Santanos Hospital Weekly Report: Patient Mark Tanner
Patient Mark Tanner was admitted to the Santanos Medical Centre in Pickford, England on 14/11/2033, having experienced a series of intense migraines over the past several weeks. Mr Tanner entered the hospital's waiting room, and was told to wait for a consultation. After roughly 2 hours, he began gagging, projecting a large quantity of blood from his mouth and nose before collapsing. He was rushed to the ICU where his eyes were found to be bloodshot and rolled to the back of his head. Mr Tanner also began to experience seizures, coming in and out of lucidity. X-ray imaging of the skull found the appearance of several foreign bodies, believed to be brain cancer, was causing a build up of fluid and pressure within the brain.
The structure was believed to be some form of proxy organ, which meant that commùnication between tℏe left and rîght hemisphere ran through this "organ". Mr TañN3r wⱯßß pԻềẜçrï… When the war on life began, no longer was it fought with sky choking machines, but instead was fought on a biological level. The aperture of the mind could corrupt the bodies of mankind, and the eigenweapon has readied it's motives for the unleashment of its vile ministers.
I've noticed several digital files have been altered in some way with the text, corrupting some. The metadata is also full of, let's just say "less than appropriate" sentences. United have said they were fixing the issue, but that may take a while. For now, please stick to paper ~ tech support.
Item №: SCP-XXXX
Object Class:
Special Containment Procedures:
Description: SCP-XXXX is a family of Foundation-issue chemical substances, referred to as "Amnestics" and the subfamily, "Mnestics", with several other varieties, referenced throughout SCP documentation. SCP-XXXX are classified by a letter based notation system, with general SCP-XXXX Amnestic types covering A-V and Mnestic types covering W-Z.
All instances of SCP-XXXX are derivatives of a paralogically depressant drug based on benzodiazepines, colloquially known as "parabenzodiazepines", which enhance the inhibitory function of the neurotransmitter γ-Aminobutyric acid. In high doses, this can result in retrograde and anterograde amnesia, and so are utilised for their effect on the mammalian central nervous system. Benzodiazepines themselves are also utilised as anticonvulsant, anxiolytic, and a muscle relaxant. Many early Amnestic drugs were known to have paradoxical effects, causing memory remodelling and aggression.
Early Amnestic Treatment
Beginning in the 50s, Amnestics rapidly became a widely available drug to use in Foundation facilities, allowing for otherwise viel breaking activities to be performed regularly. These early Amnestics known as progenitor or extinct Amnestics, while doing wonders for Foundation operations, also had several unforeseen side effects. As was aforesaid, many early Amnestics produced undesired and paradoxical results. If the subject reacted badly to the chemical, then in some instances their memories would be maintained and even given more clarity. These were later refined into Mnestics.
Another unforeseen result was known as "Mutagenic Organ Biosynthesis", which simply was the synthesis of new organ structures in the body, although predominantly in the brain. These structures occur along the central nervous system, and mostly go undiagnosed. While the cause of this biosynthesis is poorly understood, Foundation Amnesticologists have identified differences in chemical structures between hazardous and non-hazardous substances.
For example, Amnestics derived from the plant genus Passiflora contain the chemical C10H1█N██O2█ which affects embryonic stem cells within bone marrow to produce these structures.
