensure that such vital mistakes are avoided.
Doctor: yes… well this one… it slipped past me.
O5-█ but it isn’t just this one is it Dr? Need I remind you how many personnel we lost because you didn’t take the necessary precautions when we first procured the recording? Not to mention the loss of NASA staff.
Doctor: Well, we did follow procedures this time, I wasn’t in the observation room, but I saw the aftermath and watched the footage. There was just so much blood…
O5-█ Doctor you must focus.
The doctor leans back, takes in a breath and then continues.
Doctor: The live feed was so loud that as soon as it played it resulted in an instant rupturing of the D-class personnel’s eardrums. Not just that but the effects were nothing like we have seen before, the suicidal symptom didn’t take months to occur. No he began to strangle himself using the shackles right there, on the spot. But it wasn’t just him. I don’t know how but the researchers in the observation room heard it. I don’t know if it was a fault of the equipment or simply because the noise was so loud, but they ALL heard it. As if a switch had been pulled, they all began to pick up the nearest objects and bludgeon or stab themselves to death. Luckily, the speakers blew out as soon as the feed was played so I and the other personnel could safely get in there, but we were too late. They were all dead.
O5-█ It is to my understanding that the rate at which the volume intensifies is not decreasing, am I correct?
Doctor: Yes
O5-█ Well, until we can find a way to deescalate the properties of SCP-5767-1 all previous containment protocols are to continue, but no more tests are to be conducted without O5 approval.

The Source

Incident report-D 2020/09/012
Synopsis: Monitoring drone 48 malfunctioned, contact with the drone was lost. visuals slowly became increasingly difficult to make out due to static but before cutting out the feed showed limited footage of the source of SCP-5767. The entity is a 6ft tall humanoid entombed on a satellite within Saturn’s ring. At first it seemed like the humanoid was simply standing on the rock, but the picture cleared revealing that this was not the case. The entities limbs are encased in rock up to its elbows and knees, trapping it in a stiff standing position. Its entire body is rendered immobile other than its head which within the footage it thrashing to and fro. This is believed to be a reaction to pain emanating either from constant suffocation or the rock surrounding its limbs. Where the rock meets flesh, they seem to have fused, making it difficult to tell where one starts and the other ends. A currently unknown liquid was oozing from the eyes and ears of the entity which appeared to be black and viscus. Its jaw is unnaturally unhinged, presumably a result of its vocalizations SCP-5767-1 Upon seeing the drone, the entity threw back its head and screamed “HELP!” causing the feed to cut out. Contact with the drone was lost.
Notes: the humanoid screams (SCP-5767-1) are to be reclassified to SCP-5767-2 and the entity pictured in incident log 5767-B is to be reclassified as SCP-5767-1.

Addendum-8
Symptoms like that originally seen when subjects listened to SCP-5767-2 began to arise two weeks following watching the footage. SCP-999 was again a successful method of treatment, however, the O5 council have decided to Expunge the footage to prevent a breach such as that in incident 5767-C. Due to this an illustration is instead provided. 22 suicides across the world have been linked to the effects of SCP-5767-1 presumably from chance sightings via telescopes. For access to the footage a request must be submitted to the O5 council.

Addendum-9
Following the discovery of the entity producing the vocalizations now known as SCP-5767-2 researchers believe that the best way to contain SCP-5767 is via a recovery of SCP-5767-1. Current understanding dictates that the entity itself is not malevolent and simply rescuing it and containing it in a normal humanoid containment cell would both neutralize SCP-5767-2 and reduce or entirely halt the growth of SCP-5767. Unfortunately, all equipment is destroyed upon approaching SCP-5767-1. Tests on methods of recovery awaiting O5 Approval.
