Item #: SCP-XXXX
Containment Class: Euclid
Disruption Class: Keneq
Clearance Level: Level 2 Restricted
Risk Class: Danger
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be held in a hollow cube consisting of carbon nano-tubes. SCP-XXXX is not to be moved from its containment stand without authorization from 1 or more level 3 personnel to prevent further contamination to the facility. Any areas known to be affected by SCP-XXXX are to be monitored by SCP-████ via closed circuit security cameras. A combination of ultraviolet light, infrared light, and dark matter are to be continuously projected on the edge of affected areas to produce a "light shield", which prevents further contamination of the facility. The Dark Matter Projection Device (DMPD) is to be changed remotely every month, as so personnel do not come in visual contact with SCP-XXXX. All testing of SCP-XXXX is currently prohibited until further notice. No personnel are permitted to to be within 30.48 meters of SCP-XXXX without scoring 8 or higher on a level 4 colorblindness test, to prevent accidental visual exposure as ordered by Doctor White. It is only possible to contain it within areas SCP-XXXX has already contaminated. Attempting the close the box containing the pastel has proved pointless, as SCP-XXXX appears to be able to spread through any existing contaminated areas. Footage SCP-XXXX's recovery from Camera-C is to be backed up on-site servers for analysis.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a visual memetic hazard in the form of a painter's palette which appears to contains a previously undiscovered color, designated SCP-XXXX-2. Attempts to determine the wavelength of SCP-XXXX-2. Red, green, blue, yellow, purple, and black have all been observed on the palette through security footage, but all test subjects have reported seeing a completely new color (designated SCP-XXXX-2) as well. SCP-XXXX-2 does not appear on imaging devices using visible light but does appear on thermal imaging devices. Any area affected by the color will appear warm, making thermal cameras the safest way to remotely monitor SCP-XXXX. Approximately 5-30 seconds after a subject has been directly exposed to SCP-XXXX, their eyes will undergo a series of mutations in which 97% of cases result in a complete alteration to the subjects visible color spectrum, as discussed further below. In approximately 3% of cases, the subjects will go completely blind. This appears to happen more often with older subjects over the age of 60 years. Colorblind individuals do not appear to affected by SCP-XXXX-2. When asked to provide a description of SCP-XXXX, colorblind subjects always claim that SCP-XXXX is “too blurry” With the distance between the subject and SCP-XXXX being irrelevant. This has led researchers to believe that SCP-XXXX-2 is not physically a new color, but rather an illusion. This would explain the anomolous effects achieved through visual contact with SCP-XXXX-2. Subjects are reportedly unable to make any form of physical contact, claiming that they fail to see the object in reference. See Interview-1. The “color” SCP-XXXX-2 found in SCP-XXXX has started spreading from SCP-XXXX at a rate of 9 millimeters per hour after the box containing SCP-XXXX was initially opened. There is currently no known way to remove SCP-XXXX from contaminated areas. It is only possible to contain it within areas it has already contaminated. Attempting the close the box containing the pastel has proved pointless, as SCP-XXXX appears to be able to spread through any existing contaminated areas. The origin of SCP-XXXX is unknown.
