SCP 5973 is located 3 stories below the east-wing of Site 26 and is to be hung in the middle of a containment cell 5m*5m*5m with no more than two personnel guarding the SCP at all time. The blinds of SCP 5973 must be kept open at all times and anybody who requests to engage with SCP-5973 must be declared mentally fit by an on-site psychologist.

Description

SCP 5973 adequately named the blinds across foundation personnel is a set of CIECO brand Beige Wooden Venetian Blinds approximately 1.5 in length and width and 5 centimetres in depth. There are 30 slats each measuring approximately 4 centimetres in width and showing different designs. Expert analysis of these carvings shows multiple different historical events.

SCP 5973 also known as ‘blinds’ by foundation personnel has the ability to show the observer its worst fear when shuttered close, opening SCP 5973 only reveals the other side. Personnel who have come in contact with SCP 5973 have reported seeing their wives cheating, getting fired, and SCP 682.

SCP 5973 was recovered from a burning ‘Bed, Bath and Beyond located in Puebla, Colorado after reports that an arsonist started talking about a pair of curtains that could show the end of the world. Several more accounts of people witnessing SCP 5973 in the past surfaced after containment, according to protocols we investigated the victims and brought them in for questioning.

ADDENDUM 1: LAB TESTING

Lab Report- 5973A

Test #1

16:39

Male D-Class Personnel, Imprisoned for Arson and armed robbery ready for testing.

16:39

Male D-Class enters containment cell, no problems

16:40

Male D-Class personnel approaches SCP-5973 and pulls the cord close

16:40

Male D-Class collapses screaming in a fetal position, biggest fear is clowns apparently

Lab notes: immediately after pulling SCP 5973's cord the D-Class almost immediately showed signs of fear induced by SCP 5973.

Lab Report- 5973B

Test #2

20:48

Two Male D Class personnel prepared and ready for testing

20:48

Both D-class personnel are introduced into 5973's containment chamber

20:49

No interest in 5973 is shown in either one of the subjects

20:52

D-1424 has started showing signs of erratic behavior towards D-1432

20:56

D-1424 is prompting D-1432 to open the blinds

20:56

D-1432 opens the blinds and faints, the infirmary is called.

Lab notes: The infirmary diagnosed D-1432 with having a traumatic episode, D-1424 was not affected by the blinds so it is currently uncertain if 5973 can only affect people who activate it by pulling its cord. Also D-1424 started showing erratic signs towards D-1432 to open the blinds, this may be a side-effect of prolonged exposure to SCP 5973. Further testing required.

Lab report- 5973C

Test #3

Notes: Four D-Class personnel are introduced into a spare containment chamber at different intervals, facing away from each other and constrained. After the four personnel are placed SCP 5973 is introduced and testing begins.

08:00

SCP 5973 is introduced and testing begins

08:05

No unusual behavior

08:10

D-1296 appears to be showing mild signs of erratic behavior

08:15

Both D-1296 and D-1342 are showing signs of erratic behavior

08:20

D-1296, D-1342, and D-1523 are all showing signs of erratic behaviour

08:25

D-1296, D-1342, D-1523 have shown dramatic increases in erratic behaviour and have started calling out D-1723 to pull the cord

08:30

[DATA EXPUNGED]

Lab notes: SCP 5973 does display the ability to incite chaotic and sometimes violent behavior in subjects, the reason for 5973 doing this is unknown. It is currently thought to be some kind of baiting tactic to lure subjects to it, the reasons to why SCP 5973 would do this is unknown.

ADDENDUM 2: TEST RESULTS

When subjects close SCP 5973’s shutters they appear to observe ‘their worst fears’, upon prolonged exposure in close vicinity to SCP 5973 subjects begin to show mild erratic behaviour within 10 minutes of exposure, after 15-25 minutes of exposure the behaviour of subjects is shown to become more unpredictable and violent towards other subjects if they don’t close SCP 5973.

ADDENDUM 3: ANOMALOUS REPORTS

3 weeks after containment multiple anomalous reports similar to 5973 have surfaced in multiple countries around the world. People questioned by the foundation have reported looking through glass windows, binoculars as well as Venetian curtains and seeing their worst fears. It is pending to increase the SCP 5973 containment class to Keter and Disruption Class to [Redacted].

ADDENDUM 3A: SCP 5973-A

We have recovered a 1 meter tall, one meter wide and 2 centimetre deep glass pane that shares similar characteristics with SCP 5973, this anomaly has been labeled SCP 5973-A and placed in a different containment cell in concern of any reaction between SCP 5973 and SCP 5973-A.

Multiple requests pending to the O5’s that SCP 5973 is raised to a Keter class anomaly due to multiple sightings of SCP 5973 like objects.

ADDENDUM 4: RELOCATION

SCP 5973 is being relocated to site [redacted] and SCP 5973-A is being relocated to site [Redacted] after a site-wide incident causing over 300 foundation employees and 76 SCP’s to display incredibly erratic and fearful behavior. Disruption class has been raised from [Redacted] to KENEQ.
