SCP - 5038

Item #: SCP-5038

Object Class: Safe Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5038 is to be contained within a 1 x 1 meter square stasis cube. The stasis cube must be placed at the bottom levels of Facility 12 in a Nuclear proof vault. At least one (1) Level 4 personnel must monitor SCP-5038's containment vault and the vault's perimeters at all times. No personnel below Level 4 are allowed near the perimeters of SCP-5038's vault, and Level 4 and above personnel are only allowed near SCP-5038's vault if authorised by Facility Director, 05-Council, or to detain any personnel not cleared to go near SCP-5038. Personnel who come within a ten (10) feet radius of SCP-5038's are advised to wear radiation proof gear (See Dr B Heart's medical log).

Description: SCP-5038 appears to be a larger than average egg, white/cream in colour with stains of faded green dotted about it. SCP-5038 appears to be immune to damage (see Addendum #1) and upon scanning reveals to contain a miniature explosive replacing its yolk. SCP-5038 emits a low humming sound whilst in stasis - The Level 4 personnel on security watch monitors for increase in sounds. If the low hum becomes a loud shout, the Level 4 Personnel informs maintenance crews that the stasis chamber is broken.

SCP-5038 was discovered by Agent G Beckett whilst on a hiking vacation with his family in [REDACTED], Switzerland. The Object was discovered in the snow caves resting on a pedastool. Upon contacting the foundation, Agent Beckett and his family were administered Class 3 amnestics and quarantined in their hotel room for one (1) week. The Foundation removed SCP-5038 from the caves and stored the SCP in a lead-lined chamber in Facility-40, approximately ten and a half (10.5) miles from SCP-5038's discovery location. After Facility-40 was destroyed (see Addendum #2), SCP-5038 was relocated to Facility-12 with the new containment procedures in place.

Addendum #1: SCP-5038 was tested in various ways to see if it could withstand any form of damage:
Test 1 - D-7738 was given a variety of tools including hammers, baseball bats, and a frying pan. D-7738 was then instructed to hit SCP-5038 with all weapons. After half an hour of constant attack, D-9345 was escorted back to cells. Upon examination of SCP-5038, no damage had been sustained.
Test 2 - D-6091 was escorted to the roof of Facility-12, where they dropped SCP-5038. After falling for about one (1) minute, SCP-5038 landed. D-6091 was escorted back to cells, and upon inspection of SCP-5038, it was revealed that the SCP had sustained no damage, however the concrete slab on which SCP-5038 had fallen on was cracked severely.
Test 3 - SCP-5038 was exposed to long bursts of fire, radiation, and acid, all of which concluded the tests. SCP-5038 could not be damaged.
All further tests were discontinued

Addendum #2: After SCP-5038 was discovered, it was transported back to Facility-40, located in Nevada, USA. SCP-5038 was stored in a lead lined storage chamber approximately 3 x 5 x 5 meters in diameter. A level 2 personnel was assigned to watch it from a CCTV camera with its audio malfunctioning. It wasn't for another week when a facility personnel on patrol walked passed SCP-5038's chamber and heard a loud shouting noise that the alarm was raised. It was later discovered this shouting sound appeared to emit from SCP-5038 as a form of warning to those nearby. SCP-5038 was shouting for roughly one (1) day, until it detonated, causing a nuclear explosion to happen. The facility was destroyed, and over half the staff killed. Those that made it out were reassigned to various different facilities. It is believed the reason why SCP-5038 didn't detonate whilst in the snow caves was due to the ice cold temperatures, cooling the explosive and keeping it docile. Proper containment procedures are now being followed with a stasis field surrounding SCP-5038, ensuring it does not detonate.

Dr B Heart's Medical Log (Addendum #3)

Dr B.Heart: This is Chief Medical Officer Ben Heart of Facility 12, Log 14. I've been here a few months now, and in my time I've seen many SCPs with many different ways of harming my patients. In this log, I go over a recent arrival at the Facility, SCP-5038. This seemingly ordinary egg emits a low level of radiation, not harmful to humans unless heavily concentrated and on cracked or open skin. This is why, before the incident at Facility-40, it was deemed as safe, for no personnel according to F-14's Chief Medical Officer had any exposed skin. Of course, now however it possesses nuclear capabilities, which leads me to wonder how such a devastating explosion can be contained within such a small shell. I will continue my studies, and report back when I have uncovered anything new.
