The following is a log of tests involving SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-A from 05/29/1984 to the present day from the Research and Development Team at Site 104.
Tests will follow this format:
Name of Subject/Item:
Medical History: (When applicable)
Outcome:
Notes:
Name of Item: SCP-XXXX-A
Outcome: SCP-XXXX-1 was analyzed under a microscope to better understand the mechanics of the bacterium. Upon further analysis, the outer bacterium appears to be composed of organic material, while an analysis of the inner bacterium reveals that the inner bacterium is composed of unidentified nanosized inorganic material.
Notes: The analysis of the bacterium has yielded more insight as to what the purpose of SCP-XXXX is. It is possible that the object is completely artificial, despite what the material of the object is made of suggests.
The purpose of SCP-XXXX is, very likely, to proliferate life on other planets such as our own. The bacterium itself is organic from the outside but houses nanosized components within. They are assumed to be nano-machines, theoretical machines capable of computing at the smallest scale.
Name of Item: SCP-XXXX
Outcome: SCP-XXXX was placed in a testing chamber that was designed to mimic conditions similar to Earth before single-celled life had developed. Soil, water, and similar atmospheric conditions were placed. All bacteria in the chamber were purged before introduction to SCP-XXXX.
Notes: After a month, SCP-XXXX-A was able to produce small amounts of primitive prokaryotic cells with the provided material. This would strongly imply that SCP-XXXX-A are capable of developing life under the right conditions by themselves, and, were all organic organisms to perish in a K-Class scenario, SCP-XXXX-A has the capability to proliferate life all over again, albeit with a significant setback. SCP-XXXX a possible candidate for Foundation terraformation efforts.
Name of Item: One (1) pill of SCP-500 and SCP-XXXX-A
Outcome: The active ingredient of SCP-500 has never been identified. Due to their similarities and anomalous properties, Site Director requested one (1) pill of SCP-500 to extract the liquid within for further examination. Request approved. Upon examination and comparison of both samples, SCP-XXXX-A was found not to be the active ingredient of SCP-500. Liquid redeposited into the capsule, and returned to containment.
Notes: The search continues.
Name of Item: SCP-914.
Foreword: SCP-XXXX-A, technically not organic, has been approved for experimentation with SCP-914 in the form of Petri dishes. List of outputs will follow in increasing order of refinement.
Setting: Coarse
Output: A minuscule heap of an unknown metal alloy.Setting: Rough
Output: Shards of broken Petri dish glass, as well as microscopic, non-functional samples of SCP-XXXX-A, presumed 'dead'.Setting: 1:1
Output: A visibly empty and intact petri dish, however, microscopic analysis indicates that samples of SCP-XXXX-A have been replaced with samples of ████████, separated from the collective swarm that surrounds SCP-████-█. Containment breach declared, samples incinerated. SCP-████ and SCP-████-█ observed for 72 hours to ensure containment had held in place. Repeated 1:1 tests forbidden by O5 Command.Setting: Fine
Output: An enlarged, miniature statue of an individual SCP-XXXX-A. When in the presence of direct Sunlight, small cuts and scrapes are healed much faster than normal Human regeneration within a two-meter radius. No instances of SCP-XXXX-A were found. Object kept in the Site 104 outdoor garden.Setting: Very Fine
Output: A copy of Charles Darwin's book titled "On The Origin of Species", originally written in 1859. Readers, upon reading a passage from the book, will spontaneously develop a random genetic mutation, or evolve a new limb. Object seized and kept in containment.
Name of Subject: One standard brown laboratory mouse, hereafter SCP-XXXX-1.
Medical History: Subject's front-left limb was amputated to test the regenerative qualities of SCP-XXXX-A.
Outcome: After being injected with SCP-XXXX-A, subject promptly started to fall asleep. The injury at the subject's leg had already been clotted prior to injection. SCP-XXXX-1 received injections twice a week for three weeks. After several days, growth of the missing limb had visibly started. Within a few weeks, the limb had fully regenerated. Placing the subject into a small pool of water had demonstrated its leg functionality as normal.
Notes: SCP-XXXX-A's regenerative properties are shown to apply to smaller mammals as well. Further testing has supported the theory that any life that has originated on Earth is able to be under SCP-XXXX-A's influence.
Ending mammal experimentation. Human experimentation approved.
Name of Subject: One Class D Personnel, Caucasian male, late 20s, hereafter SCP-XXXX-5.
Medical History: Suffering from diabetes, a consequence of a malfunctioning pancreas.
Outcome: After a month of therapy with SCP-XXXX-A through pills, subject appears to no longer need constant doses of insulin. Blood work has found that the subject's pancreas is now operating normally. Subject's pancreas has continued to function properly without constant treatment with SCP-XXXX-A.
After a few months with continued therapy, SCP-XXXX-A evolved the pancreas to include an outer semi-permeable membrane shell that coats the whole of the organ, which is theorized to make it less susceptible to genetic defects such as pancreatic cancers or future insulin production malfunctions. Such an evolutionary trait has not been found to be present in any terrestrial life.
Notes: Incredible.
Name of Subject: One Class D Personnel, Hispanic female, early-to-mid 30s, hereafter SCP-XXXX-9.
Medical History: Prior to testing, subject had been anesthetized and had her left leg surgically removed at the knee.
Outcome: After researchers assured the subject that her leg would be fully restored, subject became cooperative. SCP-XXXX-9 was placed in a hospital care while being slowly introduced to SCP-XXXX-A intravenously for several months. Subject reported that she felt sensory sensations in where her left leg used to be, for the whole of the regeneration period. After six months, her left leg had been restored to its previous state with full functionality intact.
Subject reported that she had felt physically reinvigorated in her left leg. Tests have shown that the subject's leg had developed stronger musculature and reinforced bone structure than her previous one.
Notes: The reasoning for amputating the subject's leg instead of using a subject who was born without a leg is simple. We don't know if it makes a difference when and how the injures were created. At the very least we lucked out with that test, glad that it didn't regenerate her leg into an arm. We're pleased to know that SCP-XXXX-A can tell the difference between an arm and a leg.
Name of Subject: One Caucasian female, early teens, Civilian-class, hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-14.
Medical History: Suffering from severe depression and social anxiety.
Outcome: Dr. Rutherford had offered her daughter as a test subject for how SCP-XXXX-A affects human children, and because of her medical history. Request approved in good faith. Because of where the illness is located, SCP-XXXX-14 was given SCP-XXXX-A through injections in the face, once to twice a week, for six months. After treatment, subject appears to have a more positive outlook on life, and reports feelings of renewed confidence and complete elimination of social anxieties.
Internal MRI scans have yielded no visible evolutionary developments, but researchers believe that SCP-XXXX-14 may have developed a resistance to brain cancers.Notes: We may have reached a breakthrough in mental health. It may be possible to someday be able to distribute treatment of SCP-XXXX-A to combat ailments of the mind, and eradicate conditions such as depression or schizophrenia.
Note from O5: We've decided that SCP-XXXX-A cannot be released to the public anywhere in the near future without accepting the risk that any tampering of SCP-XXXX-A's technology could lead to an LK-Class Species Transmutation Scenario. However, Foundation Staff are allowed to receive SCP-XXXX-A treatment upon request.
Requests must be within reason. I won't tolerate misuse. Don't come to me with a headache and expect treatment.
Don't test me after that 1:1 test bullshit. -O5-8
SCP-XXXX-A now available to on-site staff.
Name of Item: One (1) Doctor Jack Bright
Medical History: Psychologist's nightmare's worst nightmare.
Outcome: SCP-XXXX-A in dissolvable-pill form had been spliced in Dr. Bright's coffee for the past three months. Upon directing Dr. Bright into a conference room with a singular Class D subject and told that the surveillance within the room were still being repaired, Dr. Bright proceeded to touch the D-Class with SCP-939, still embedded into his palm. After opening the door, Foundation guards had mistakingly believed that the Class D had murdered Dr. Bright, and he was immediately terminated. After finding a suitable body for Dr. Bright to inhabit, he commented on his disappointment for not being in the previous D-Class's body, stating that "he was a ginger, I had yet to be a ginger up until that point". Researchers involved in the experiment were issued a reprimand. Researchers were issued by Dr. Bright a look of approval.
Notes: Damn it, Bright.
