UIU File 2020-003: "The Gardener Community"
Summary: A group of American Citizens who became statues capable of anomalous manipulation and creation of plants and animals.

Codename: "The Gardener Community"
Irregularity Cross-reference: Animate Object, Thaumaturgy, Plants, Animals, Non-Aggressive, Group.
Physical Description: A series of several granite statues carved to depict a group of people planting flowers, harvesting vegetables, and performing other miscellaneous tasks related to farming and gardening. These carvings have a high level of detail on the clothing, tools, and plants, but for the human features only goes far enough to vaguely identify the gender of each subject. All statues are situated around a central earthen structure.

Capabilities: Continuously causes plants in the area to grow at an accelerated rate. However, these plants do not whither or die at an accelerated rate. When actively interacting with their surroundings subjects are able to spontaneously grow plants, including, but not limited to local, international, extinct, and paranormal varieties of plant life. As well, when active subjects will sometimes "discover" animals. Like the spontaneously generated plants these animals can be local, international, extinct, or paranormal. Subjects have on one occasion been observed to turn another human into a granite statue (See xxxx). Each Subject of the "Gardener Community" is part of a gestalt consciousness made up of the individual subjects. Each subject no longer views themselves as an individual.
Purpose/Motive: Subjects use their abilities to promote local plant and animal life while sometimes generating non-local plants and animals. When asked about introducing invasive species subjects have responded saying "they deserved a chance."
Modus Operandi: Suspects will generally work the land with a variety of granite farming and gardening tools that are part of the group of statues. They will also at times sing or chant while working. Whether or not this is needed for their anomalous effects is unknown.
Behavior: Each subject is welcoming and non-confrontational. When approached they are open to discussions, but will not stop farming activities for more than a few minutes at a time.
A: Sample: A common Dandelion given to UiU agent during first interview with Subjects. Dandelion was seen to spontaneously grow from the ground in the span of roughly 5 seconds.
B: Sample: A Titan Arum, "Corpse Flower," which was spontaneously grown by Subjects. Note: These flowers are native to Sumatra and cannot normally grow in Oklahoma's climate.
C: Sample: An as of yet unknown variety of Salvia Divinorum that causes intense hallucinations, euphoria, and makes the subject open to suggestions.
E: Sample: A common Feline Catus which was feral. Captured and sent to a local shelter after examination.
F: Sample: A specimen of SCP-1550. Based on thick fur it appeared to be adapted to life in a cold climate. Specimen sent to Wilson's Wildlife Solutions.
Current Status:
Held onsite and surrounded by fencing with Agents from the UiU and the Fish and Wildlife Service Anomalous Detachment stationed onsite posing as researchers observing local flora and fauna. Poses no threat. Under light surveillance. All non-local plants and animals are collected for examination and storage.
Crimes: Due to the nature of the Subjects their crimes can only be listed and enforced as a group.
Tax evasion and violation of wildlife protection laws.
Sentencing: Indefinite detention.
History of UIU Action: A logged history, with dates, of the irregularities interactions with the UIU before, during, and possibly after captivity.
12/26/2019 Fish and Wildlife Service Anomalous Detachment receives reports of invasive and potentially anomalous plant and animal life in northwestern Oklahoma.
12/31/2019 Fish and Wildlife Agents begin investigating reported area.
1/02/2020 Fish and Wildlife Agents discover the Gardener Community in an active state and report this to the UiU.
1/05/2020 UiU Agents join Fish and Wildlife Agents to examine site. Subjects are currently in an inactive state and do not respond to Agents. Records indicate the land is owned by (several Names) as part of an off the grid nature community. Further research shows that these individuals failed to file taxes for 2019.
1/07/2020 Subjects become active and Agent Hobizal conducts an Interview (See Additional Information: Interview 1). Based on this interview the statues have been identified as the missing persons who lived on and owned the surrounding area.
1/8/2020 Given the number of subjects, their ownership of the land, and the unknown nature of their anomalous effects it's decided to hold Subjects onsite until more evidence can be gathered.
Interview 1 with Gardener Community Subject. Agent Hobizal approached Subject while they were in an active state pulling weeds from around the central structure all statues encircle when inactive. Subject is generally female in appearance.
AGENT HOBIZAL: Hello, I'm Agent Hobizal. I'd like to ask you some questions.
Subject stops her work and mimics wiping sweat from her forehead.
SUBJECT: Certainly, agent. We could do for a quick break.
AGENT HOBIZAL: To start, can I get you name.
SUBJECT: That's a little hard to say.
AGENT HOBIZAL: Why?
SUBJECT: Because we're a community now. We're all in this together. A lot like everyone is in this together if you think about it.
AGENT HOBIZAL: Records show that these lands are owned by (4 names) with several others living onsite as well. This area was being registered to be a town at one point.
SUBJECT: Yup, but we don't need that anymore. Better off really. No paperwork to waste our time. No need to worry about it.
AGENT HOBIZAL: Are you one of the people who lived here?
SUBJECT: We're all them now. A community. Really it's kind of a metaphor, but real.
Subject points to a spot on the ground and Agent observes a Dandelion grow on the spot. Subject plucks the flower from the ground and hands it to the Agent.
AGENT HOBIZAL: Can you tell me how your…community came to be here?
SUBJECT: It started with Emma. She and her lover bought the land. She came out because she wanted to live more simply. Didn't want to be a wage slave you know? That was all of us by the end. We wanted to live with a more immediate connection to the earth. Enter into a deeper connection with the earth. She really inspired us all.
AGENT HOBIZAL: So you all weren't always-
SUBJECT: Really really one with the earth? No that came later, but it all started with Emma. She lived out here, no electricity, a good well, lots a goats and chickens. You know all those extras just get in the way of really connecting. They distract you. We think it's really important for being connected to the earth and to nature.
AGENT HOBIZAL: So your whole community formed from this idea? To be connected to the earth?
SUBJECT: And to each other.
