Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored inside a plexiglass container spanning 32cm in width and 15cm in height. This container shall include an insulated lining and must be locked. This reinforced box is to be kept on a stone podium measuring 1.2m in height and kept within an airtight 5m x 5m concrete chamber. Within this chamber, two security cameras are stationed in the north-western and south-eastern corners to monitor tests with SCP-XXXX. Two SD guards are to be stationed outside of SCP-XXXX's containment area at all times to remove unauthorised individuals who attempt to breach SCP-XXXX's containment.
In the event of a test for SCP-XXXX, two MTF guards are to accompany the science and Class-D personnel. The Class-D is to be placed within the chamber and the box will be remotely unlocked via a terminal outside the containment area. During a site-wide breach, SCP-XXXX is to be kept within its box secured with an NTF unit who will not remove it from their sight until it can be transported into a secure area. Any affected by SCP-XXXX's toxins are to be given class A amnestics and to be transported to the infirmary.
Description: SCP-XXXX takes the form of a standard Diplomat Tabacco Pipe, holding a wooden end yet having a leathery finish that makes up most of the chamber. Within the chamber's interior is a black plastic material that lines the bottom area. At 2:07 PM every day, a grainy substance resembling one of tobacco seems to appear within the Chamber. Efforts to record this phenomenon show the substance to fall out of the pipe's stem. However, when the stem was further inspected, no traces of this tobacco substance was found within any other parts of the pipe.
At exactly 3:57 PM, the grainy substance would have disappeared from the chamber, leaving a tar-like substance. In between 2:07 PM and 3:55 PM, a recording shows the substance to slowly grow gooey and liquidise slowly until the end, where it had fully burned away to leave said residue. During this time, a thick grey smoke will rise from the chamber and fill the room it is held in. Those who inhale this smoke will begin a "high", showing obvious signs of intoxication like reddened eyes and a lower attention span.
Subjects in this high report the first 10 - 12 minutes to feel uplifting and stimulating, showing amusing hallucinations and giving an effect of euphoria. This euphoric state would soon drain, and fatigue would begin to set in at the 14-minute mark. Those under this high would then report a paranoia and would begin to hallucinate figures standing around them. Most subjects would soon descend into an insane state after 17-minutes of inhaling this smoke. But some individuals who smoke regularly seem to withstand this point of insanity for another 4 to 5 minutes.
During said time, they report seeing hallucinations that vary on different subjects. One hallucinated the containment chamber being covered in unidentified insects and another report, given by a previous scientist, shows an interpretation of SCP-4601 which seems to show the fear of the user through hallucination. This shows to be promising as using said smoke with SCPs like SCP-682 could show their fears, which could be used during a termination attempt.
Addendum:
The following is a test on SCP - XXXX, led by Dr. ██████.
Subject: Test on SCP-XXXX
Procedure:
> Three Class-D personnel, tagged D-6386, D-2386 and D-9604, are transported to SCP - XXXX's containment area by two SD personnel. Once brang to the entrance, the containment area was oxygenated and all three Class-D stepped inside the chamber.
> The doors and sealed and Dr. ██████ deactivated the magnetic locks within the box holding SCP XXXX. The Class-D personnel are instructed to use SCP XXXX, using a box of matches that Dr. ██████ has given them.
> D-2386 approaches the pipe and lifts it from its box, observing it whilst both D-9604 and D-6386 stayed stationary near the back of the room. Neither were known to be smokers, and D-2386's addiction to tobacco is presumed to be why he went for the pipe first.
> Dr. ██████ monitors the Class-D personnel through the cameras as D-2386 tightens all pipe parts before grabbing the box of matches in his Class-D overalls. The other two Class-D personnel still resume silent.
> D-2386 soon begins taking matches out of the box and striking them, going through three matches before lighting one successfully. He brings it down on the chamber's top for several moments, taking a large drag on the pipe.
> Smoke is then produced from the chamber, filling the containment area. Dr. ██████ switches the camera to see through the smoke. Dr. ██████ also confirms that all three Class-D subjects have now inhaled the smoke.
> The standard "high" begins at roughly 15 seconds after inhalation of SCP-XXXX's smoke toxin. D-2386 seems to be handling the high well, yet D-9604 begins stating that they felt strange nausea. D-6386 reports of hallucinating several rabbits jumping around containment area.
> After ten minutes of this, D-9604 is seen on the floor, violently jerking around and emitting low moans. Both D-2386 and D-6386 seem to be oblivious of D-9604's behaviour, still inhaling smoke and still within a euphoric state from SCP-XXXX's high.
> 4 minutes go by, and D-6386 begins violently shaking his head and shows signs of increased paranoia. D-2386 finally sets SCP-XXXX down on the podium and sits down in the corner of the room, back leaned on the wall and casually looking at the scene in front. D-2386 is still responding to Dr. ██████ yet is only giving vague answers.
> Dr. ██████ observes D-9604 now finally laying dormant on the floor, presumed dead. D-2386 is asked to take their pulse, yet does not comply and instead begins focusing on something in the other corner of the room. D-6386 begins slamming head into containment area's walling.
> After 35 seconds, Dr. ██████ confirms that D-6386's brain matter is seen on the wall, indicating that he has now broken through his skull. He is confirmed dead at exactly █:██ PM. D-2386 finally seems to be overcome with a loss of sanity and begins sprinting around the room whilst screaming. D-9604 is seen to of moved its arms toward D-6386 remains, dragging him to the floor and climbing atop him, digging his hands into their corpse.
> D-2386 stops sprinting and pounces onto one of the security cameras. Dr. ██████ finally decides to call off the experiment. D-2386 soon begins bashing the broken security camera over the wall. Dr. ██████ looks through the remaining camera as the air is sucked out of the room.
> After around 4 minutes of the room being deoxygenated, both D-2386 and D-9604 are seen motionless on the floor and are now confirmed dead at █:██ PM. Once all traces of smoke had been removed, two MTF extracted the remains.
The Origin of SCP-XXXX is traced back to a small apartment in West ███████████, ███████. The SCP foundation was originally called in after several inhabitants of the apartment block within ███████ began attacking people. Several NTF units were sent to the complex where they had first encountered SCP XXXX's toxins. Three out of the five in squad Alpha began the side effects of SCP-XXXX. After twenty minutes, the squad had turned against one another and began shooting.
NTF squad Bravo entered the building at approximately █:██ PM, and after disposing of affected civilians, reached the Alpha squad. By now, all five NTF units had become a victim to SCP-XXXX's toxins. Class A amnestics were given to the Alpha squad, and they were transported back through the building as the remaining three members of the Bravo squad entered apartment ██ on floor 4. Agent █████ reported the apartment to contain several illegal drug plants, containing such plants as marijuana.
SCP-XXXX was found within the kitchen of the apartment, next to a body that had been identified as Zack ███████, yet no other records of him were found. Traces of SCP-XXXX's tobacco substance had been found in his system, indicating that he was the one who contaminated almost the entirety of floor 4. The Bravo squad reported to of found a dead woman, aged ██, within the bathtub within the apartment. SCP-XXXX was then extinguished and transported safely out of the apartment block.
Note: Zack ███████ had been thought to of purchased it from a street dealer in downtown ██████, yet this theory is yet to have been confirmed of denied.
