SCP DRAFTS
Item #: SCP-5220
Object Class:
Special Containment Procedures:
Description: SCP-5220 is a population of Perisoreus canadensis, commonly known as grey jays, currently inhabiting a 1.7 square-kilometer area of land in central Colorado. Visually, birds of this population are nearly identical to their non-anomalous counterparts, with the exception of their plumage, which is notably brittle and prone to flaking.
X-ray analyses have shown a complete lack of internal organs or a typical skeletal structure. Instead, specimens' internals are composed entirely of small wooden gears and cogs, powered by unknown means. Specimens possess a makeshift skeleton constructed of bent twigs and small branches. This internal structure is consistent between all tested specimens, although prone to minor imperfections.
Behavioral patterns of SCP-5220 specimens are thoroughly inconsistent with non-anomalous members of their species. No mating, feeding, or hunting patterns have been observed. However, instances have been observed repeatedly entering and exiting a small cave, which has been searched and documented below.
Addendum 5220.1: Report on Cave Exploration
The cave which SCP-5220 instances frequently interact with is described here in detail. Interior of the cave is small, enough to accommodate a single adult human with standard quality of living. Interior is furnished with a crude bed, working desk, and chair constructed of branches and leaves. Walls are lined with cobwebs and a significant level of decay is present in wood samples, suggesting that the cave has been uninhabited for an extended period of time. Entrance to the cave is sealed off by several wooden boards, with a small opening flap, presumably allowing entrance to specimens of SCP-5220. This barricade has been destroyed to allow entry.
At the time of Foundation exploration, several papers and blueprints were found scattered on the desk and have been transcribed for ease of analysis.
Addendum 5220.2: Document Transcriptions
The Monolith, Expl. Log 4153-1
Log Type: Exploration, Audio/Video
Date: 09/12/1951
Participants: Control; MTF Lambda-5 ("White Rabbits") 1-3
CONTROL: Lambda-5, confirm contact.
L5-1: Confirmed.
L5-2: Yep.
L5-3: Loud and clear.
CONTROL: Free to proceed, L-5.
L5-1: Roger.
L5-2: Moving up.
L5-3: Should we fan out?
L5-2: Negative. Stay close for now.
L5-3: Got it.
Lambda-5 enters SCP-4153's area of effect.
L5-2: You feel that?
L5-1: I did. Stay sharp.
Lambda-5 proceeds into the anomaly for several uneventful minutes. Logs trimmed for brevity.
L5-3: Shit. Control, you hearing this?
A distinct, low (approx. 130Hz) droning sound can be heard on Control's end.
L5-2: What the hell?
CONTROL: Confirmed, Three. We hear it. Make it your priority to find the source.
L5-3: Roger th-
Suddenly, a large tree materializes in front of L5-3. His left arm becomes partially embedded inside of it.
L5-3: Fuck!
L5-2: What the hell?
CONTROL: Lambda-5, uh… we have visuals, but could you confirm for us what we're seeing?
L5-3: My arm, it's… (L5-3 struggles to move his arm) it's stuck.
CONTROL: Okay. You've got knives in your kits, right? They'll have to do.
L5-3: You're not cutting my fucking arm off!
L5-1: We'll cut around it.
L5-3: I… (L5-3 sighs, resigned.) Go ahead.
L5-1 and -2 retrieve their knives and begin the arduous task of cutting out L5-3's arm. L5-3 retrieves his own knife and attempts to aid in the process. In total, this takes approximately 20 minutes.
L5-3: Jeez. Finally-
As L5-3 moves, another, even larger tree materializes, now trapping both of his arms in addition to most of the left half of his body.
L5-2: Are you fucking kidding me?
L5-3 is rendered incapable of speech at this time due to a significant portion of his mouth being encased.
L5-3 is eventually cut loose, having suffered several lacerations to his left eye as well as abrasions covering most of his skin.
L5-2: Control, can we… leave?
CONTROL: Negative, Two. We need you to find the source of that noise.
The droning noise heard earlier is still audible, now approximately 100Hz in frequency.
Item #: SCP-4153
Object Class: Euclid? (maybe Keter idunno)
Special Containment Procedures: Three Large-Scale Scranton Reality Anchors (LSSRA) have been constructed and placed 5 meters outside the radius of SCP-4153-A in order to slow down its expansion. The LSSRA are to be repositioned once per year in order to remain outside the anomaly's influence. A more effective solution is currently being formulated.
In addition, no civilians or other unauthorized personnel may enter a 5-kilometer radius of SCP-4153; any attempts to do so are to be met with intervention by Stationary Task Force Lambda-16 ("The Bastion").
Description: SCP-4153 is a 53-meter-tall stone monolith located in Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia.
SCP-4153 causes the degradation of all Hume fields within a specific radius of the object. This process is highly aggressive, most often spanning only a few hours. Degradation will begin with the deconstruction of objects into simple geometric figures and elements, and end with the complete destruction of matter. Upon SCP-4153's discovery in 1927, the radius of this effect was approximately 300 meters. As of 5/11/2018, the radius has expanded to 700 meters.
Notably, SCP-4153's own Hume field has remained at a constant 0.002 units for the entirety of its existence. The Hume field of the surrounding area is constantly decreasing, yet no equalization is taking place, which is in direct contradiction to Peltzer's Law of Conservation of Humes. One current hypothesis suggests that the object may be siphoning Humes to an unknown location.
SCP-4153-A is the area currently affected by SCP-4153. Within this area, many fundamental laws of physics have broken down. SCP-4153-A is expanding at a rate of approximately 1.3 meters per year, down from 4.4 meters per year prior to the installment of the LSSRA system. It is estimated that the current area will be completely devoid of matter within the next twenty years.
Addendum 4153.1: Discovery
SCP-4153 was discovered in 1927 by Leonid Kulik, on behalf of the Mineralogical Museum of St. Petersburg. In 1921, Kulik had been commissioned to launch an expedition to recover crashed meteorites within the Soviet Union. After reading through several newspaper accounts of the Tunguska explosion (now designated Event 4153-1908.1,) Kulik made preparations for an expedition to the site of the explosion.
Kulik reached SCP-4153-A on 5/20/1927, recording several observations of its anomalous effects in a journal which has since been confiscated by the Foundation. These observations were submitted to the Mineralogical Museum, leading to Foundation intervention after reports propagated up the Soviet Union's chain of command.
Addendum 4153.2: Event 4153-1908.1
The Foundation's current understanding of Event 4153-1908.1 is as follows:
- During the early morning hours of 6/30/1908, eyewitness accounts mentioned a noticeable dimness in the sky, along with a visual distortion akin to "heat haze," despite a temperature of 11 °C that morning.
- Sometime between the hours of 9:00 and 10:00 AM, a large explosion took place at coordinates 60°55′N 101°57′E. Said explosion registered in the range of 3-5 megatons, and the resulting shockwave was recorded at approximately 5.0 on the Richter scale.
- For several days following the event, a localized field of space-time distortion bearing similarity to those following a H-Class "Transuniversal Crossing" event was present over the area. This distortion had faded by 7/5/1908.
- SCP-4153 materialized within the explosion's epicenter sometime during this event, most likely immediately after the original blast.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: A small underwater research station has been established for the study of SCP-XXXX. Any civilian submersibles approaching the brine pool containing SCP-XXXX are to be diverted under the guise of hazardous substances in the area.
Any object produced by SCP-XXXX may be kept in non-anomalous item storage, or disposed of when necessary.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a Ficopomatus enigmaticus,1 currently isolated to a 2.12 kilometer-deep brine pool in the Pacific Ocean. The specimen is genetically identical to ordinary members of its species. When idle, SCP-XXXX will protrude from the pool motionlessly. Unlike ordinary Ficopomatus enigmaticus, it is capable of free movement along the pool's surface, despite being attached to the seafloor.
When approached by a human, SCP-XXXX will attempt to rub against them. If contact is not made, it will slowly move away from the individual. However, if contact is successfully made, it will retract into its tube for a variable amount of time.
SCP-XXXX will emerge holding a crude replica of the individual, comprised of an unknown substance, and often bearing only a vague resemblance to them. All replicas depict individuals as smiling.
If the replica is taken, SCP-XXXX will follow the individual and squirm rapidly for several minutes before returning to its idle state. If the replica is not taken, SCP-XXXX will release it and withdraw into its tube for several days before resuming typical behavior. All attempts to coax SCP-XXXX out of its tube during this time have failed.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Threat Level: ● Green
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a standard outdoors containment area at Site-104. Testing on its anomalous effects is to be led by a Level-1 researcher or higher.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a male Aldabra giant tortoise (Aldabrachelys gigantea) with a length of 2.6 meters and a weight of 556 kilograms.
Multiple cracks are present on SCP-XXXX's carapace, which bears several pictograms. Upon placing the palm of one's hand onto a marking, the individual is mentally transported to one of various settings, designated SCP-XXXX-1. In reality, the individual's position does not change, but merely their perception of their surroundings. Accounts of SCP-XXXX-1's appearance vary based on the pictogram that was touched.
Addendum XXXX.1: Testing Logs
Note: Due to the nature of this anomaly, logs of events are created purely based on the accounts of test participants. Information may be partially or wholly inaccurate.
| Test # | Participant(s) | Procedure | Events |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | D-0191 | Subject instructed to touch a pictogram depicting a star. | Subject is transported to a small island. SCP-XXXX motions them towards a nest filled with several tortoise eggs. No parent is in sight. SCP-XXXX looks towards a nearby patch of trees, then approaches the subject. View fades to black and subject regains consciousness. |
| 2 | D-0192 | Subject is instructed to touch the pictogram depicting a star again. | Subject is transported to a small island. SCP-XXXX motions towards a nearby patch of trees. Here, a small fragment of chitin lays on the ground. No other tortoises are in sight. SCP-XXXX approaches the subject and bows its head. View fades to black and subject regains consciousness. |
| 3 | D-0193 | Subject is instructed to touch a pictogram depicting a dark cloud. | Subject is transported to a mountaintop. SCP-XXXX motions towards the edge of a cliff. Looking down, subject notes that only darkness is visible. Behind him, only darkness is visible. Above him, only darkness is visible. SCP-XXXX approaches the subject and bows its head. View fades to black and subject regains consciousness. |
| 4 | D-0227 | Subject is instructed to touch the pictogram of a fire. | Subject is transported to the inside of a small cave. A bright light shines through a small tunnel, presumably the cave's exit. SCP-XXXX remains motionless and observes the subject for several minutes. Another, smaller tortoise can be seen entering through the tunnel. SCP-XXXX does not acknowledge its presence. View fades to black and subject regains consciousness. |
| 5 | D-0228 | Subject is instructed to touch the pictogram of a lightning bolt. | Subject is transported to the same location as the first two tests. SCP-XXXX motions towards a nest filled with several cracked tortoise eggs, along with one unhatched egg. SCP-XXXX reaches its head towards the unhatched egg, before turning back to the subject and bowing its head. View fades to black and subject regains consciousness. |
| 6 | D-0230 | Subject is instructed to touch a portion of the shell with no pictogram. | Subject is transported to the same location as the previous test. However, the area is now mostly devoid of plant life. The nearby mountain has eroded significantly. SCP-XXXX motions towards an empty nest. No eggs are present. SCP-XXXX observes the nest for several minutes before bowing its head. View fades to black and subject regains consciousness. |
